One of the strangest developments in rap took place last night where J. Cole essentially retired from the beef just a couple of days after his response to Kendrick. #rap #jcole #drake #kendricklamar Socials linktr.ee/iusedtobepay
@@kuvf9816They're saying just off Aura because it's only one verse, no social media activity, no public appearances, no public performances of him saying fuck the other side or whatever, just the one verse
It's baffling how J Cole, as a 39 y/o man, did not have the courage to stick to his guns against the peer pressure trying to force a response to Kendrick he never wanted to make (saying things he never believed), yet he somehow had the courage to make that speech, knowing it would completely humiliate him and damage his reputation. He _should_ be losing sleep over the response to the apology, more than the response to "7m Drill". This apology is costing him respect, fans, and potentially album sales when 'the fall off' drops. His career could really take a hit from this and he doesn't seem to care. If he really felt this way he could have chosen silence from the jump and avoided all of this. 🤫ig hindsight is 20/20 🤷🏾♂
@@davesenatus5566JID the only one I think that could take Kendrick in a beef. They both have that aggressive energy with tremendous wordplay and flow changes.
Tbh with all the comments and the apology coming days after, I feel js my opinion is that J Cole really doesn’t want beef with Kendrick Lamar seeing as how they was going to collab years back when and never did. He probably wants to feature Kendrick on his “Fall Off” album before you know…and I still listen to both so quit with the sucking comments this world is riddled with diddlers😖😖💯
@@ARU-vidUser1 I don’t think JID can take on Kendrick simply because Kendrick has more to say and reached more success than JID so they are on different tiers as rappers. But if anyone in that camp came close to having what it takes to go back and forth with Kendrick it would for sure be JID.
I’m from Fayetteville. I love Cole, but he was the one asking for this and dropping names in songs for years, calling himself the best ever. It’s like when they brought his food to the table, he didn’t want to eat it anymore.
J. Cole has been sneak dissing K. Dot for years too. Furthermore, he knowingly participated in Drake's agenda to exclude Kendrick from the Big 3 conversation; this is the whole reason Cole had to recieve a stray; no way was Kendrick ever going to let that slide. Also, I disagree with you about Cole's diss about Kendrick's inactivity: That doesn't work either because basically he's trying to say it's a bad thing for artists to take their time to create quality work---if anything, the other way around should be scoffed at. Just look at Drake: If that dude actually gave himself pause between projects, perhaps we wouldn't be subject to atrocities like Honestly Nevermind, and his latest output wouldn't be so laden with filler and cringe bars.
He definitely included him in the big 3 and furthermore your opinion of music is subjective just because you didn't like honestly nevermind doesn't mean others didnt.
@@Thelasthoebender your talking about the spider man bar? Also why tf would I read the lyrics when they are spoken clear as day. Lil Kenny got his panties in a bunch because his friend has a new friend
@@channelZER01 Ight g it’s clear you’re not fully matured in the head I’m not gonna even get into this bs with you. Have a good day brother, I hope you find peace
@Thelasthoebender fully matured because I didn't read lyrics that were spoken to me? Get over yourself bro lol it's not that deep to look into. But your mostly use to kendrick bars where you have to listen 60 times watch the video and then wait for se random fans to explain its meaning to you. Good day
u can't boast on every other song and feature for years as if you're someone who wants or is open to competition and then walk out the ring when ur card gets pulled. The worst thing a rapper can do is lose the trust of the consumer. And as we just saw, all that competitive rap shit over the years was a lie, he's not "like that" fr
This was the distraction Drake needed to not have to respond. Now, people aren't going to ask Drake to respond because this sucked the air out of the entire battle.
😂😂😂 Drake sent Cole as a pawn and Cole realized that he really didn’t want to destroy that relationship with Dot because Drake is fickle asf and their fake friendship isn’t gonna last past the summer!!!
All he had to do was say on stage, “ don’t get it twisted Kendrick my brother, but ain’t nobody messing with me in this rap game PERIOD.” And that would have been received better. But what he said was a spit in the face of hip hop history smh
@@see3deezzExactly! I don’t understand how people say that wasn’t a backhanded compliment. Kendrick should’ve been on the song if Cole wanted to say something bout a big 3.
