His album is called "Jack in the box". He said he was pushing himself to show a darker different side of himself. This was a preview single. His album and single will be released on the 15th. I cannot wait.
I dont think he was pushing himself to be dark… haha he has different sides of himself , thats human, and that darker side has always been there. He just bring it out now.
You should def check out the behind the scenes of this MV .. it was released just today! Jhope is so quiet and polite and reserved compared to this video lol and V made a cameo. Im so proud of him, its very scary to step out on your own and retain who you were and are without totally leaving it behind. Hes really maturing as a musician.
He is actually bringing back the 80s/90s gangster punk grunge rock style back even though it’s risky and I haven’t heard this type of style in a while also this isn’t even his title song his title song and album is coming at July 15th. (Also his “screams” etc is pretty muted because it feels like he is trapped in a box)
Fun fact: this song was written by J-Hope and Ivan Jackson. Ivan Jackson is part of a duo called Brasstracks who also produced the track. Brasstracks are an American R&B-hip hop production duo based in Alphabet City, Manhattan, New York, composed of Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne. They won two Grammy Awards for their work on Chance the Rapper's single "No Problem"...." *Wikipedia* It is rumored that at least one of the duo is one of the band members in J-hope's "MORE".
Love your reaction, what a revelation to J-Hope's versatility, who would've thought rock is one of J-Hope's element. Nobody expect that, he is so good in this! GENIUS! Can't wait for the whole album to drop on July 15.
If you like this song and the video, just wait for the full album: "Jack in the Box" is coming on July 15th. Also: Did you listen "Run BTS"?, one of the most recent song of "Proof" of BTS, guys, you should listen that song, is fire🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 All the love for you guys💜💜
This is my analysis of this video. Jhope is talking about the things he has inside (the box) and hes thinking about letting it out (him pondering it at the end staring at the box). He caught a glimpse and I think hes gonna make the album the revealing of his inner self. Music is for healing, and this time this is healing for Jhope himself. As you go through the video he sees mor eand more of what hes really feeling, and at the end, you see the deepest part of a human, his bones. But inside that xray he says the most true blue things about how he feels. He wants to be greedy, he wants to be able to want more. He wants to be more than what the box has made him. Jack is coming out, and hes gonna come with a vengeance.
There's a couple of lines in Korean that I can make out and where he says "I'm in my element" he's rally saying "I'm a fish of water that meets the water". And where he sings "eeny meeny miny mo... it's a dancing baby's flow... Keep my passion, I gotta go". And then we show the music industry office with robots just doing their job without emotion and he says that. And when we see the instrumentalists they are burn victims .. possibly indicating these people got burned from the music industry by letting them have control over their artistry. J Hope is a water fish remember? And then he shows us watching his hospitalized body and he's only a shell of his skeleton. The Jack's hat is not a hat but what happens when you keep it in the box... it's a medical device. He needs to flow and surf to his beats so that he doesn't get burned either.... and at the end we see what he showed us was in his box and he's just a Jack In that Box. Does he let it out? Or do we go in? But he closes that box after he's shown us with this crazy mix. It's brilliant and brutally honest. He wants more.
He is the bravest to experiment and be adventurous with his sounds. He has always been good at blending genres. That is why he is that good in his craft. He keeps studying and respecting cultures or genre. His flow in this song cements his skill as a very versatile rapper and artist. j-hope is the most dynamic and diverse with his music. Add the fact he has excellent vocals that he could manipulate to fit any songs. Flexibility and distinct flavour. All him! His artistry is mind blowing! This is just the first song of the album and not even the title track! Please watch out for his album Jack In The Box which will be out July 15th.
He said this album (Jack in the Box) is him, raw I believe was the word he used. I can only imagine how he will be at the concert. Energy, visceral, emotion....
Jack is out of the box. Punk Rap!!!!!!! I LOVE it. Like Folk Implosion and the Beastie Boys (I grew up in the 80's lol) I hope they all go dark. I want MORE!!!! 😘💜🖤🤘🏻
I love how he always links his lyrics to his feelings and other stories, movies, legends and movies. You can really see that he has a lot of knowledge and it is impressive how he uses that in his lyrics :) Plus, his versatility is amazing 👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Album is called Jack in the Box it's a Concept Album and Hobi did a lot of stuff in the creative Visual Process too, the Album Art is made by the Artist Kaws, Hobi worked on the Music Video Concept too, the X-Ray is Motion Caption like in Video Games.
