To make a further observation, that what is “agogic” about the “accent in time” is not the accented note itself, it’s the way in which the balance of time is restored. Agogic is one of the words-like synagogue, demagogue, pedagogue and so on-that describes herding or directing toward a goal; it has to do with restoring the balance disturbed in this case by the accent.