Kendrick is untouchable for some reason he barely make music and considered the best artist. No other top artists can get away with that. Also that apology was not normal he definitely got a call lol
Disappointed in Cole too but what he did was kinda lame and hypocritical. He said it, he made a great album displaying his rapping ability and used the diss to propel his sales. You can't say Kendrick uses controversy and you got here with bars and do that. Plus he didn't even want to do it like he went against what he said on middle child and his raps on MLD about not being true to yourself putting up a front. #prideisthedevil
As a true Cole fan u suggest a worthy rapper but cole clearly don’t care bout the apology they spared y’all started dick eating n just wanna cancel him for being real that’s what’s crazy to me. N he proved that he was G cuz he stepped up n threw a warning shot so if Ty want it he gonna have to prove it to me
@@chimchu3232 I tend to divide these up by generation, and I think JID is part of the generation that formed after Kendrick/Cole/Drake meta, and he should definitely be considered big three for his generation.
@@jkh102642 yeah nah lol. I think those guys make solid party music and could perhaps be considered for a conversation centered around the big three for that lane, but they don't belong in this discussion.
Great video, but the only thing that is wrong is that Cole didn’t start it. Cole has been throwing subs for the last 5 years or so. People have to go back and listen to what Cole has said throughout the years. Kendrick has responded but Cole nor Drake are innocent in this. Also, Cole has been asking for someone to challenge him literally in the last year or so.
Them 2 lines you said got overshadowed are kinda eh simply because of how simple they are lie fly rhymes kinda basic and then the 4 albums in 10 years is just as hypocritical as the sleepy bar. He has 1 extra release than kendrick in the same time frame
"If you call somebody ugly but they're not ugly", I think that's a really good distinction about the "subjectivity" of music. I don't believe music is subjective. I think our tastes are, but when it comes to the actual value of a song, we can't act like it's all based on our likes and preferences or otherwise there'd be no reason for any of us artists to actually try and hone our craft when one person can subjectively call good singing "bad" and bad singing "good".
The phrase arms too short to box with God comes from an old poem so Cole didn't come up with that that phrase has be used many times in regular speech and rap through the years
Worst part is that all yall trauma queens are too distracted by lyrical blood-spilling to recognize that the rest of the Might Delete Later project is insane
Cole kept Kendrick name in his mouth... said he was Muhammad Ali... said K cant box with GOD ??? & expected nothin to happen. spineless bruh shi make me sad 😭💀

Saying MMTBS is one of his worst is crazy. GKMC TPAB (10/10) MMTBS Sec 80 (9/10) Overly Dedicated Damn (8/10) This is my ranking of Kendrick albums. Lmk y’all’s.
@@SweaterSwagg I mean this is all opinion so I’d disagree. I don’t think I’ve skipped a song yet tbh. Def his least playable album tho. It is def more of a solo listen.
The gmoney reference does not work. A mercy kill basically because your brother is down and can't recover? Kendrick is nowhere near a low. It would not ve a mercy kill, it would be a clash of titans. That stuff about Kendrick being a fly? All nonsense. The whole diss was cap. Even cole didn't believe it. That's why he had to apologize
PAY FIRST honestly if im being honest jcole aint no gangster rapper, on the lower end of his albums he dabbles in a bit of psychedelic with trav or cudi vibes but as a general ***artist*** he isn’t like that, kendrick actually predicted this back in tpab, matter of fact this beef has been going on for 8 years, hasn’t just started, kendrick baited cole by saying his style was too bland and he wasn’t competitive enough to be in the big 3 because the big 3 is competitive and are responsible for huge parts of rap and are supposed to refine and shake up how rap works for the better, cole proved he’s a good rapper but at what cost? dot was merely just clowning him since he calls him self as influential rapper enough to be in the big 3, so it doesn’t matter, kendrick perfectly executed this.
Like that really went over a lot of people heads…. Almost every bar was directed at both of them at the same time. It wasn’t just a drake diss every bar had multiple meanings…. The reason Cole even said anything about dots albums was that your best work is a light pack prince out lived Mike jack. That shit was for both of them
I just competitive music man. It didn’t need to be personal. If it went back and forth, I can see how pressure would start to have personal shit said. Then ok let’s stop. Idk.
