sorry if this is nitpicking, 0:57 I think he said 公務員 (civil servant) and not 公民 (citizen). I could be wrong, but it sounded more like a むいん than みん imo, also kinda makes more sense...

Some people's concept of jobs aren't "doing something to earn money" rather some other idealistic view like "something to brag about", "being rich", etc. Typically it is the more older people.

That's a based dad right there. That's how parents should think tbh, they've done their educating and the future is up to their child once they've become an adult.

Well as much as it is sounds nice, the mother have her reason, especially Japanese. Shows the difference between individuality and collectives.
@SAKA-xf3wu
@SAKA-xf3wu 2 года назад
@@meferswift Yeah, I know. I face the similar things as someone in a strict Asian household, with my dad being more stricter about it. Then again, at the end of it it's always important to have balance. We've seen what too much individuality do to people these days, and too little only makes it difficult for growth and sense of identity.

More like that they should just be proud of their child having an honest job and stable earning. Jobs are still jobs as long as you earn good money it's not about bragging what you work as or being super proud of your job to other people after all living is about doing what you want and being happy.

izuru is really brave and admirable for always being so open about things like this. like, it's already admirable when some vtubers are able to casually reveal personal anecdotes abt their families, but it's another thing altogether when your family isnt exactly fully supportive or close with you. i really respect his openness and im just glad he has holostar members who look after him

I'm thankful to how open izuru is with these kinds of things. it's really relatable with how parents don't always understand what their kids are doing or want to do in life since there is such a big gap from what they considered as a feasible job back in the day vs now. I respect izuru for sticking to what he wants to do, perhaps one day his mom can listen to some of Izuru's music and understand his goals and aspirations too

@@natsudragneel-ir7sr But the advancement of technology is also the thing here. i mean my auntie (also taking care of me) who are already old is against me spending my time playing on my computer. But when I explain it to her why I am playing games and such. Is she understands it. She also know those professional players and such and never asked me to be like them. Maybe if you explain it to them more further they can understand it. Since this generation has like too much advancement from technology and the old people right now cannot keep up with it. So yeah explain them further that being professional is too much to reach if you start too late. Maybe you just said to your parents that "there's a lot of gamers who makes a lot of money on gaming" By that statement your parents will be fixed on thinking that being a gamer or playing games for years can earn you a lot of money. Communication is the key, if you cannot explain it to them properly and make them understand it. Do you expect them to understand it? but I agree that some parents are closed minded about gaming tho.

Exactly. Family and kids way to often get cited like a participation trophy for life, and while if it's something you and your partner want to start that's valid, but if you're only doing it because you want to invest in someone else's future and expect a return, or because you want to be seen as successful in the eyes of "society", then you really shouldn't. That's how you get children who grow distant from you or resent you because just like the generation before you, you have decided to set boundaries on what your child's success will be, and won't give them breathing room to find themselves.

I think the pressure really goes up if you're one of the eldest males. Especially in societies where it's generally frowned if not illegal for women to not take their husband's surname. I can understand as I am the only of age male in my whole extended family so the pressure isn't only from my own, but also everyone else. And I agree, if and when you reach old age without any companionship, unless you're filthy rich, you're pretty much doomed. Their sentiments are all valid, but just like anything else it has to be adapted to the needs and circumstances of this day and age.

3 months late to the discussion, but that's exactly what my mother tells me. She's always asking when I would get a boyfriend and that I should marry before I turn 30, since that's the best time for women to give birth. The thing is, I don't want that at all. I told her that and said I wanted to focus on myself. She said "okay"... only to bring up the topic again a few days later. Like my words just went through one ear and out the other. Now she's currently insisting that I should go out with a male friend that has feelings for me - without considering how I feel about it. "Even if you don't like him, he likes you, so it's okay. He'll take care of you." That sounded so wrong, like I should just use him for my future. I get where she's coming from. She just doesn't want me to be alone when I get old, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I think his mother's pov has to do more with marriage and stability, and Izuru understands that. Asian mothers for the most part are genuinely concerned about their child's future, and it bothers them when it's rather uncertain. A typical model "responsible adult" takes care of his family first and foremost, and I think Izuru understands that ideal that his mother has. That's why he brings up marriage as the cornerstone of his mother's point, and that he's not dating anyone atm (basically, he's saying that his mother thinks it's irresponsible to date someone while not seeking a stable job).

This comment section and Izuru himself made me realise that, in a general sense, women seem to be much stricter when it comes to a proper and steady future than men. And that considering that men are the ones who are usually on the receiving end of those demands. And yet, they are still generally more acceptive than women. I wonder why. Maybe because they understand the pain of heavy expectations and the weight of responsibilities a little better? It really makes me wonder about our gender culture.
@mcosmos-h2w
@mcosmos-h2w 2 года назад
eh, i dont think it’s fair to generalize such situations based on gender dynamics of parents. There are fathers who will be more strict and less understanding and moms who are the more supportive one. It depends more on the upbringing and attitude/personality of each parent

Well, that makes sense, but this is a really different scenario, where the parent's don't even understand the platform of RU-vid, let alone his career. Maybe it's for the best though, if he has trouble explaining it to his parents as it is, it might honestly be more of a headache if they knew more about what he specifically did. I understand his mom's concern in any angle. It's just that even when you gain so much popularity with being a vtuber or just generally as a youtuber, it's still not a very stable job to do for more than 10 years since a lot of vtubers are debuting and a lot of them offer the same content, if not better. So you're always like in a war or you always have to think about what to play next or content to put out there next. Some of your audience will stay but some will switch to another. It's a cycle that can possibly break someone at some point IF they're alone, that is

Its not practical to get married in Japan right now. Rent and food prices are sky high. Its bearable as a single but having a family means you have to provide proper meals other than the budget stuff single people can get and survive on. Plus, its the traditional mindset that men work and women stay home to raise kids and watch the house(mostly) that would put so much strain on the breadwinner. This is why lots of women work and marry late or never at all. There is also a chance of long hours and OT. OT(unpaid or paid) which would result in the breadwinner being so stressed and worn out that all he does is sleep when he gets home and there is also the chance that he will attend drinking sessions with his colleagues to give favourable impression on his boss. All these issues would lead to the wife being neglected/suffering from low-income that she would eventually cuck her own husband...

Honestly, online jobs are the ones paying more, and since people either don't understand or are jealous of it, they put a lot of excuses to try to make people feel bad. tbh, i prefer to do whatever the F* i like and gives me money (i'm an artist) than been useless outside, had a job who paids you low than you get from be at your own place and do what you like as a job, and marry someone who probably be a headache than anything else (mainly because, statistically, men don't want to date girls now days, let alone marry them, because of things like the feminism and been con by one of them easily, as they can abuse them and fake victimhood in order to had free money, plus a lot of entitled people running rampant around. Plus men now days dont' want someone lazy to be sitting around and do nothing at all, and prefer woman who also works like them).
