Well that is why there is a difference in indians and Pakistanis now try to understand the situation of raja ram mohan Roy he saw there was nothing in gurukul system compared to western education system which was thriving with discoveries and inventions in that period whereas we were doing nothing there was no critical thinking He understood what should be replaced with what Atleast look through lens of his time how he saw With all due respect sai deepak didn't saw what was happening in gurukulam it was raja ram mohan Roy so he understood it wasn't worth it

Actually yes. I do see that from the lens of RM Mohan Roy and the times he lived in, and the developments that had taken place in the world, especially the age of scientific development inaugarated in the West, and which came to us through the English language, and India's own stagnation at the time having spent the good part of many previous centuries resisting the Islamic invaders ( 2 world wars were sufficient to exhaust Great Britain). But here's the thing. Embracing English education was still a compromise and not without the concomitant mental subjugation and alienation from one's own roots (what we call deracination today). However while I did not argue the point then, at some point in the future I will revisit this question. That future is now. And here pls. credit Hindu society too for embracing English education. They are not by intrinsic nature a society to shut themselves from outside influences. Just as Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a product of his times, J Sai Deepak is a product of his times too. And his argument is one that I completely endorse. I hope you will cut the same slack to JSD that you did to RRMR. When the side-effects of the English education is being revisited, it is not a turning of the clock back.

@@viswanathanseshadri1047 We don't need such a long ass response, you just need to cite examples of Umar khalid, sharjeel imam and et al. Haven't these folks received modern education? don't they speak English? but are they deracinated? There you go, you have your answer there.

All time bak bak bak.. if we compare us to our neighbouring countries and ask ourselves why we have progressed so much , its because of the efforts of RRR and other reformists. Otherwise it would have taken another 50 yrears to overcome the orthodoxies of the society. This guy literally can bark all day without providing any concrete and rational point to substantiate his answer.
