@@bigbilly9657 He had a genetic/hereditary heart condition which might've been exacarbated by steroids. He seeked treatment for it, sadly didn't react on time.
Predictions: 1. There is no point in being alive if you cannot do the deadlift. 2. I'M NOT AN ESKIMO, I'M A VIKING. 3. I AM THE STRONGEST. I AM THE VIKING. 4. I TOLD YOU ALL THE TIME, I BLOODY TOLD YOU 5. FOR ICELAND! edit: woah jack did his research these were not normie jón páll memes
@@EVO6-Yeah, but like Hafthor, most modern day strongmen are a lot beefier than the classic ones. Hafthor absolutely dwarfs Jon Pall in size, so its still impressive watching Sigmarsson just waltzing with the Husafell stone.
@@JonyMSalomon it's not a fair comparison. Thor was being timed to go as fast as possible, and also had just done a stone medley. JP is a legend forever but he wasn't close to as strong as Hafþór, whose deadlift max was 130kg heavier than his. If Björnsson really wanted to, he could do that with the stone.
Hands down my favorite strongman of all time an amazing competitor, kind and funny and one of biggest and best personality’s in the sport and he died like a true Viking with his weapon of choice in his hand a barbell in the middle of his favorite exercise A True Legend
A true strongman, the perfect combination of strength and athletic power, but the most impressive year was in 1987 when he showed up for the Pure Strength contest. It is rumored that, in a deadlift training on the same year, he deadlifted 427.5 kg (without suit). However, good job as always Jack!
Realistically..that 427.5kg deadlift rumor is just a rumor. Unless it was a rack pull of some sort. If he was That strong he wouldve competed in powerlifting far more. A deadlift of 427.5kg in 1987 at his bodyweight (id assume hes under 308lbs) would still be a world record today 33 years later. He was incredibly strong...and a great showman...but not 30+ years ahead of the other elite deadlifters.
Don't get me wrong the stone dance is incredible, but Hafþór was himself 1: at the end of a circuit after several pressed and atlas stones, and essentially 2: being timed. He had to do it as quickly as possible to win
Can't wait for the Colin Bryce meme experience. It will just be him saying "Competitor ready! Take the straaaaiiiiiin!" Then the entire Space Cowboy video without edits. Then at the end him saying "Good lift!"
So glad you did a Jón Páll Sigmarsson meme experience vid. I recently bought a shirt with the famous deadlift quote on it for when I can make my epic retvrn to the gym after lockdown.
They cut out the middle part, when he runs up to the host (Hemmi Gunn) mid blow, and he screams out in a mix of laughter and terror "NONONONONONNONONONONO!!!!". Jón Páll was an exceptionally strong man, but also very kind and funny.
Nice vid, thanks for posting this! Jon was one of the first real entertainers in WSM... Bruce Wilhelm was a good one as well... let's just say he believed strongly in the superiority of the olympic weightlifter... Thought I would see his "deadlift" comment, but you gotta have content for other vids! Always enjoy your stuff, Jack. Keep 'em coming!
I've used 'There's no reason to be alive, if you can't do deadlift' in loads of vids in the past. Didn't want to recycle memes. I kinda did it right at the end though. Thanks for the support!
0:43 correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is a "no lift" because in most powerlifting federations in the 80s the rules state that on bench press both elbows have to lock out at the same time or the lift doesn't count.
1. There´s noreason to be alive if you can´t do deadlift 2. The KING has lost his Crown! 3. Look! Kazmaier! 4. Kaz say´s im paper champion, well last year in a strength contest i beat him 8/10 events 5. *(SLAYING IMAGINARY PEASaNTS WITH A IMAGINARY SWORD)*
