Good morning Gary ,what lovely stropping noises ! Jnat on a Puma, I really should try ? Brilliant idea to test two different stones edges .10k to coticle ? I've been even trying bevel set on coticle , shows the versatility of a good coti ( but I was lucky ) Jnats are not really my thing as I am confused by the enormous variety ! .... I'd guess those razors are from the same period steels , both sounded hollow ground. You've very noisy stubble 😂 ! ( I wonder how they compared on after feel ? ) Great video test 👍.
Strange thing is the John Clarke edge was honed right up to 10k plus j Nat and i refresh on coticules slurry to water and the puma was edge set 5k and plain j Nat slurry to finish and it literally shaved just as well but tiny bit more mellow. So same results with much less work
@garyhaywood6013 isn't it strange ,Puma's love coticules ( mine seem to anyway ) I'm all for less work ! ...I really must use that jnat I've got , but I'm lazy ......doing sword work now.
Hello! I have some questions that I would like to ask you. I want to have my minimalist sharpening set for straight razors, I have a coticule and a small one for making slurry, I tried on several occasions to sharpen a razor from scratch with it and did not achieve results, I am sure it is because of my inexperience, however, I don't want to complicate things. So I thought about buying a 1k and 5k (shapton pro), once I used the 5k I would go straight to the coticule without slurry (just water), do you think this is viable? or it depends on how good or bad my coticule is. Maybe it is a silly question, however I have heard people say that not all coticules are finishers, and others who claim that the majority are good finishers. In your experience, how do you see it?
