Yes - I know, do more Game Knights with your own original EDH decks. We heard the first time, and we will certainly have heard this time as well. We've got a LOT of episodes coming up with original Commander decks, but we didn't name the show "Commander Knights" for a reason! With new sponsorship comes a lot of new opportunities and openings for the show to do what it originally planned to do - make Magic accessible to a mass audience across all types of different formats. This was our first foray into one of my personal favorites, 2 Headed Giant, and we'll be experimenting and playing with more in the future. Our next episode will be really special, with original EDH decks, and some awesome guests. Thanks for sticking along for the ride, and don't forget! There are many more episodes left of the show - we can't satisfy every Magic player with each episode, so please be patient and enjoy the content :) - Jimmy

Thanks for the preemptive strike, Jimmy! As long as you keep listening and communicating quickly, I think you guys will be fine. No one wants you to lose your sponsors' support, but we don't want you to be slaves to it either (for your sake and ours). Just... please pay attention to the like/unlike bar the same way you guys pay attention to your EDH meta. Josh's go-to advice about how to force out certain cards/decks you don't like is to hate them off the board on sight. If you make a Game Knights that gets "hated off the board," so to speak, please don't take it personally. :-)

Speaking of opportunities is nice, but you carefully avoided speaking of constraints tied to the sponsorship. Giving out free stuff and mentioning sponsors is all well and good, but not if it is detrimental to the show. Don't get me wrong. I find it fantastic that you guys are getting sponsored to produce content. But I nevertheless feel you are getting a bit overwhelmed by the demands deriving from this commercial agreement. Which is a shame, since you are indeed talented in both setting a good pace and explaining stuff... I really hope you'll eventually go back to what most viewers seem to be expecting from the Game Knights episodes.

I think you may be overestimating what the restrictions are. We do the giveaways entirely on our own accord, ship out the prizes ourselves, and have zero obligation to do so from sponsors. We do that entirely to reward viewers for being a part of the experience and pay for all of the shipping and handling out of our own pocket. We have always intended (and if you watch us talk about it on the podcast we mention it a lot) that the show's goals were to show the diversity of Magic across multiple different formats and provide different entry points for everyone to enjoy the game we all share and love. Sponsorship opens doors to help us make the show better - a new set, a new studio, flying out Meghan and Maria, hiring a director of photography, getting Josh some assistance in the editing, and overall opening up new doors for us to experiment and evolving the show. What it seems like people "expect" are literally just original Commander decks, and again, I can't stress enough that while we know people know us for that format, it won't be the final and last word on anything we ever do. I would hate it, being a fan of all of Magic myself, if I could never do anything BUT that on the show. It would almost make me want to stop making it entirely - that feels more restrictive than anything else. That being said, we're going to have a LOT, and I repeat, a LOT of episodes coming up with original EDH decks. There aren't "sponsor restrictions" like you may envision, it's just us making this process more fun for ourselves and expanding to cover different areas of what the show can and will be in the future.

Thanks for being so clear about communicating with the fanbase. While i enjoy viewing a good game of EDH as much as the next guy, you guys also does interesting things i see so little of elsewhere; planechase, Archenemy and now Two headed giant. Keep up the good work, and do what you feel like (besides EDH - can't get around the fact thats what the channel is build around.) Looking forward to the next EDH Game Knights

I would like to start by saying that I really enjoyed watching this two-headed action, previewing the next set coming out. I also like that you guys explained how you are making your decks and why, and also reaction commentary with all the players during the game. You guys are doing an awesome job and keep it up.

I'll be playing in my very first prerelease with my daughter this weekend and we are doing 2 Headed Giant. I darn near fell out of my desk chair this morning when I turned the computer on and saw this!!! While Commander is my favorite format, I actually find it refreshing to see other formats as well. Dang I'll admit 2HG surprised me and while I initially started watching this series because of commander it is not the sole reason I keep coming back. I love the content and passion / know how you guys provide, I especially love it because you two represent what MTG community should be about, welcoming players old and new and encouraging game play with an open and giving mind. I wish I could say the various comments that seem to be anti anything and everything that isn't EDH are a surprise but this is the Internet after all - if you guys strictly did EDH I have no doubt that they would complain about that too. I think the formula y'all have going is great and I can't wait to see more content and what else you have in store for your viewers. Cheers from Dallas TX!

A highly entertaining show. I was anticipating Ixalan Commander decks, but this was an interesting switch. I enjoy the Sealed Format and Sealed Two-Headed Giant is a delight to play. I introduced my Wife to Magic playing Sealed before transitioning her to Commander, and we both enjoy playing together. Thanks for another great episode. I'm excited to see you getting further sponsorship so that you can make more happen with the Game Knights. Editing has to be one of the hardest parts of making the videos so getting more help with that is fantastic. I hope this means we get more and more great content coming up! Keep up the awesome work!

