Superb tutorial, I built a fifty fathoms homage caught the bezel on a door and it popped off😢 thanks to your great tutorial I had it back on in under 2 mins. Now subscribed!!
Here’s a great way I discovered to take bezel inserts off without removing the bezel, get a small bowl put the watch in full with lighter fluid what zippo’s take and fill it so the bezel is submerged after about 10 minutes the adhesive releases and the insert falls out. I have tested o rings in lighter fluid fluid and didn’t notice any damage. I left them in for 2 weeks. And you don’t even get to orings. Just cover the bezel and your good.
Good to know! I have a SteelDiver on order from AliExpress and I cretainly don't want to screw up the bezel (I already bent one on a Seiko diver and it cost me $60 to have it replaced by Seiko).
I love the style of Seiko click spring but the sound is usually muted and and sometimes it will skip a click if one of the tab is not the same height. The chinese style is more firm and precise click but it is harder to work with.
Great vid, Out of interest, have you taken off a San Martin bezel yet. Would like to know the quality difference of their bezels over the cheaper brands.
Depends on the models. The sub homage and the 62mas homage both use thin bezels and are likely to bend if not properly removed. San martin's cost is usually due to their bracelets
This helped me put the proxima mm bezel back in. I ended up geting the gilt insert from proxima. Question. Do you know how to remove the bezel from the steeldive sumo homage? I bought one but it rotates in both directions and the watch maker here declined to remove it. He could not do it. I missed the sumo so much that I actually ordered the seiko and will flip the steeldive, but want to fix the bezel before I do. Thanks.
I came here for the same reason. Is very difficult to remove. In the end I ended up using two part resin epoxy (araldite) to stick a drill bit to the insert. Left over night, and then pulled the insert up and out, leaving the bezel itself in place. Messy, and took a couple of attempts, but yeah, this video is very little help in terms of removal. Should be retitled 'replacing'
I have a homage watch and changed the bezel insert, now i cant seem to get it to lock back into place on the case... Any advice? It has this exact system
@@stevepodraza6363 yes you need to open the case back and remove movement and press the crystal out. You shouldn't have to remove bezel, but remove just in case
This didn't work for the Tandorio SKX I have, I wanted to change the chapter ring and had to take off the bezel and remove the crystal. I tried this method but the retaining spring would not catch no matter how hard I pressed. The retaining spring would get pushed up and the bezel would be as far as it could be pushed down contacting the case. I ended up having to remove the belez insert and puting the retaining spring in from the top.
@@aTomato-ev5yj Yes, there was a plastic gasket for the crystal on the Tandorio SKX. The crown has a rubber gasket where the stem screws in, it seals against the threaded tube on the case.
I've ordered the black dial Rolex submariner cronos With the green bezel. I asked them to put a black bezel in with it so I can swap them about myself. They haven't shipped yet. Do you think I should cancel and get black with black?
Bezel inserts are easy to change even without removing the bezel. If you're not confident I defo wouldn't mess about with removing bezel Heat gun the bezel insert briefly and carefully and then pry it off with a thin blade, should come off easily and the sticky will remain on the bezel so you can just apply the new one
What if the watch doesn't have a retention wire? The Pagani Design watch I ordered has only one a tiny peg-like piece that sat on a spring in a hole of the case underneath the bezel. I can't seem to snap a new bezel back onto the case.
Hi, i know this is a old post. I manage to totelly destroy my bezel on a Steeldive 1953 V2, i i cant find a replacement anywhere! all the bezels i find online is for skx, where can i find a bezel that fits on my watch?
Can a crystal be pushed out from below by a press without having to remove the bezel. ie does the bezel have anything to do with keeping the crystal embedded.
