I have RX10 advanced and the upgrade price to 11 is $300. Isotope is going to have to come up with a steep discount on that for me to consider the move. Not enough here to justify the cost to upgrade now, maybe I’ll check in on Black Friday.

You can always save 10% at Jrrshop, but I'm not sure if I've seen the Advanced upgrade cheaper than $299...maybe $199 during Black Friday. I can't even justify paying $199 a year for RX updates when there's usually one or two things that are improvements for my use. I'll wait until there's a true must-have new feature or something where the new feature is the only thing that will salvage a critical recording. That's how I ended up with RX9.

I tink I'm goinmg to stick with my workflow of cleaning up the raw files in RX 10 and finishing off in Fairlight.

That sounds like a good plan. It seems like a lot of us are going to stick with our current version of RX.

I suppose I'll echo what many here have said. I like that they streamlined dialogue isolate and dialogue de-reverb together, as i have found both of those very useful, and one would hope that the new algorithm iterations for those have improved a bit. But being on RX10 Adv, and frankly still having only scratched the surface of that version, can't fathom shelling out $300.

Even as someone who uses RX professionally, I can't justify the annual updates when there is so little in it each time for my needs. The only way I upgrade to RX11 is if Dialog Isolate is the only tool that can salvage a client recording, but I highly doubt that will happen. The only people I can see justifying this upgrade are those who are on RX8 or earlier. All of the new features and updates over those 3 versions is significant and worth the price. I can easily see skipping 2-3 releases between upgrades these days with RX.

Yeah, I'm testing it really trying to form an opinion. The Dialogue Isolate seems decent. At least on par with the others. The Dialogue Contour is a good update, but I don't use it nearly enough for that to be a big factor. Scaling on 4k screens is correct now (unless that was just an issue on my setup). And the Audio Dreiver Refresh is a nice quality of life. I'm a bit disappointed there's no dxRevive like functionality, or improved Mouth Declicking. Auphonic still seems to pull ahead in a lot of my tests which is just annoying because uploading audio to the cloud for processing is not ideal. It makes me wonder if Neural Network style denoising is similar to LLMs where some people get LLMs working locally on their system, but none of them can even compare to something like ChatGPT with its enormous model size and data set. If this were the case, I feel like we'll eventually end up with an Audiosuite plugin that sends the audio out to the cloud and back for processing, and these real time denosiers will be used for its nuance and automation in the mix. Just a random thought; at the moment the difference in quality is minute compared to the difference between a local and cloudbased LLM. I'll probably wait for a discount or see what RX 12 has.

You described Dialog Isolate perfectly. It's on par with the others, but nothing special. It's not a must-have plugin. Dialog contour feels like a tool for bigger budget projects. Podcasts just don't have the budgets to pay for that level of manual, micro detailed work. What dxRevive like functionality are you referring to that you would've like to have seen in DI? I've been happy with the Mouth De-click and haven't found anything better at cleaning up mouth noises. There are so many questions about how and where this technology is moving. I hope we don't find ourselves in a future where we have to use cloud processing for audio. It seems the cloud-based apps are aimed at a different audience than the companies making tools for audio work. As you mentioned, cloud-based apps are inefficient from a workflow and time perspective. It's why I don't use them. As ironic as it sounds, outside of these videos, I don't do A-B testing when choosing what I use. I'll do a quick test to see how well something performs and decide if it's something that makes a big enough difference that I need to add it to the tool kit. Since I'm looking for efficiency, cloud-based and subscription-based tools don't even get a try out...unless it's for a video or help someone in my community. Auphonic might be the greatest thing ever, but my clients have been happy with what I'm delivering without it, so I don't feel like I'm missing out.

I do ACX book narration and podcasting. Will RX 11 STANDARD AVE THE FEATURES YOU TALKING ABOUT ALSO? AND IT APPEARS THAT VERSION RX 10 IS DIFFERENT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE THE AI FEATURES BUILT IN? THE OVERALL QUESTION IS - IS RX 11 STANDARD ENOUGH FOR WHAT I NEED TO DO?
@jesse.mccune
@jesse.mccune 4 месяца назад
In most situations, RX 11 Standard will be more than enough for you. My recommendation is to start with Standard and only upgrade to Advanced if you find a need to. For podcast editing, I haven't used features from Advanced in over a year. Now that Dialog Isolate is included in Standard, I see no reason to start on Advanced.

Thanks for the vid! Nothing really blows my mind here as expected, tbh. And the upgrade price it too much as well. I'll be sticking with V 10 advanced. :)

After playing around with Dialog Isolate and Repair Assistant, they are good improvements, but the CPU hit when using them as plugins make them unusable for me.

Ultimately I think I'll skip RX11. There really isn't anything substantial enough to make it feel like an upgrade. A lot of it feels like stuff that should have been a free update. At the very least it should be significantly cheaper to go from one version to another. Even while on sale and upgrading from a previous version, it's far more expensive than any of the competitors I've seen. I also can't really think of a new revolutionary feature it could include at this point. Maybe I just lack the imagination but I think at this point any new tool would just be replacing or improving something they already have so no matter what every upgrade is going to feel small to me for that reason. Unless they can do something impossible like magically separate two voices that are layered on top of one another in sync, I don't foresee them ever having anything groundbreaking enough to upgrade from 10.

I agree with your comments here. I feel Izotope has been doing themselves a disservice by going to near-annual releases. For this one, I feel they probably had to pilfer from Ozone modules under development to have enough to release a new version of RX. Some of the new modules feel like they would fit in Ozone much better like the new streaming preview and loudness optimizer modules. For dialog editors, the last two or three releases have been lackluster and for someone who's still on RX 8, this might be a good release to upgrade to. I think the days of RX being an innovative program are in the rearview. This release shows they are now followers instead of leaders.

Maybe RX 13 or 14 will be when there's enough value to upgrade.
