I turboed my j35z2 on my 8th gen accord and surprisingly it's doing well for 3-5psi of boost. The molded exhaust manifold hasn't really affected the spooling and actually helped with keeping the exhaust tubing compact leading to my turbo
Hey, J35Z2 fellow here! Glad to see someone giving loves to J35Z2! Mine is from Honda Inspire CP3 in Japan and marked as J35A but it's literally the J35Z2. How are you going with it? Trans holding up good? Anyway I can get in touch with you?
Can I swap a 2005 tl 3.2 v6 and put it inside my 2004 ex sedan Honda Accord ?? Automatic on both transmissions… can I use the transmission from the Acura and put it on the accord or no!?… and how about the harnesses?
@@MarkIV_Garage good, have been dailying it and I haven't been able to go full throttle because of stock tune. Factory only allows 3psi for all RPMS. Therefore I haven't been beating down on it
@@angelmods5064 yes, Honda has been using the same engine bay size for all models and chassis. So if it has a V6 version then it definitely has the room capacity. Most of all Jseries are about the same cubic measurements. Therefore you can easily swap the J family. As for the harness, I don't think those are interchangeable. Trans bell housing for J30, J32, J35, J37 tend to differ by generations.
I just got a 3.5 v6 2012 accord coupe. It's really hard to find mods for this platform vs b series, k series. There are only three exhaust system that I have found for my accord coupe. The new 2022 civic has more at this point. I'm not hating on civics because I have one. But, thanks for showing love to the j series.
I got a quick question. I have a G35 A4 that comes in the pilot. It's totaled but the engine still good. Picked up a Odyssey just wondering if there's anything I need to do differently with swapping the engine from the pilot to The Odyssey
Does the integrated manifold head engines suffer from heat soak more? Since the manifold is combined with the water jacket? Pretty sure when racing temps can be above average. But I can be wrong..I heard some fk8 type r guys have over heating issues because of the integrated exhaust manifolds the k20c1 has, and that’s one of the cause of high temps.. not sure if it’s the same for the newer j series
You Adapter plate for installing the Holley High ram Intake on a J Series is a really good product, I saw Kyle from Boostedboiz use it as well as Brent
Any thoughts with stock J35Z2 + turbo? G30-770 0.83A/R, and I only want 5psi. VCM is completely disabled from an ecu reflash. I can manipulate torque values so my auto transmission can shift harder. So transmission shouldn't be a problem I think, I have yet to try. But I don't know about the engine. Stock engine alone wants to knock like crazy. I have 2.5" PCDs and 2.5" J-Pipe and 3" cat back exhaust with 3" straight resonators and 3" straight muffler. I raised knock sensitivity to stop ecu from retarding my timing. I turned off fuel dumping function in high load. I tried 12.5:1 and 12.0:1 AFR in N/A and it still wants to knock with minimally added timing. I did it to see how it would do stock. It made me a bit scared to go turbo. But I still want to. Do you think 5psi is fine with optimized timing? Is there anything to concern for this engine? Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Thank you
i can see keeping a honda engine with a honda car for an engine swap but i gotta say honda v6 engines suck butt hole roid water. in the v6 world Mitsubishi is king. 6g75 3.8 is indestructible
Is the head on our right in the video the same whether 3.5 or 3.7? If so, are the differences as far as top end just the intake? On the 3.7L, how is the extra .2L obtained? Piston size? Thanks! I have a 09' EXLV6 (J35Z2) and would be super interested into talking with someone about some mods. You have a killer channel by the way, and seem like a really cool dude!
The extra .2l comes from stroke and piston size. Piston goes to 90mm from the typical 89 and stroke goes to 96mm compared to the 93mm in the J35. This makes the 3.7l, along with it's torque focused head to feel snappy off the line. I've supercharged a second gen j35 and third gen j37 and the j35 made peak power at redline with a centrifugal SC. My j37 made peak power at 5.8krpm so the power comes in strong. But can't rev it out as far cause of piston speed and what not.
@@PiterStreak Thanks for the information. I will have a J35Z2 to build pretty soon and I do not know all the details with the J series, but that will be changing pretty soon. What is a comfortable redline for the engines you've modified the ways in which you've done them? What kind of power are you getting out of supercharging them?
Sean, is there any chance to enlarge the camshaft hole so you can run higher lift cams? I find with so many efficient parts and techniques, the camshaft is such a key in unleashing everything. It probably wouldn’t be cheap align boring and enlarging the journals on the camshaft and increasing lift/duration. Then you couldn’t go back to stock cams but for race applications and hardcore enthusiasts, it will be a must have.
That's part of the process for going big cams. Also have issue of the vtec lobe hitting spark plug tube so when your doing a really aggressive cam like that you end up having to use the 2 outer lobes and ditch the vtec lobe entirely.
@@PowerRevRacing Thank you for replying. I didn’t get a chance to tear down a j head in front of me to check clearances. Thank you for the insight. I’m guessing the quest will continue.
can you guys do a breakdown on the differences of the j32 j35 and j37 blocks and heads? im thinking about putting the j32a3 heads on my j35z6 block. my ultimate goal is for a higher redline
With enough machine work, stronger valve train, rods, pistons etc are J series viable at all for N/A builds or do you really have to go FI to get any meaningful power out of them vs full stock?
