Few years ago I was watching 2 metalhead brits not knowing the biggest names in rap. Now I’m watching the same guy catch bars left and right and doing references to other rappers even recognising what type of beat they would be on. Jon what a legend you are.
100% agree FHD classic but still not that hunger and I love 4yeo and KOD but this is another level, same hunger as mixtape cole just way better skill wise
@@adamcraig4255 There are people saying this is a work of art and Cole’s best project, what? He’s rapping over generic trap beats. The hi hats sound like they’ve been stretched, meaning they’re really low quality. The soul samples have also obviously been massively stretched, how hard is it to keep to a similar bpm as the original sample? If anyone but Cole put this out it would be a 5/10 record.
Ikr, I literally didn’t expect this to come after listening to the climb back(which is also a favourite for me) and Close cuz they had a totally different vibe, but this was straight up uplifting and sounded like an Anthem. Also don’t ask me why I’m just commenting, I remember hearing the entire album before, but since I was a new Cole fan I decided to listen to everything from the beginning and now I’ve arrived back here and this album is crazy
~Timestamp~ 0:38 - 95 South 2:45 - Amari 5:07 - my life 8:36 - applying pressure 11:18 - punching the clock 12:30 - 100 mil 14:06 - pride is the devil 18:04 - let go of my hand 21:22 - interlude 22:07 - climb back 25:00 - close 26:10 - hunger on hill side
Finished a night shift at 6am this morning, was incredibly tired but after listening to the album on the drive home, I fought sleep and drove around for another 40 minutes to listen to it all again. No skips, some of my favourite Cole songs ever in My Life and Close. 10/10, worth the fucking wait.
Here’s the thing, I never cringed so much looking at the word mid because that seems to be the only word these haters know; 10 min after it was released and they call it mid, it’s honestly concerning, and even then, they probably barely listened to it, if they continue with a few more listens, they will probably enjoy it a little more, because Ik I did after a few more listens, overall I enjoyed it more than I thought
@@bakhtiyarguseinov9402 I think that’s the problem with a lot of people nowadays when listening to music. I mean I’m quick to point out what I don’t like in an album, and if I don’t like it I’ll straight up say it. But I am able to factor in everything and note things that I did like on the album despite disliking most of it. People are too quick to judge when they should let it marinate. While I wouldn’t say The Off-Season is a 10/10 for me personally, I enjoy the hell out of this album. I just think interlude and the climb back really dampen this album. But overall I’ll still bump all of it
Incredible blend of modern day rap and his introspective thoughts of this modern world. Let go of my hand feels like a perfect song for his evolution of a person to become a father and feels like a throwback to 4 your eyez only. 🔥🔥🔥
He took it to a whole new level for this album, it’s so crazy. The evolution from KOD to this is mind boggling. I knew he was special, but this seriously feels like the best stuff I’ve ever heard from him. It still isn’t a 10. I feel like The Fall Off is gonna be his grand 10.
@@392lu Album is fucking great, that isn't even an argument, might not be his best but to say its trash is no wheres close to true, that cant be debated.
The basketball player was Damian Lillard who is known for "DAME TIME" where he taps his hand like he has a watch on it. That's why the song is called punching the clock.
Imagine Cole opening up with 95 South... I'm on my 3rd playthrough if you count watching your reaction on patreon. It just gets better and better on each listen. I'm so impressed with how Cole developed his skill even further. That feature run he did really leveled him up
Cole using those features to bettter his skills giving me hope for Nicki 🙌🏿🙌🏿 she did samething doing ton of features w young artist her Queen album just was bad and sonuded like every song was just plugged into a beat and hook. But Fractions and Seeing Green she found her new sound while still being Nicki. Cole,Drake,Nicki and hopefully Kdot...2021 about to be a year for the old heads!!!
This album is FANTASTIC , JCole doing what JCole does best his rapping ability is untouched he deserves to be the bar for the lyrical rappers out there. He also deserve serious credit for all the instrumentals he uses they always seem to fit perfectly to what ever style he throws on the track!
I like how he added features a day after. Gives you the element of surprise on first listen but then also gives the features credit (amazing for smaller artists). Hope that becomes a new trend
Let Go My Hand and Close are both some of my favorites from this album and as album cuts period from Cole. He really was top tier with this project. I’m so proud.
That scream "ooohh ohhh ohhh ohhh" in the amari track got me. My favorites: Amari, 100 mil, pride is the devil, close, and hunger on hill side. Classy reaction. Keep it going.
