JK Paper Limited started as Straw Products Limited. Today it is the largest independent paper company in the country, with a wide range of products and operating out of multiple locations.
While some of its peer group companies, like BILT have virtually collapsed, JK Paper has continued to thrive. It is the leading player in office paper, copier paper, Printing, and writing paper as well as packaging paper.
It operates out of three integrated paper plants. It has continued to grow its capacity and it claims a very high standard of sustainability practices. Most of its raw materials come from social farm forestry.
It is run by the Singhania family, who have a multi-generation association with the company, which started as Straw Products Limited in Bhopal in 1938.
J K Paper is seeing a record profit in the current year. Notwithstanding the impact of COVID, the company has had an extremely profitable run in the last 5 years. While its debt levels may be somewhat higher than its peers, it has strong and healthy financials. It is likely to remain as India's leading paper manufacturer
