I got to hang out with Jack Antonoff and his old band Steel Train waaaaay back in 2002 when I worked for their label. Their drummer, Matthias, was from Germany and rolled the largest spliffs I’ve ever seen.

OK, Seth, listen, Jack Antonoff is coming on tonight, and has requested just one thing: under NO circumstance are you to mention, or in any way draw attention to, what is in the disposable cup that he carries around with him everywhere like Linus and his blanket. Capisce?

(give me strength) So anyway Karl says, “The Democrat Wiener Dogs are on me today, but you’re buying the Bud lites. Hey…you know how those war correspondent people are creepy voyeurs of suffering who like international travel?” and I say, I think so, and he says, “Well I’m going to be a new kind of war correspondent where I travel to war zones to cover how women and children are coping and we go with five Medecins Sans Frontieres doctors, ten UNESCO workers and ten childcare psychologists specialising in war zone trauma, and I’m starting my own tv station called ‘WTWS’ which stands for ‘We Think War Sucks’. Do you want a job as caterer and studio cleaner?” And I say, Karl…are you keeping closely to the 12 step program and avoiding alcohol and people who drink vodka for breakfast? and he says, “My mentor says I’m doing ok for someone who is watching Gaza and Ukraine news 24 hours a day, so mind your own business pal!” (good grief)
