Yup, I have 15 carpeted steps and I already fallen and bounced off two of them and messed up my tailbone. I can’t see Ivanna in her condition using these steps on a daily basis let alone her mother using them. I hope she didn’t suffer long. I will probably not be living here in my retirement years.

I always have reservations when I hear of fatal falls down stairs. A few years ago I slipped at the top of the stairs and went bumpety bump to the very bottom stair . Bruised, I picked myself up and rubbed my bum. Husband had been in the kitchen and I reassured him I was ok. Similarly husband had an aunt 90+ years old, who lived 100’s miles away at the very bottom of Cornwall. Suddenly the three remaining nephews became overly attentive and concerned for her welfare. On a dark night, when the nice neighbour was unable to be on hand . She fell down stairs and died. Afterwards the three Nephews were able to pay off their mortgage and travel to South Africa 🇿🇦 etc - Serendipity. Alas , I do recall somebody had threatened all the Trumps , including Ivana and Melania . I don’t know 🤷‍♀️, I just have reservations.

It is so sad to lose a best friend. As we get older we start to lose people we care about. Like getting older doesn't suck enough. My best friend was my mom and I lost her 7 years ago. It's even worse when they lived with you for 35 years. I miss her every day. I went from having her around 24/7 to being totally alone. That took a lot to get used to.

I agree but must say too that as a daughter to an elderly mother - who is highly independent and strong willed it’s extremely hard to “contain” them at times. My mom had to move from my house to be cared by other family members because she would not listen to me and I have a baby to take care of … she just would literally go up and down the steps when we were not looking. We insisted to escort her but she wanted to do her own thing.

No broken bones, but all kinds of bruises and sprains which took months of intense physical therapy and pain meds. When we try to tell her to enjoy life, but stop doing things like climbing ladders, she laughs and says, "I'm going to keep on living until I die." I get that, but at the same time, falling off a ladder in her 80s could break a hip and she'd end up bed-ridden. IDK, it's just not an easy situation.

If money wasn’t an issue: Bathroom upstairs. Chair escalator on the stairs. Get a nice person or two to move in (background checks, vetted by your lawyer, no smoking, no candles, no incense, etc) either rent bedrooms out or in exchange for watching out for you. Get better security, window locks, etc. Heck! I’ll move in! 🤣🤣🤣 PS my mom escaped from two rehab homes. She said the reason they were spotless is because staff turned on tv 📺 loud - and cleaned and vacuumed all night! No wonder the residents walked around like zombies in the daytime. Normally, it’s best to stay in your own home.

I was going to make a suggestion to her maybe to try to rent out that upper room to somebody who already works in an industry where they would know if she was having problems ... for example somebody who's a part-time nurse ... ... somebody that would work shifts where they're usually home at night when the woman is sleeping so she will feel safe in her home at night . Don't tell me I don't have compassion ... I've taken in homeless people into my home , right off the streets without knowing who they were , fed them , gave them money , bought them clothing , took them around to people I knew who own their own businesses to try to get them jobs ... I tried to help them get their dignity back without asking them ever once how they ended up in the streets... ... that doesn't include the thousands I gave away in $20 bills to homeless people ... and taking them out to eat in fairly decent places not crappy restaurants like McDonald's either .... but upscale cafes and things like that .