It’s crazy to see how much you have grown as a reactor if you compare this to the first no role modelz reaction on rock reacts! Love the growth and the grind my man. Much love!
You can FEEL how hungry he is!! Even after 100 mill. We’re gonna come back to this in a few years and recognize it as a classic Cole mixtape. Lets go!!!
I’m pretty sure that unrecognized feature is Bas. Someone who you definitely need to react to, especially Too High To Riot, or even the first Revenge Of The Dreamers where I first heard him on “Ceelo With The G’s”
Imagine when J Cole release the fall off and it is a collaboration with Kendrick album for when they both retire and the album being called the fall off as they are done with music.
I replied and told Morray when he commented on your reaction video to Quicksand to do a song with J. Cole, I don't know for sure if it was my comment that made him do it but I'm so glad he did! 🔥🔥🔥🎵🎼🎵
All the way from South Africa.. Bro u got it, you bro got it. How I would enjoy/love a podcast where you just go on and dissect an album. I'm speaking for all your fans bro.
The basketball player in punchin' the clock is Damian Lillard who plays for the Portland Trailblazers, the interview was from last year's NBA bubble after the league came back from the COVID shutdown
Damn... That energy. Loved it, it surprised me in a good way but I do feel it sounds like a prelude to a bigger thing, The Fall Off. Mixtape vibes, shit's crazy
Really looove this reaction video man. You understood/really tried to understand the music; lyrics and the production. Really feeling the artist that's what I like!!! Best reaction for this album in my opinion
For people living in the US, we got this album the night after the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks. It’s like a celebration of life getting somewhat back to normal
Man, Let Go of My Hand hit me hard. I'm 23 and single, but I am HERE for the dad rap. Absolutely love the real life wisdom like that in music, and we need more of it from our veteran rappers who tended to avoid that type of content before recently. I will never forget the interview where Andre3000 shrugged off making new music and asked "Does anyone want to here dad rap?", YES WE DO ESPECIALLY FROM YOU 3K. Thank you Logic and Cole for normalizing dad rap for mega-rappers, I hope Kendrick gives us his own version of some dad rap as well when he drops. I love some of the songs off this project, not sure its a great project as a whole yet but some of these tracks are classic no doubt. Im crossing my fingers that Cole is saving up his best features like JID, Bas, EG, Cordae, Logic, hopefully Kendrick or 3k collab for his retirement album the Fall-Off.
One of the Best albums of the year thus far in my opinion. Gave me strong Mos Def-esque vibes circa The New Danger era. Which is one of my all time fav artists and albums. And that lil Jon sample, it was giving me life. Omg I love this album to death. It’s special. It’s incredible. It’s delicious. To the Gods Of Rap, I thank you.
On second listen, it still has good songs like, but I still dont really like Cole being melodic and how some of the samples were flipped during certain points.
said the same thing about my.life sounding like a toned down sample from A Lot. Great reaction video. I was in my element listening at midnight. Needed this album to bring new energy into my artistry.
I read a comment on Reddit earlier saying that it might be another DAMN kind of thing where you have to play it in reverse for the real story. Apparently you can’t take 95 south to get to Hillside, you have to leave Hillside to get to 95 south in NY. At least, according to the Reddit comment
Jon is the GOAT no debate, seen Cole live in Manchester a few years back and it was honestly one of the best days of my life. He brought so much energy and spoke to the crowd about his life and made us feel like family. Incredible

THIS ALBUM IS WHAT THE GAME NEEDED! there are many different sides of J. Cole in this album which i related with each aspect of. The features fit inn perfectly like a puzzle. All I hope now is that we don't have to wait very long for the "The Fall Off" because the game needs these kinds of things. My question is now that J.Cole dropped this album what's going to happen music wise concerning him. Is he going back into the vault? is going to drop a single or record from time to time. With all of the material that J. Cole has given us this album has given me something that i cant explain its like he knows exactly what he's doing in terms of his sound whether its singing or rapping. But overall this is the best J. Cole album I've listened. 10/10
Man this album was pretty good. The quality of his albums increase every time he drop. The album is different then KOD, but it sounds like he applied similar energy. Same with Revenge of the Dreamers III. I loved it probably just as much as Born sinner. The thing that stands out the most to me is how he keeps finding new flow patterns and his energy omg. When rappers find new flows, they are fucking different. Reminds me of Tunechi. FHD still my fav but this was crazy. I can’t wait for The Fall Off.
