I've been using the old model for about 10 years. I've noticed the split spray pattern everyone talks about. It seems that a simple adjustment prevents the problem. However, I would not mind trying the newer one.

Hi Pete, fantastic video as always mate you did a great job on the voice over making it easier for people to understand what the differences between the guns and what you need to do to the Series1 to make it spray correctly. As you mentioned in the video the Series2 will be released to the rest of the world in November I'm not sure why Iwata has done this but I do wonder if we (UK and Europe) are beta testers for the gun to see if they get any negative feedback and if the USA/rest of the world will get the same gun or an updated version of the WS400 Series2🤔 I doubt they would tell us if they updated the gun anyway🤷‍♂ Have to agree with your findings though Pete as there is no noticeable difference between the 2 finishes and both guns did a great job on the clearcoat, I've had my WS400 S2 1.3HD Digital for quite a while now and it's performed flawlessly with no issues and the digital gauge is the best I have, even though it's way over priced I have no regrets buying it and hopefully will be getting the Series2 OBS at some point👏🙏👍

Hi Pete, great video as always, both panels came out the same by the looks of it to me which is good as they both have a really good finish I can’t see by peel either. I’m pleased you find a usable way of using the gun with its little quirk at an angle, I does make you wonder if other guns are the same or if it’s where the thread is started on the nozzle. See you in the next one. Cheers.
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 Год назад
Hi Steve, holding the gun at an angle isn't a problem, you instinctively follow the pattern anyway so you don't realise your doing it and it really does transform the old gun into the new one, apart from the styling and the little adjustment to angle i don't think the old is any different from the new, apart from the £200 price difference of course 🙄, cheers mate 👍

I was thinking Pete are the threads the same as like the Gtipro to prolites if nothing has changed so if you have a series 1 you might be able to get a series 2 setup and the best of both worlds old style gun with the ease of painting like a new one unless if you’re one of lucky ones to get to hold the gun straight up and down? Just a thought?
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 Год назад
The Gti Pro and Gti Pro Lite share the same caps and tips but a different needle, they spray the same. The older caps were same fitment but different numbers, so T1 is now TE10 and so on, the Pro lite is lighter as the name would suggest, most parts aren't interchangeable but most of the nose parts are, as i say they spray the same.

Hi Gerrid and thank you, I am making a top ten clear and base video and one of the hardest things is ranking the gun's, taking price out of it makes things easier though. For Clearcoat in my top 3 would be Sagola 4600 DVR, Walcom Carbonio Lite HTE 360 and Iwata WS400 Series 2 or Series 1 set up the same. For Base the Devilbiss DV1 Base, Sagola 4600 Xtreme Aqua and the W400 WB Iwata are all very good

I like both of them, i prefer the 5000 as it's faster than the 5500 although the 5500 is a little more refined, the sata is right up there, when you get to these top gun's there isn't that much in it and the materials used may mean one is better for you than another

Hi Jeremiah, for the series 1 WS400 I would recommend the fan between 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 turns out from fully in, full fluid at 2 bar which is 29psi, if you can turn the front cap so the air horns are level with the splits in the tip and still use it then you can open the fan right up

Hello Pete. Just bought a ws400 series1 off ebay that says it has the base cap. My question since watching all your ws400 videos is, can I just but the 01 cap or do I need to buy the clear fluid nozzle as well, I've read where you say the holes are bigger in the clear nozzle. Is this the best route for setting this gun up for clear or will the cap change suffice? Thanks for all you do.
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 Год назад
Hi David, the only difference between the WS400 clear and base is the tip, the cap is the same except for the very early ones where everything was the same before they realised there was a problem if you used it for base. So for it to be a clear gun all you need is the tip

Hi Mate, because I lined up the cap with the tip you can use it flat out, so full fluid and full fan at 2bar or 29psi, if you don't line the tip up then I normally use the series 1 on full fluid, fan 2 turns from fully in at 2bar, it's a smaller wetter pattern like that 👍

It would be worth checking your fan pattern, on most, but not all series 1 WS400 clear guns turning the fan out more than two and a quarter starts to split the fan, top and bottom heavy. On the WS400, I'm normally around 7 or 8 inches because the fan is closed up it gives a wetter pattern, so too close will over do it, it also allows better atomisation, so it gives the gun a chance to work
