I love pieces by Bach or anyone in this style with chant melody in the pedal.

Not much pedal-work to this piece until the end, however quite an exercise for the hands. It is a challenge for any organist to perform this piece and maintain the clarity of the contrapuntal structure, as I think Andrea Marcon does so marvelously well in this piece. The use of the reed instrument in the manuals helps make each contrapuntal line stand out and adds to the clarity of the texture, giving the impression that multiple manuals are being utilized. Furthermore, the use of the 16' stop in the manuals gives the impression that the pedals are being used when they really are not, which helps prepare for the surprise when the pedals come in full force with the 32' bombarde. Besides, how many people can play that rich 4-part fugue with just two hands? This is a marvelous piece, and an excellent performance.

The feel here is very interesting, lots of swaying of moods but not done necessarily dramatically.

This performance is so good though. Marcon must be very proud of this one.

I find it hillarious that this was thought to be Krebs. this is Art of Fugue stuff. If some are wounded by thinking that late Bach was Krebs, sobeit.