I know it's an older video but, Could you please give more info on combustion chamber sizes between the heads if any(?) Are there big valve options? Who sells good/better/best cams? Vtech heads? Looking for options to use a J35a in my '02 IS300/auto trans, 3:55 rear diff. Also, what are the better choices between the JDM ones? Thanks
We talk about valve sizes in one of our other videos but I will be doing more videos. Just don't want to make long boring videos. So just covering 1 topic at a time
@@PowerRevRacing nothing but good thing you do..and J needs love .. Btw did you dyno the intake and please do a s2000 cover with the j series install and how do you mount the TB not to interfere with the hood
Serious question, I noticed the j35y4+ have higher compression rate but stroke is the same as j35z so... Is it the piston or the combustion chamber that makes de difference? I have no idea where to look for this info, I want to build a high conpression NA engine so... If its the combustion chamber I need those heads!
I have a j35y2, im FBO and stage 2 ktuned. Im lookin to actually build my engine now and ik i need to get better flowing heads and better crank but idk what will fit or what else to do im kinda stuck please give me some tips
New J series owner🙋.I recently bought a Ridgeline with a J35Z5 . I read that j37 intake and a set of j32 heads is Is a decent mod for for the motor. What other modifications would I need to install there parts or are they simple bolt ons
You guys have tons of great J info!! I am planning a J32 swap into a custom application, turbocharged. For packaging, the oval port makes things easier and simpler. My concern is that longer primaries generally have better detonation resistance, what's your thoughts on this? Hp goal i'm looking for 600whp, efr8374 turbocharger. If there's a better way to discuss, where should I send my inquires? Thanks!
I was recently able to pick up a very very low mileage J35Y6 short block. I had been originally planning to K-swap my 1992 Civic, but with this block in hand it makes me want to try to use it instead. I do want to build a little bit of power into it, and will likely look at a mild turbo build for a daily driven street car- no drag strips for me! I will likely never see redline, as I typically keep my cars in the lower 2/3 of the available RPM. The better torque of a J35 definitely sounds appealing. What head would you recommend I use? Also, do I need to look into having the block sleeved or anything in order to ensure it has a long and happy life?
@@PowerRevRacing any particular reason ? Cuz im from europe and where im from they. Are kinda hard to find also the k series engines are kinda hard to find the A versions alot of Z’s I am able to pick up a J30A1 for 300 euro with ac pump alternator and wiring harnass
Great channel! Love the info. I’m curious what kind of performance mods do you have for the j35a4? If you could give me some ideas I would really appreciate it. I have an 04 Pilot that had exhaust and intake. It’s been dropped. I have obx headers but don’t have them installed yet.
We have tons of parts for the j35a4. You should check out our website PowerRevRacing.com Cnc ported lower intake manifold, fuel rails , big bore throttle body adapter, cnc heads, cams, and the list goes on ;)
Im building a 2001 acura tl j32a1 rn. Its slow but steady. Found a afc for it and am about to upgrade fuel pump and get it tuned. Good little daily so far. Love your channel and the info you provide to the comunity. The j32s are such little beast
@@angeloyescas7995 what do you mean by ulev? To me ulev means Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle. Its not a THING but a title given to cars. And from what i can find online the j32a1 doesn't count as one.
Can I swap a 2005 tl 3.2 v6 and put it inside my 2004 ex sedan Honda Accord ?? Automatic on both transmissions… can I use the transmission from the Acura and put it on the accord or no!?… and how about the harnesses?
Is there a fix for the j30a1 head's exhaust Port that's curved to go around a head bolt. 2 out of 3 exhaust ports are a straight shot to the combustion chamber, but then one of them looks like it's designed for heating up a head bolt...
Yooo that j35a4 sitting on the engine stand I just want to drop that in my 04 pilot lol I been wondering for a while is there any power I can put into the motor to give my pilot a lil more juice. I have a 2.5 lift with bigger tires. Definitely need the lil extra power. What do you recommend. I've even tried looking for like a piggyback ecu chip to help give a lil more.
Nice video , very informative, which J series comes with vtec on the intake and exhaust though ? I know j37s have it but anyway J35s or J32s ? Just picked up a 05 TL for my wife
I HAVE A 2012 TSX WITH 2.4 AUTOMATIC. I ALSO HAVE A COMPLETE 2013 HONDA ACCORD J35 AUTOMATIC. CAN I SWAP THE J35 AND TRANS INTO THE TSX. CAN I SWAP THE ENTIRE CRADLE?
Hey Sean. I'm looking to turbo my 01 Acura tl. Before I turbo I want to do all the normal maintenance things and I was wondering while I have the heads off can j32a2 or j32a3 heads be swapped onto a j32a1 block without any major modification? I can do minor mods but I can't take an engine out where I live. I tried finding info on it online but it looks as tho nobody uses the J32a1 block when boosting or building in general. If I could swap a whole type s engine in I would but I'm stuck with doing small things for now. Any info about what compatable with the J32a1 block is appreciated! :)
If I have a J35z3 with 10.0 compression could I slap a J35z6 Cylinder head on and bump my compression up or are the pistons different instead of the chambers 🤔
I have a 98 Honda Accord. I’m not sure what tune I should use. I have a quad exhaust and ngk spark plugs but not the wires. Everything else is stocked. But the car puts out so much power. It’s insane. I don’t think the power in the car in channeling properly. The car goes to 90 very quick. But it’s not distributing power properly.
Would anyone happen to know what the p8e-8 heads came from ?? Cannot seem to find anything on these heads . Currently are on my j35a4 , has 01 j35a1 intake manifold
Yes the RLX is direct injected so the intake manifold is quite different. We actually offer cnc ported heads, and lower intake manifold for the rlx type s.
@@PowerRevRacing I have a TLX V6, and want that extra 20hp the RLX offers. I assume its through the intake manifold. would your ported manifold work on my TLX?
I havent done enough research of the tlx vs the rlx to see what is the differences however I know the lower manifold is the exact same part number. www.powerrevracing.com/P2R-TLX-CNC-Ported-Lower-Intake-Manifold-Runners-p/pr003.htm