Kendrick must have some special information and called Cole. “If you don’t want this to leak, you gonna do exactly what I say!”. There is literally no other way man 😂😂😂
To be honest after listening to it all plus the apology... Heres how i think the whole thing went down.... Drake and future have a existing beef over a chick- Drake and cole put out FPS --- Kendrick, future and metro put out Like That and yess theres a diss but i really dont think its directed towards JCole. I think its at Drake and JCole is caught in the crossfire. Everyone hypes up JCole because they know Drake not gonna respond. He doesnt want to but does it to appease the fans and his dudes and i am guaranteeing Drake Gassed him to do it. After JColes 7 minute drill drops Kendrick calls Cole. Says hey bro you know it was directed at Drake and JCole says damn man i really shouldnt have done this thats my boy. Then does the apology befause its hitting him that he fucked up. And now we are here all the momentum of the beef has been taken away and Drake had an excuse to not reply . Idk just a theory but it would make sense.
@@jonathanwilson1539 yeah I could see him gassing him and hyping up to attack his bro Kendrick..... And then Cole realized shit man this wasn't even directed at me
@@crawlinginfaithbdalingo5515 other than the big me bar...not really and even that's not really a hit to Cole as much as it is drake. But hey is what it is.
I dont know why people think this whole project is a diss. He been working on this for months. The only actual diss was the diss track. Everything else is just regualr rap shit
I disagree with one of your ending statements. Drake is still 3. Drake is not going to respond, and if he does, it's getting someone that's not him to jump kendrick
Coles response was not underwhelming. Although I hate that he apologized.... Because why.... His clap back was ridiculous. If you don't agree then you just got Kendrick meat in your mouth. J. Cole isn't even my favorite artist. I am just being completely honest that many people don't know music or just had it in their head from the beginning that Kendrick Lamar can never lose. Which is dumb. If you want to come at Cole for the apology then do that... Matter of fact ill join you. But we not about to disrespect J. Cole response track. It was 🔥🔥🔥
drake being silent could work in his favor if he drops by the end of the week. but i agree, future needs to be in this convo at this point his influence alone holds so much weight.
J Cole should have never responded. I know everybody wants competition but Cole cannot compete against Kendrick when he has admired KDot his whole career. He has no angle against Kendrick. Y’all want him to diss someone he genuinely fucks with.
You do know he hopped on a song with someone who doesn't like Kendrick and Cole knew that. Drake dissed Kendrick so much on FPS so they had this coming from Kendrick. I think Cole realized he chose the wrong side and now he has to live with it.
18:06 how does profanity and RU-vid monetization work? I thought you could let a few words slip here and there and it still be ok lol But good job on this breakdown bruv!!! Cole def left us all disappointed af Don’t think he can recover from this the same as before
The disappointment from rap fans comes from always wanting to see them go bar for bar before Kendrick even made the verse anyway so this was their excuse to see them battle & highkey because they know that Drake wont respond or take his time (time that they dont want to wait for). So its "well at least we get cole & kdot" but never took into account this isnt even his beef. Those bars from "Like That" where 90% Drake & 10% Cole & I think Cole realized mid battle that its not even his fight. It is disappointing because if that's the case, he should have kept quiet all together but that just bleeds into my original point and how he felt rushed into doing something that he didnt even want to do.
The way this went down reminds me of the kdot bar where he was “I promise u’ll see candy man”… Nicki failed so hard on that big foot track she couldn’t be in the BIG 3, I’d nominate xxx first, just off the strength he didn’t back down.. so j. Cole @ like 4 or 5 in the BIG 3.
I actually think Cole was talking about GKMC being the boring one that people gassed because on the Joe Budden podcast they said that Cole loved TPAB so much that he tried borrowing a similar TPAB style for his album “4 your eyez only”. So I think the albums that Cole thought was hot from Kendrick is Section 80 and TPAB.
Maybe? Was it just me or did anyone notice the change in Cole that year he dropped For Your Eyes Only? I swear he was gone for some years and popped out with dreadlocks, and his cadence when he raps reminded me of Kendrick so much! He was biting his flow hard. Tbh if you’re a Cole Fan you’re also a fan of some or maybe all of Kendrick’s projects. This “Beef” is showing true colors of the fans. “When shit hit the fan is you still a fan?” -Kendrick Lamar
love ur videos bro tiny bit of constructive criticism: pls lower the amount of “i love so and so… but” you already prefaced at the beginming you’re a fan of j cole and like his music it just feels like you’re rambling a bit. Even if he does see this video you’re only breaking down the situation as you see it
