It doesn't matter what your personality is; if you're a Christian there are masterfully constructed and rhymed lines in this song that fit you to a "T." When I was about 12 or 13 I was obsessed with this Singing At The Dome VHS and played it in my vhs player in my room so many times that either the VHS or the player melted into each other and both were tore up and unusable afterward. Cool to see it uploaded on RU-vid this many years later.

He departed peaceably on August 18 and I am so happy for him. I was with him. I love and miss him terribly, but the Holy Spirit is truly THE comforter. Though I grieve and mourn, there is a deep, abiding peace, and joy, and gratitude. I am so deeply comforted.

We were privileged to get to hear Ivan Parker lead the music atGlorieta Baptist conference Center in New Mexico. I don’t remember what year it was but I’m guessing it was the early 90s. He sang this song at the beginning and end of every service and as everyone was filing out afterwards. And we all joined him singing. It’s an awesome song by an awesome singer praising AN AWESOME LORD.

Sherry, The question is a very simple one, with a very simple Biblical answer in the gospel. It is simply a matter of noticing it when we read the passage that contains the answer.Matthew 24:21-40, in part:"For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. [ . . .] IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TRIBULATION of those days [. . .] shall all the tribes of the Earth [. . .] see the Son of man coming in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory . When I Get Carried Away was written by Ivan Parker's brother Mark Catenzero. The song was written in the spring of 1982. Mark had been diagnosed with HIV and his philosophy class at USC was discussing an appropriate response to people who have HIV. Mark said he had a different attitude than some of the other athletes who were clearly afraid to die. Then one of the women said she thought Mark ought to have more joy if he was really a Christian. The song was in response to that philosophy class.

I have to say something about this: I can totally relate to the first verse; I clam up, possibly because I never really learned how to share the Gospel. Part of that might be that, when I first met Jesus, I couldn't shut up about Him, I shared either my testimony or told people I didn't even know about Jesus, until some people from the church I went to, which was a huge evangelical church. They used to tell me that I shouldn't talk so much about the Gospel because people might get turned off. Well, it's our responsibility to tell people about Jesus, because if we don't, how else are they going to hear. Then this past week at the service at my church, the associate pastor talked about how not even one of us are really ready, equipped, or smart enough to share the Gospel. But God is, and I'm going to trust Him to open doors for me to share the Gospel with my world. He's doing it, too.
