This beat reminds me of elementary school in the fall. Leaves all over the ground.. Hearing the wind softly blowing outside of the classroom door, while we sat there drawing or reading with thick jackets on.
Dope Dilla face sticker on my back windshield rollin' around Detroit showing respect like I'm spose to. Dilla will always be Motown's finest! R.I.Beats.
Eerily, I believe J-Dee put a lot of thought and soul into this track... His own soul... Like he'd know we'd be saying, "Where is Jay, I wonder... We sure do miss him. We needed him." I think that's what the vocal is saying... Where is Jay? Where is Jay? I escape into this song when life just couldn't possibly look any worse overall... and I just ease away and stare into the clouds... listening to the Wind.
It's always nice to come back to this song. I love when Dilla uses that ghostly "wind" sound around 1:02. Between that and the title, it reminds me of walking the streets at dusk in the Fall with friends when I was a kid. Especially around Halloween.
This beat along with all of them on Vintage remind me of being up late at night and looking out your window at the dark street, knowing everyone else is fast asleep
I always come back to this beat, something about this instrumental is so calming and unearthly. J. Dilla was definitely something beyond our solar system.
Aw men.. This beat has a lot of meaning for me. I remember the times I used to be at peace smoking some nugs, chillin, and hoping for the best. If only I could go back.. Life right now is different compared before, but if I feel a little down I listen to this beat and remember that life can be easy if we just stop and relax for a moment. Thanks, Dilla!
It’s like when you have food, you balance the sweet n spicy, Jay Dee balanced the subtle n hard. That bassline w that soft lil sample... Crazy shit. I think the word is thrown around a lot today, but damnit, the man was a Genius.
J Dilla was the musical equivalent of someone who could speak several languages fluently. There isn’t an element of sound that J Dilla HASNT mastered and that is what seperates him from all other producers.
Vocals sound a little bit like Singers Unlimited, but the direct sample is all Egberto Gismonti - Frevo around 5.34 mark. Dilla used it about 3 times. I could've kicked myself as the sample was in my collection all the time! 😄
This is my favourite kind of dilla beat right here. Shit that gives you goose bumps cause the melody takes you into bliss the best ever. Anyone know j dilla beats like this?
When I was a kid/I used to fuck vid everything. Now m a grown man n I don't like a single shit. Nuttin to loose/ nuttin to achieve. Die rich or die poor/ it's all same thing.
