This video presents a brief review of the Iwata HP-TH airbrush. For more information about airbrushing scale models, visit my web page at: scale-model-wo...
I had this airbrush for few years already from HLJ. And recently got me also the Iwata RG3/L3 convinced by your review and my attempt to use the TH on the DeAgostini falcon model. The model is so big, the airbrush feels a bit under gun for the task. But the TH is like you said, stellar on a normal scale models. And its my main gun now for priming and base coating. So my line up of airbrush are from Iwata's Custom Micron CM-SB, Eclipse SBS, HP-TH and the RG3/L3.
Dr. Budzick, thank you for the assessment. The information that you give on this channel is always worth a listen and consideration even if one is not in the market for the item you review. It always helps to refine critical thinking skills when it comes to hobby applications.
Looks pretty much the same. I know the Procon is manufactured at the same plant as Iwata, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a rebadged version of this.
Hi Paul, I'm building 1/12 th scale MFH cars ('cause I'm old and the parts are bigger) and my normal airbrushes seem to struggle with the large body parts. I would appreciate any advice you care to give. What about the new HP-TH2?
I don't like that airbrush at all. I don't see the point. In my opinion, it is the worst of all worlds bad ergonomics and a fan spray that is worthless because it is not adjustable. My absolute favorite is the LPH80. I would go for the 1 mm nozzle if you are doing 1/12 scale cars. I use an LPH80 for all my basic color applications. If it is something smaller, I use the .8 mm nozzle. If they were going to bring back a larger airbrush, they should have brought back the HP-BE2. One of their all time best.
Saved me a disappointment! I have been wanting a fan pattern airbrush.. but with no air control like my full size guns have, forget it. That IS needed for spray pattern tuning.
Thanks doc! I own this airbrush, and use the round cap almost exclusively. I did had to replace the Kustom stock cup with a smaller I-070-8 14 ml cup. It’s just too heavy and unbalanced with the larger one.