It's easy to complain that you guys aren't doing Game Knights like some of its earlier episodes or that these episodes are very ad-focused, but I think it's great that you guys are always trying to improve the channel and Game Knights as a series. Of course with new product, you have to showcase it, and I think it's great that you are showcasing other 3+ player formats on your show. Yes it is The Command Zone, but I think it's great you're presenting these formats that some players may not be familiar with or may not have yet given a try. Great work, guys. Keep it up, and look forward to more great content as you move ahead.

I usually come here from commander content, but I am going to my first 2HG event this prerelease, with my cousin who is fairly new to magic and as new to 2HG as I am, so this is wonderfully helpful! Thank you for remembering us bumbling but enthusiastic newbies when you do your programs, as well as doing your other stuff. Congrats on the Sponsorship! You guys are doing great! It was great to see more of the Ixalan set in action and you all played very well. The commentary was colorful, relevant and also easily comprehensible for newer players. There's a reason WotC sponsored you guys, you totally deserve it and you promote their product wonderfully. MtA were great guests, and I would love to see more of them in the future. As far as what I'd like to see in future content; more of the same and more of the new. I don't think there's much wrong you can do with the formula you have going. The only complaint I have about Game Knights is that I enjoy it so much that it's over too quickly, but it is always worth the wait. =)

Really? They come out with these maybe once a month, and this month's one was basically just a 42 minute ad. I don't understand how you could not understand why people are upset. Frankly, Game Knights was the only thing that kept me subscribed to this channel, since the Command Zone casts have become way to pretentious for me, and now Game Knights is them trying too hard for what is basically an ad.

IconoclastXVII look, I see that they're going a new direction too, but I see it as less of an add but more of a fun coverage of the new set coming out because that's an extremely exciting prospect. They get their sponsors out of the way in the beginning of each episode, yes they do need to keep the lights on. But I truly don't see how this is a glorified ad, I've seen this one and the past few as a fun way to cover new products that many of us want to know about. But I really don't think they've become pretentious, and don't see how you found that idea, they work hard to try to make us all happy with their content.

I enjoyed it. Ads are ads and really aren't that big a deal. I am glad sponsors are willing to give these guys money so they can continue. But if you want to cover all their bills, XVII, so they can go ad less, I won't complain.

I would generally say I had very little interest in 2 headed giant, but the way that these videos are shot and edited together, I think I would enjoy watching basically any format, no matter how little interest I would normally have in it! Watching an episode of Game Knights somewhat randomly was what convinced me to get back into MTG, and commander specifically, after something like 15 years off! You guys are among the best MTG content creators on RU-vid. Keep it up! (and give us more, more, more MORE!)

Fun episode folks! Interesting how the feel of an episode can be very different and depend so much on the personalities of your guests. It seems that you guys didn't find as many powerful commander cards in Ixalan as previous sets. Shaking Game Knights up by doing two-headed giant was a good reactive move. Good to shake things up on occasion anyway.

When this got uploaded I wasn't sure what to think as I was at work and skipped through a lot to get a feel for the episode and noticed there was a lot of interview bits, more than I remember than usual but now I have the time to watch properly and it's ok, not actually a problem.

This was a fantastic episode guys! Outside of commander, Limited is my next favorite format, and I've been doing 2HG Prereleases for the past year with my best friend. This episode was right up my alley, with tremendously fun guests. This wasn't even the first non-Commander Game Knights. Y'all had an Archenemy episode a few months back. I'm watching the series from beginning to current, and I always love when you deviate from commander, because it adds a nice spice. The quality of the show is great as always, and comparing this to the posty episode, it's super cool to see how much command zone and game knights have evolved. I love the show guys, keep it up!

Hey guys i'm a massive fan of game knights and play many formats with my play group from EDH to planechase, two headed giant and archenemy, i just want you guys to keep going as you have with game knights as its great to see you playing a variety of formats with different players as it keeps things different, i personally watch because you are as entertaining as the games you play and i wanted to leave this comment as a positive one because the negativity in the comments is in my opinion unfounded so all in all you guys are awesome please keep the content coming = )

While the overall format of the show is nice, I get the feeling this is drifting farther and farther from the original Game Knights format towards an ad platform for Wizards. Which is a real shame because the pace is generally very good. Can't agree more with Joe below, some original commander decks battles would be much appreciated !

