I agree because the main people he was open to say he loved them was his mother and wife and they both died.

I mainly agree, however I think that Ivar wasn't afraid of a death. He was afraid what will happend with his actions how and if even will peopel remember him. Also this comment about looking down at the leg, that's nice I didnt pay attention to it. Anyway I can't definitely say what he was afraid of, for me it is a half fear for death and a half about the memory. ( He even asked Hvitserk once what he is more afraid to lose, im not sure what it was but there was a word mind for sure ). For sure he was afraid at the end, but I dont remember anything about fear from Ragnar. I mean not clearly, Ragnar said Ivar to be ruthless right? But in the whole context its also about fear, all these things describing Ivar as a special have some conection with fear. So you might be rigth, but I think it was not a main point of Ragnar. As you said, Valhalla awaits you Ivar!

I think at the very end lvar was in fact afraid to die … even though they are trained from birth not to fear death or see it as the end of something, l think it’s human instinct to want to survive when death is staring at you in the eyes and that’s what we see as IVAR’s inner conflict as he draws his last breath he still says “ NOT TODAY “ , those were his last words if you listen carefully. The scene was to gut wrenchingly heart breaking. Even more so as Alex said that he spent the whole day crying and feeling very emotional between takes … so the tears were real because it was his last day and when they finished that scene he broke Down crying.. l loved how cinematic his last scene was .. his slow mo movements contrasting with frenzy of the other soldiers in the battleground , the bluish color grading ,l think that was done purposely to reflect the way Ivar saw the world when his eyes went deep blue .

Yes for the most part wrong on the death part ivar was not afraid of death he was afraid of being forgotten hence why his brother holding said I won’t tell anyone that no one will forget ivar the boneless that is proof there he was only afraid of being forgotten, in an earlier scene he also states he wants to be remembered as being the most famous Viking and also of any of you had gone to comic cons where Alex was asked many questions one was the end scene he stared it himself saying over was only ever afraid of being forgotten so ivar was defo not afraid of death he was scared ppl would forget his name

Ivar was never EVIL.ever. brothers and vikings have always fought. Sigurd was an accident and Bjorn was during a war and they fell out big time due to Lagertha murdering his mother. Most humans who loved their mother couldnt let that go either. Just like Bjorn couldnt. He only spared Hvitserk because he knew he was happy to die and was going to Valhalla, so no Ivar was very misunderstood, impulsively violent, very insecure and in so much pain. He was the best character on the show after Ragnar. Ivar was the show.

Went against his brothers in season 5 when BJorn and Ubbe did not want war? Also kinda killed Bjorn before he was fully killed in 6B? "Brothers and vikings have always fought". Ragnar never wanted to Kill Rollo or Rollo wanted to kill Ragnar despite they always seemed to be on different pages. They controlled their emotions, Ivar did not and sign of an evil. Juts because it happened that does not mean its the right thing. If it was right, Bjorn and Ubbe would never wanted to fight IVar and shatter their fathers dream. You have no idea what you are talking about. Go rewatch season 5. Before the battle they all have a meeting and BJorn and Ubbe begs to not have wars between brothers.

If he laughed and got off on everything he did like Ramsey Bolton I'd get it. Ivar did burn Hvitserk gf alive and others but so did Ragnar. Ivar did that because he was desperate to keep his rule, the king and she was conspiring against the king of Kattegat, technically he had every right to kill her. As horrible as it was, he wasnt happy about it or smiling like alot of actual evil characters do. Ivar is a ruthless, paranoid, messed up VIKING. They have always fought each other, and not one of them is perfect. Ivar did not set out to kill his brothers ever, he wanted Lagertha dead and unfortunately Bjorn and Ubbe were on her side. Ivar said himself in 5x08 "You've all been talking about fighting our own people, brothers...I dont want to do that, so let's not do it, just walk away, do not put your men to the test". You seem to remember all the bad he did but dont remember their way of life and all the pain hes gone through. As well as all the other sides of him hes shown, Ivar put on a facade around his brothers most of the time, because he was desperate to prove himself. Ivar has caused alot of hurt yes but so have many others including the other brothers, he may have done more then them but they have all been willing to kill each other at some point to when it came to war or choosing a side. Lagertha killed her own people to take over Kattegat and caused the rift between the brothers by being petty and killing Aslaug after 20+ years of leaving Ragnar. Ivar wa more then bullied, he was sheltered and isolated from the viking community because he couldnt participate and was pitied or laughed at. Each son honoured their father in their own way. Ivar has many fans too, if he was just this evil dickead who killed his brothers for no reason like u describe id get it, but hes not. You have failed to see the other side to him, the real him he only showed to a few and how he just lashes out and makes things worse for himself most of the time when it comes to his relationships with Hvitserk especially. Also Ivar not being able to control his emotion like his brothers isnt a sign of evil lol, Ivar has no impulse control like most people have once hes gotten angry enough. The show explained how his mind doesnt have that thing that makes you stop and think sometime and how him being desperate to prove himself and having to do that much more just to be his brothers equal is what drives him, along with his pain and loss since he2was orphaned as a teen and took it the hardest. Evil people dont care about getting their brothers love. Your entitled to your opinions but you just seem to be ignorant to the fact that Ivar was a complex amazing character, he did stupid things but deep down was just a special ruthless viking who made some mistakes along the way like everyone else on the show. He got alot calmer and wiser in season 6 and had changed too, michael hirst even said he had been kind redeemed already with how he took Igor under his wing and truly cared for him. Most assumed he was just manipulating him but I knew he truly cared for him as well as making a plan to help them both out.

And Ivar went to Wessex because he was meant to and hes a Viking. Doubt u complained when Ragnar sailed West and raided and outsmarted kings in England. Ivar was Ragnars wrath.

@@awesomeraihan1 again the child wasnt his actually and if you watch the scene as sad as it is, Ivar wasnt being evil then he was doing something from the heart not to be cruel. He cried and explained exactly why he did that and Ragnar AGAIN did exactly the same thing, he left Ivar in the woods and walked away, Ivar only survived because Aslaug went out and found him in time. Ivar didnt want the child to suffer as he did, again sign that hes not evil. The baby also would of died slowly anyway because Baldur had cleft lip and couldnt breastfeed. Theres not milk bottles back then. I've seen season 5, Ivar wasnt going to kill his brothers, they were just in his way to Lagertha, Ivar also gave them a chance to give up and walk away, they also refused. Why should he just let his mothers murder go and live in his fathers kingdom where she rules, it would be like shes taunting him. So you dont have to like Ivar but seem to be Ignorant to what else happened and why Ivar just couldnt let it go. Just like he would never let Ragnars death go. He respected Bjorn choice obviously it's his mother that's why he only went mad at Ubbe in 5x08.

@@sounanoucha8500 Lagertha left Ragnar, she wasn't forced. And she hated the fact, that she wasn't equal to them anymore, and then took her own earldom through murder. And when she was elected to be removed from power, she was willing to start a civil war to take it back. And in the end, she murdered again to take back the power from Kalv. She also hated the fact, that Ragnar had become king, so he was no longer her equal. Aslaug was killed because Lagertha was ambitious and nothing more.

I think by then Hvitserk was already tired of all the killings . He accomplished his fate of Kiling Lagertha ( albeit accidentally) but He had also given up on trying to “ seek vengeance “ on Ivar after lvar killed his fiancé . It seems like Hviserk became a monk , There was no way Hvitserk was going try to Kill King Alfred because Ivar chose that death for himself. Also King Alfred renamed Hvitserk as “Athelstan”, the same name as Ragnar’s friend , the Christian monk . Hvitserk’s story is actually the story of Gothrum.
