why do i like this song so much? liked it since i first saw the video on MTV back in the day dude is so much of a mystery but if he prefers that, more power to him
this is probably one of the most relaxing songs that ive heard in a while. i've been stressed out with all the shit going on around the globe at the moment, and this is helping me take a breather.
Aaron Ramone take a breather dude. You deserve it. Things are fucked up right now. We will get through this. Keep listening to cool shit like this. I can’t tell you how important music like this helps me out.
I love Izzy Stradlin. His voice, his guitar, his songwriting skills. Its all amazing. He's so talented, and im so tired of having to answer that puzzled "Izzy Stradlin? Who?" from all the kids my age. He should e so much more famous than he is. The guy should e a legend.
***** Dude, I was just saying that he's epic and deserves more recognition. I'm fully aware that I'm not a special snowflake, that there have been billions of people just like me on this planet, and I'm okay with that. In a few decades I'll be just as dead and forgotten as most of them are. But some people should be remembered, and he's one of them.
how old are you??? im 10 and this is my 1st time listening to Izzy when he's NOT playing guitar in Guns n Roses. so far i like his music... just 1 straw away for being as good as he was In GNR for me
W Brown Axl wrote some songs, Izzy wrote some, they both co-wrote also, izzy might've wrote more songs, but without Axl there'd be no guns n roses, he's one of the greatest frontman in rock history, slash is an overrated guitarist, he's alright, guns n roses could've found someone just as good. And I have done some research, I read a biography on them.
@@Godloveszazahe is most definitely not the dave of gnr. he also does not get enough recognition. if he was as overrated as you say his solo stuff would be was more successful than it is
@@Godloveszaza Izzy was very supportive for Axl when he had to come to Los Angeles to become a rock star. He was her best friend, and they both believed they could go far. It's not just what he brought to Guns And Roses. It was a very strong pillar that had to be there for the band to continue destroying everything as it always did. When he left, even Axl must have thought it wasn't even worth it anymore. In fact, after he left, they didn't release any more albums. It's an amazing band that wasn't meant to last long. But they left such a large stellar mantle that to this day we are all grateful for it.
I am very proud to say that my friends and I were able to see Guns N' Roses one time with Izzy at the very beginning of the Use Your Illusion Tour with Skid Row at the Inglewood Forum. We walked out of there delirious for three days talking about the show over and over again, no joke. Make no mistake about it, there was something almost paranormal about that band, even with Gilby. Thank God we have You Tube to post these bootleg and occasional pro-shot videos to relive some of that magic. Izzy is without question one hell of a talent and the way Izzy and Slash blended together is impossible to put into words.
This has a major Rolling Stones vibe. This is Richards, Wood, & Jagger influencing one man. Izzy is a legend just like those before him. His music is timeless.
Izzy was always my fave feller in G n' R. His rhythm playin was tuff as hell, & when I realized he wrote all my favorite riffs on "Appetite", that settled it. Saw them open for The Cult in '87, then again in early '91, before the sophomore sets dropped & Izzy was still there. Without Izzy, I felt the Soul of Guns n' Roses had been dislodged.🦃⚡🎸🤯😵🦃⚡🎸🤯😵🦃⚡🎸🤯😵🦃
michael vedder I don’t know about that. As far as I know, November rain, estranged, welcome to the jungle and civil war weren’t written by him. I’d say it was a combination of his and Axls songwriting efforts (as well as slashes guitar solos) that made gnr.
Izzy is the best! People always asked me, 'why Izzy'? Slash and Duff were super cool, but Izzy always kept me going, especially this song. My youngest brother said to me on xmas day, 'if Duff MacKagan says you're the coolest guy in the world, then you must be!' Slash, one of the best guitarists ever, acknowledges his brilliance. He wrote some of the best GnR songs ever!!! I come from Scotland, but this guy makes me want to travel the world!
+gar y Haha sure. It's really GNR's fault Izzy quit because he wanted to live a life of solitude and be the lead singer, and that Adler is a fucking junkie.
+Brandon Henderson Izzy had arguably the biggest heroin problem of all them. He was a huge heroin dealer in Los Angeles in the early-mid 80's. Of course he got completely clean in '91 and stopped doing all drugs and drinking while Adler, Slash, and Duff continued using but you can't act as if Adler was the lone druggie in the band.
No, I know this. It's just Adler's problems still seem to be an issue in his life, which is very likely why he was not included in the reunion (or Axl just really loves Frank Ferrer, I don't know).
+Gage Horn Except the rest of them cleaned up...while Adler did not. Hell he toured with Duff a couple years back and by his own admission was loaded and drunk of his ass for that...just 2 years ago. And think about it this way. Back in '89/'90 his drug use was so bad that the other drug addicts in the band were looking at his going "holy shit he's to far gone". I'm sure Adler's a nice guy, but damn...
izzy brought that funky, southern tone and sensibility to everything he did in gnr and made that band something completely different. maybe the most under appreciated "rythmn" guitarist ever.
Izzy was an integral part of GNR. Pure talent. GNR wasn't quite rhe same after he left, the same goes for Steven Adler. The original lineup of GNR will always be the best.
I don't think Adler having to be replaced was nearly as impactful as Izzy leaving. That being said, I do think Fortus is doing a pretty good job in GnR.
If GNR records a new album they're gunna have to bring back Izzy if they ever want to remotely capture any of that old sound they once had. He's the backbone to those first two albums. GNR were my Rolling Stones
Damn, I had no idea he could sing. And damn good. I am very impressed. I am a Stones man and this is up there with them. Great job. Love the band. You ain't missing nothing in GNR, this sounds better than AXL trying to sing.
This guy is a legend enough said the heart and soul of GN'R. His guitar playing is unique one day maybe he might be part of that machine that calls themselves "the most dangerous band in the world" live life in the fast lane Feeling like a spacebrain one more time tonight!!!!
Sometimes a song comes up randomly that fits the situation and the feeling so well that you have to acknowledge that it's the perfect soundtrack to a moment in your life. This is that song for me. Thanks guys.
Saw this club tour in Detroit Michigan and won a signed framed flat promo for it working at a record store from the company for a promotional display I did. All these years later it's still a highlight of my life. Amazing album. B sides are tight as well.
in my opinion, izzy's first solo album was his strongest. everything about that LP breathed cool. when you listened to it, it was like you could take a trip inside izzy's head and experience who he was as a person. definitely an album to have when you feel like taking on the world all by yourself :)
***** yep. izzy's basically screaming "FREEDOMMMM!" on that album. you hit the nail on the head about peace and contentment. izzy references "time" a lot in his songs and talks about going your own way a lot.
GnR came out just as I discovered pot. I remember listening to them on headphones in a dark room while deeply stoned for possibly the first time... & the rhythm of each song was what, somehow in a "this only happens once" kind of experience, sent electric pulses zinging up & down my nervous system, SYNCHRONIZED to Izzys rhythmic patterns.... I never recaptured that experience no matter how much of what I smoked but I recall it vividly to this day. & have ever since (this was, like, 87) thought of Izzy as the true essential element of the sound.
I love this album and even after 20 years of listening to it, love it just as much as the first time of hearing. This track is my 'life' song. If you know, you know. ❤
This is the first time I've heard this and I like it. Manages to sound laid-back and cool yet upbeat and somewhat driving. Makes me think back to more innocent times gone by before the internet was mainstream. Cheers!
Fall 1992...got my first radio job. Had to go in for minor surgery. Listened to this CD about 100 times while recuperating. 25 years later, it is in my car's CD player. Killer debut album from one of rock's most unsung songwriters.