Adds and sponsor shout outs dont bother me at all. It shows me that this show is doing well and because of these sponsors you can do more/bigger videos. So you guys keep doing what you are doing and hater gonna hate. Side note I just build my first EDH deck and it was inspired by the Hapatra tech deck video, so thank you for that!

You know what that means though, right? There will only be Wizards aproved content on the channel. They get sponsored, they get their previews, Jimmy gets to host a few events. With a bond like this they will never EVER so much as say a bad word about wizards again, no matter what they do.

yeah, i hope not. because if you look at their ixalan preview video from a few days ago they were really harsh on almost every card, just basically things unplayable garbage. while that isn't bad mouthing wizards, it is their unfiltered opinion and i hope that doesnt change.

That was very hard to watch but totally the fault of your guests. Now i remember why when I checked their show I was like "never again". You should have invited Rudy and DesolatorMagic, put them on the same team, make Rudy play with a PSA 10 plastic alpha reserved list only deck and Desolator with an Ixalan homebrew of his own. That would have been comedy gold.

It was nice to see this change up what you guys do. Was also sad to see that it wasn't a commander game, but my guess is you guys were only given a handful of cards to play with so a Sealed pool was something you could do. Was still a good episode and it was interesting to see how both sides really went through the thought process of "whats a good card" and "whats our bomb". Perhaps you should do a video as to why EDH players should go to pre-releases or sealed/draft tourneys. The pros and cons for new players, commander players ect. On a completely different note, I think you should invite Mel back and have her play her Grenzo, Dungeon Warden deck. Would LOVE to see a deck tech of it and see it in action!

I'm fine with you guys branching out into different formats. Also after Jimmy's lengthy explanation in another comment I'm more content with sponsorship (Not a big fan of the Eclipse Sleeves still but to each their own) but It just feels like late you guys are spreading yourself too thin. I get that you guys are very busy with each of your respective successes coming in life (Congrats to both of you) but it feels like the podcast is suffering. I remember watchign the Unesh Deck Tech and you both seemed super drained and going through the motions. Most Podcasts and deck techs after that seem...hollow. I don't know how else to describe it. Anyway still a big fan of you guys and your content (I'm obviously still subscribing and listening : P) it just feels like there's a lack of Oomph in the main Podcast. Also LOVE seeing Megan and Maria!

Ironically, everyone who's complaining about this not being a commander-focused video is doing the same thing they're accusing wotc of doing, which is telling these guys what content to make. These guys have been pumping out gameknights left and right and now you feel like you're entitled to certain content? Just watch the commander ones and don't watch the limited ones. This isn't commander vs. I actually really enjoyed this episode and I'm happy to see these guys branch out and play their second favorite format, which they've stated multiple times.

yes cause we came here for one reason, what the fans say should weigh very heavily on what they do. we pay the bills thourth ad money and thourth checking out sponsers and pateron. the idea "make what content you want" is childish and is bad bussiness pracitce, we are the cusomters and they should in theory if they want to succeded listen to us.

Andrew I just don't get the thought process that this is replacing other content. This is ADDITIONAL content. People are acting like this could have been commander instead. But in reality, this gameknights episode most likely wouldn't have happened at all if it weren't for the sponsorship. There will be other gameknights with commander play as well, just like in the past. This is an additional gameknights episode. I don't see the argument that this is a bad thing.

Actually you're wrong and here is why. They said they could only make one episode a month due to the time and resources required to make them. They are now being (maybe) paid but at the worst compensated in some way for doing these promotions but still only doing one game knights a month. So they are dancing around the excuse of only making one while getting revenue from wizards, youtube, the patrons, and their TWO sponsors for doing the same amount of work while these patrons continue to pay hoping for more game knights in one month which if you can see by their most viewed videos is their most popular content by a landslide and really not close but they only make one a month, even after requests to do tons of them.

BrandonMurrayBMM The reason they have time and budget constraints is because they have jobs and this is additional work. If they put themselves in a position to grow as a channel and acquire new sponsorships, they may be able to devote more time to this and make more gameknights. So yes, in theory, this is holding them back from making another episode, but they are likely thinking of the big picture.

Guys I understand that with sponsors comes revenue and responsibility for certain content, but what people are saying is without viewers or subs the sponsors probably wouldn't be there. I don't mind some sealed content every so often but definately not for a game knights episode. If i subscribed to a kitchen table magic channel I would not be looking for standard only content. Not trying to be mean just trying to give perspective from the comment section.

jim bob yes.... i agree. made me cringe. I love there content. This is the first time iv had to come back and finish it. 2HG is amazing to play, it was the guests who kinda drained the life from it. P.S that's just my two cents
