This is hands down a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. INDYCAR is the most diversified form of motorsport today. You have road courses; temporary street circuits; short track ovals; and super speedway ovals. Unlike any other racing series, cars reach speeds of 230 mph. To top it all off, the series has the largest attended race in the world, at the largest racing venue in the world, in a city that's dubbed The Racing Capital of The World. Um, yeah, there is no doubt this is a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
in 2011 the final race of the Izod IndyCar series at Las Vegas motor Speedway, but then there was this freak crash happened at Lap 11-13 dan’s family and friends were there but they don’t know what to do, Dan’s crew chief and pit crew’s best friend, his wife’s best husband and his sons best father is gone and his sons thought their life is over, but they didn’t give up they kept racing in their father’s footsteps hoping one day they will compete at the Indianapolis 500 One day in the future
Have you even seen the 2011 schedule ? There are actually 4 races outside of America not just 1. Sao Paulo, Brazil, Twin Motegi, Japan and the two races in Canada, Edmonton and Toronto.
@OldSchoolNascar There are a few more places that need to be back, too - Road America, Michigan, Mexico City, Pocono, Cleveland and Mont-Tremblant all deserve to be back, too. I don't disagree about Chicagoland, though. For some reason, it was just better than the other mile and a half ovals for these cars.
@HULKHODGY Your last sentence proved my point. It's the only Indycar racing in the world. Indycar World champion. I think the only reason they say that is because there is NO OTHER open wheel series in the world that makes you master Ovals, Street, and road courses. All others are just either all oval or all road and street like Formula Nippon and F1. Dario might hang mid pack with F1 drivers (and he would as his tests showed when he was younger), but he would whoop their butts on an oval.
The title World Championship does give the wrong impression as at the moment only three countries take part in Indy Car Racing. However the drivers themselves come from all parts of the globe and the fans also come from all parts of the world. So in some ways this could be called a World Championship. The skill level is much higher than F1 too.
Just remember the way government works in Italy. No responsibility. No shame. No attention to a crumbling country. For 20 years Italy has had virtually no growth, and nobody accepts the blame. Remember while in Las Vegas that the Italian Dallara has their culture and we in America have our American family values. Just like there are no kids allowed in the casinos- Indy car racing is Adult entertainment- not regarded as a "sport." SO HANDS OFF OUR KIDS
@BoilerByBlood Yeah but a world championship has races all around the world. Don't get me wrong I love Indycar, though I wouldn't call it a world championship when every race except 1 is in the American continents.
Are there any IndyCar series in the rest of the world???? No. Can you be IndyCar champion anywhere else in the world??? No. Then this is where you come to be the world champion in IndyCar racing. I think thats being honest.
@easleyrider Indycar is generally full of drivers who couldnt make it in F1, Indycar champion Dario Franchitti is an example, thats why they go there. Open wheel racing is all over the world, Its just your series is called Indycar and other series are called stuff like Formula Nippon, tho Generally other series are young drivers trying to make there way to F1. Dario Franchitti aint no world champion, He isnt Even an American champion, He is the champion of Indycar.
To be honest did they really. How much different was this race from Texas or Chicagoland or *insert 1.5 mile progressively banked tri-oval* it seems like you could have called this an inevitability.
lol anyone from out of the series i would love to hamilton try to handle these cars but no matter how much in 1st place he would be he would just crash them towards the end of the race just like in f1
@ocmetallicafan still, its not the open wheel racing world championship, that title is clearly for f1. im not gonna lie though, lately f1 is not much fun to watch and indy is.
@easleyrider Nobody wants to see race where drivers race in circles. its BORING! F1 Races at the best circuits the world has to offer, like spa francorchamps! the best and most testing street circuit, Monte carlo! I like Indycar but it just doesnt compare to F1 when it comes to testing the drivers like you claim. Dario Franchitti is the Indycar champion, not a world champion. You baseball is the same, it isnt no world series, its the American/Canadian series!
