Hippod91 Most producers using Dilla's toolkit would likely come up with some soulless vodka bar Muzak. Dilla was an artist though; you can hear the joy and melancholy in his music, and I don't know how he pulled it off.

DUDE… You're so spot on, when I had only liked Dilla for about 7 months I listen to this album and I believe the only tracks I liked were Kamaal and Trashy. Now its one of the most mind-blowing works from Dilla I've listened to. CIRCUS HAS ME BUGGIN OUT.

For sure will do. Hip hop at its finest . Producers are the real superstars but yet so underpaid and unappreciated.

Yeah, finding a great sample and executing it with drums, bass and melodic flourishes is a lot harder than it sounds. People think its copy and paste but they don't think about how hard it is to find a sample that hasn't been used to death or is over familiar. On top of that, if you're going to chop up the sample to create something very different from the original, there is some arrangement that must go into it. Also, all the tempo issues of that using samples can bring can be headache enough to make some people just quit. 10 minutes it probably took him an hour and a half total to do this whole thing if you added it up. An hour and a half to create 40 minutes of material no one else can produce given all the time in the world.

Hip hop has been the sole factor of peace with myself and has created a drive for me, being white there can't be another thing that can express who I am more truly, regardless of race. Cephlin Bro, while I understand that, I think its good that a race, historically, should have something that they can call their own; or, at least, can be proud that has substance and say in thanks and remembrance,' Hey, that came from people like me.' I am Christian and believe that all mankind came from Adam and Eve so, I cannot really claim specifically that rap is black alone; because that would be dumb and many people of different flavors and backgrounds have adopted rap in their lifestyle. Still, today, when you hear that someone dislikes Rap, they aren't speaking about good rhythm, tempo or flow but content and the degrading of women and etc. And what race do they, generally speaking, associate itself with any other race than black? Moreso black than anything else. But, it makes since; unless you've lived heavily diverse and never experienced ignorance of that kind but, this is the world and most likely you'll hear stuff like that. I mention Rock, Punk, or Metal, I usually don't hear of any associations of race except white You know what I mean by this? So, I am merely stating that, while you are indeed right and that one music genre isn't primarily one race; because we all stem from the same human family, doesn't mean that a black kid can't say that rap and its roots, especially the good rap, came from him and people like him. I don't mean to segregate and am glad you enjoy rap. I just think that its proper as a black man trying to identify in a world where his ancestors were taken to, its good to know that there's something he can still call his own and be proud of that. I've had a hard time, culture-wise, associating what was good with my race as an African American. We're generally and stereo typically not known to be smart or creative. In this, I am reminded that black people are and that this is merely one of many things fellow people of color have done when they exercise their creative capacity.
