This the first song that was playIng in my head on my 1st prison term & it really was raining on my way back home to Los Angeles but when I got to LA it stop raining mysteriously.
He actually wrote these verses for diddy to rap them cause diddy wanted him to write the song for him but I guess cole was to lyrically for anyone to believe it was diddy
No. It was because J. Cole wanted to be paid. Jay-Z wrote the actual one that diddy used, he did it for free. If J. Cole changed his mind, and decided he didn't want to be paid, this is the version that we would've gotten from Diddy.
cole actually had credits on the songwriting, it seems like jay let cole do his reference track but jay didnt co sign it for diddy, and in all honesty cole didnt have mainstream lyrics on this, diddys official version sounds a lot more marketable
To all of you guys saying this is better than Diddy's version. Actually J. Cole wrote those verses for Diddy back in 2010, but he chose another ghostwriter.
It was written for Diddy. Diddy asked J. Cole and Jay-Z to write it. They each wrote their own version. Jay-Z's version was the one that was used, cause J. Cole wanted money, while Jay-Z would do it for free.
