Fog was green ways of beating agro, but because control made turbo fog, there are no more than 2, and they normally have terrible conditions or crazy high cost to prevent turbo fog from reaking havoc again
It seems Seth also wasn’t prepared for the fog ;P, as it seems he missed the subtle bonus of the card… your creatures still deal damage. Against the hydra deck and also the convoke deck Seth seemed to miss the fact that Erie interference would have let his creatures eat the OP’s on blocks. This would have made a big difference versus convoke and would have made the hydra game less stressful. But I get it Seth was just so excited to Fog again he didn’t read past that point which I totally get, MAN LOVES HIS FOGS.
Yep, that’s part of why it cost 3. Part of the confusion might be that Arena puts the same red halo effect on your creatures and your opponents creatures when you cast Eerie interference.
33:55 see, I would joke about the aggro players not reading the cards in Seth's deck, but Seth doesn't even read the cards in his deck, so I can't exactly cast too much shade, unless there's a reason why Seth didn't want to kill opponent's 3/2 and 1/1 for free. (You can make the argument for the 3/2 - but I think it's just that Seth doesn't know what Eerie Interference does) And it almost lost him the game vs Convoke.
I play on my phone at work sometimes. Certain actions, like sacrificing an artifact when you have several on the board, can be very tricky to do with touch controls. Also theres the rare times the phone dies or starts dying and its a race to the charger to get back in the match.
Plus random disconnects, lag (at least on my phone) when fetching and very clunky discarding/ card selection when you get past a certain number of accessible cards
I tried to do this with "Fog of War", a common from Brothers' War. The trouble with that one is that the opponent can pump their creatures out of range.
I run a lot of really weird white controly kind of decks, so I was aware of Eerie interference, turns out fog is really good when you're running a lot of tapped creature removal
It's refreshing and frankly startling to see a mana base that's ENTIRELY basic. No utility lands, gain lands, demolition, fetch-to-thin, man lands.... just 24 plains. I don't think I've seen a mana base like that in a long, LONG time
Loved that match against Golgari. Surprisingly effective! Also funny to have you draw 3 of your Temp Lockdowns & Eerie Interferences to beat out your opponent drawing 3 Goldvein Hydras
In some matchups you forgot that you can safely block with your creatures when casting Eerie Interference, because they won't be dealt damage, but they still deal damage to your opponents creatures.
I've had a fog decks using cornucopias, eerie interference, stasis coffin, jace, sunfall, etc. Honestly what hurt the most was losing Dryad's Revival (and deluge) That card let me turn 1 fog into 3 fogs, or recur jace as a win con, or get deluge back to cast it for 4 again, etc. Plenty of games I would win before rotation I can't win anymore, feels like a shame.
I used to use Eerie Interference with Arcane Bombardment.. and I am sad that I no longer have Bombardment in standard to prevent all creature decks from doing anything to me. RIP Arcane Bombardment.
I do play arena on my phone. But it doesn't cause me to play slow. The hardest part is any spells that you want to target yourself with. For some reason targeting yourself is super hard to do.
It’s not like they can really play around it. Like sure don’t play your 1/1, it’s not like you’re going to be able to win with it post lockdown anyways and if you play conservatively you end up losing to walls like beza or glissa or preacher of the schism
Hi Seth, I'm an old fart that has recently gotten back into magic. You have taught me so much and reminded me of good times I had in college. Would you be willing to do a Lich deck (Lich from unlimited) in arena? Thanks, -a new fan
Been looking to get into standard but you’re right, everything is stupid aggro which gets old fast so thanks for this deck! this one might do it for me…trying it out immediately haha
I play on my phone sometimes at work since I'm on overnights, and even with it plugged in there is always a delay on MTGA. Can't even move your cards around in your hand Seth you'd hate it haha
Computer Arena is completely busted for me since it downloaded a big update so i've been stuck playing on my phone lately. Works alright when I just want a quick game or whatever but I haven't dared to attempt any deckbuilding on mobile
My favorite decks are ones bred from meta hate. Nothing better than showing up to FNM with a deck to just hose the top deck cause you were salty all week from losing to it.
Might could try Tome of the Infinite with paradox engine and some mana rock or something to repeatedly conjure cards from the tome till you hit a ton of actual fogs. Might be something there i have a simic jank deck that utalizes it.
I play 90% of the time on my phone. I think the slowdown is just people playing slow. The random Disconnect I’d say is the phone, but just being slow, not a phone thing as far as I can tell.
36:10 Whenever play on my phone I struggle to target a player. Even when it says "target opponent" I still have to select them but it's super unresponsive when picking a player. It usually just brings up the mute prompt.
Yeah, I get that even as a BO3 dimir midrange player. At least aggro kills you quickly. Control gives you the illusion of hope when there sometimes is none lol
It was a combination of this channel, Wizards fumble on the Creepshow Secret Lair by neglecting the 1st movie and just put in general horror themed stuff; to cause me to build a U/R Modern Creepshow themed deck. I've been playtesting and it works pretty well against the new boogyman of modern in R/W Prime/Cred(Energy). It's mostly due to targeting your own creatures effects. I can post a deck list if interest is peaked.
Fuck red aggro, it really sucks all desire out from me to play Standard. Nice to see deck dealing with this bs, maybe time to construct one. edit This game against hydras, lmao.
