A lovely little clip. As it happens I just acquired a Doonside Mills from the estate if a noted collector over here. Great to see the man who created it.
It's the end of 2021 and I only hope that his engine collection was distributed around to others that appreciate what he had acquired. It will be soon that I will have to make that decision.
First meeting was at Doonside model club 40 years ago, I was 7 years old. Arrived with my brand new , still in box , COX blue & yellow plastic control line trainer...how the hell it got off the ground? I'll never know. I was fascinated by aeroplanes for as long as I can remember ..... Still am!
I met Ivor F. Stowe at Goulburn NSW World FF Champs, and later, his son Tahn Stowe at Lost Hills, CA at the WC about 1993. I also ran my Mills 1.3 holding it in my hand, but it was one of the replicas made in India.
I had a .15 HB engine that ran so smooth a vibrotach couldn't register enough vibrations to work. You could hold it in your hand and it didn't want to numb your hand and turn around and bite you. HB claimed that it was the most balanced engine in the world. I believe that.
Wow. I saw quite a few oldies I didn't recognize! How about another video??? Thanks, Paul V Bangkok Collector since 1980. PS Sold a couple of collections and back up to 140 engines now.
I'm only a 37 year old pom but I have heard of Ivor F. I think it was via the writings of Brian Winch. What an excellent piece of documentary filming, really getting across the man's knowledge and enthusiasm without making him look like a crank (which is what happens in the UK). Was this recently filmed then and is he still going?