Idk of this was just Jhope experimenting with this song or if he knew exactly what he was doing but it's just so damn good ❤️ I've been replaying it so much!
love your reaction, thank you very much. What I've noticed for now, any reactor who has broad musical horizon (love music apart from kpop and pop music), and all rock/hip hop music fans, all give very positive feedback on this song. I also think j-hope did great job and this blend of genres suits him so much. Apart from obvious technical skills as as a rapper and very good lyricist, he always has had this high level of energy in him, especially as a performer (Outro: Tear for example), so he really seems very natural in hard hitting songs like this with grungy/alt rock guitars, these are simple chords but very powerful.
Loooooove love it!!! I love the rock and hip hop mix I always have..J-hope killed it love the hard edge to him in this song and video..like he said, "Im in my element" dont be shocked its inside of him already hes showing us another side of him I love his look, his sound, the edge, his nails painted, vocals, lyrics just everything love all the elements..a Masterpeice!! Im definitely rockin this loud and on repeat. I 💜 you J-hope
If you love the mix of rock and hiphop, another song that fits in the category is their song dionysus. It is highly recommended and has relation to greek mythology. One of the main composers is j-hope too so I guess we can expect more of this in the future
I love this new HOBI whom I'm gonna call J-DOPE lol, this is right up my alley cuz I'm a Rager at heart....he's gonna slay the stage at Lollapalooza 💜💜
I was probably the happiest to get something Rocky from Bangtan. JHOPE did it & I loveeeee it. I love BTS & also I love Rock so yah totally my type this song. 😍❤️ 🔥
I'm loving the beat of this song and I love the drums and guitars and this side of our sunshine is wrecking me badly. This is a different side of hobi I thought I'd never see also I love the MV aswell and I love how his voice sounds as well as how rocky this sounds and I'm also loving this néw look on him aswell and I love how he raps. Basically words can't explain how I'm feeling right now about this song besides being bias wrecked. Hobi has set the bar so damn high for me now, Bangtan chapter 2 is already killing me now. He isnt Hobi anymore he is Hoseok
You know it is also interesting and impressive how he linked his album to the box of pandora and how his artistic name relates to all this :) They say that when the girl closed the box of pandora only one demon remained and that was hope, the most powerful of them all. So, they say that’s where the saying that hope is the last thing that is lost comes from. Now a question for you guys, do you guys think hope is good or bad?
It's both. Just like love without more context it can make you blind. It kept some prisoners at Auschwitz alive long enough, it also kept me way too long in a shitty marriage.
Jhope was super hard and grungy in the beginning of BTS with various spiky masks and metal ornaments on him.....I agree, this is JHope and I LOVE dark JHope!!!!!!!!!!!! MORE! 🖤💣
This song is so different from Hope world and I'm loving it already. You guys should check out the song 'RUN BTS', it's too good. Thanks for the reaction!!
He is letting everyone inside his head. He is showing and telling everyone that for 11 years I have been the jester, I've been having to make everything perfect over and over again for the fans. But he is now trying to open up and show who he actually is after so long. And that he wants to keep creating his music because it's what makes him himself. It's a very deep meaning, and it's a respectable meaning because everyone at some point in their life goes through this too.
Just finished binge-watching a couple of your videos and you guys are honestly one of my fave reactors, seriously why gotta make me laugh at 1am i almost woke up the entire house Here to recommend you something BLACKPINK since i'm a major BLINK and you seem to love their music and content, to learn more about them as a group you should definitely react to _"an (un)helpful guide to black pink (2019 version)"_ a classic and _"A Beginner's Guide to Blackpink! (who is who?)"_ for recent stuff either way you'll learn plenty!
4:55 literally everyone's reaction. 😂 Really, Avenged Sevenfold? Maybe Linkin Park? And Slip Knot visually. Hadn't thought of RATM until now, tho. Thanks for this reaction guys! Sooo proud for Hoseok & really looking forward to his Lollapalooza stage.
I've really been enjoying your reactions to BTS as a whole as well as to individual members music. You all are really genuine and open minded. I have a couple suggestions to add to what I know is already a long list of BTS songs. I recommend BTS' Serendipity sung as a solo by Jimin and then BTS' Euphoria sung as a solo by Jungkook and my last suggestion is BTS' Filter which is another solo Jimin song. All three of these songs, the lyrics are very important especially connecting it to the music video itself. Thank you all for taking the time to do all these reactions and put the time into the editing as well.
HOSEOK IS THE MOST VERSATILE ARTIST ATM😩… btw guys please don’t forget to react to the new tracks from Proof. I really wanna see y’all’s reaction to Run BTS and Born Singer. Also their most recent solo/collab tracks Left & Right (Jungkook) and That That (Suga)
I think you should try to listen to Jessi if you like rap (and want to include more female kpop stars) - she's a QUEEN. From Jersey, US and amazing - you won't regret it! Listen to "Nunu Nana", "Cold blooded", "What type of X", "Who Dat B" and her latest "Zoom" (which is trending on Tiktok, I think).
