Taylor Hall had an 80 point season last year on the worst team in the NHL so I don't know how he was a wasted first pick ? The Nuge is only 22...and Yakupov is going to be a bust I agree. But to say McDavid's career is going to be ruined is something a guy who never watched hockey would say.
+lolmurphlol If they don't waste him, they'll just blame all their problems on McDavid like they do to Hall and Eberle right now. Those two get so much shit even though they're the only two that actually have an impact on games. RNH was too rushed when he had that shoulder injury, and they just fucked Yakupov over from the start. They need a complete front office overhaul, that team is poisoned. And it sucks to say because you can see that those 4 are really trying, they just have a management group that doesn't seem to give a fuck.
Amazing talent. Strong, so fast, great possession and reach, a bit too busy with the puck, can easily be fixed, going to be a total star. And so happy my team the Sabres got him!!
This video shows Eichel has the vision, speed, hands, shot, and offensive awareness to be worthy of a #1 pick. HOWEVER McDavid is just a bit better offensively - enough so that my Sabres will have to take him #1 in the upcoming draft xD

People are over reacting to his poor numbers in this tourney imo. I think McDavid may have separated himself after this but Jack really wasn't as bad as people make it seem. You can see what makes him so good and I think he just had a couple of bad bounces he could have done much better. I would have liked to see him pass more and finish plays but clearly he's an incredible player.
He dominated on almost every shift, he was quick, strong, his passes were superb, but lack on finishing on the Eichel-line was the storyline. He did a lot, his linemates didn't.
Fully agree. This guy is a heck of a hockey player and I don't think he should be a flash in the pan to McDavid at all. Incredible shot release, skating stride and power, hockey IQ/thought process, and vision. McDavid will go 1st. but man, Eichel is one damn good conselation prize.
scoldingwhisper It's not going to happen. Edmonton would be crazy to pass on McDavid despite the fact that the Oilers ruin talent. Eichel already has the size to his advantage to compete in the NHL. Whereas McDavid needs to build on more muscle, and will be drafted by a western team. I really want to see how McDavid can compete against the big, tough West.
Umm +Blur Icy we had one of the best teams in the late 90's and early 2000's, in the 1999 finals we should have won but the refs were being dumbass and when Brett Hull scored a goal while his skate was in the crease (which is no goal) said it was a goal. With Eichel the sabres will win the cup someday...
At this juncture, I think it's obvious that McDavid has distanced himself from everyone else. But that isn't a knock on Eichel. Dude is going to be a star.
in my opinion i think Eichel brings more to the table than McDavid does even tho McDavid might see the game a bit better. Eichel has that size and domination physique to go with his high skill set. And i think that will make him the better player in the NHL.
He is the closest I have seen to Lindros in a long time. 2 inches shorter, but he can grow. The combination of physicality and skill is reminiscent of #88.
Phileezy88 i do believe that in 2 or 3 years Edmonton can get a grip on their game. They just need experienced leaders who can make a path for the 1st rounders
If I'm comparing him to someone, I could see him being like a more dangerous version of Malkin. Eichel has the size and speed and imo has the potential to be even better.
HYP3DSNIP3R Yep. He's phenomenal. He will be a power player once he builds more muscle. I really think people underrate him because he doesn't score as much points as McDavid. Eichel reminds me a mix of Toews (leadership and quality all-around player), Thornton (unique playmaker) , Backes (gritty), and even a bit of Stamkos (shot and speed). He'll be a dominant player in the league who I think can produce 80-90 points a season. McDavid is amazing as well, but I really think that people underrate him. Buffalo is very lucky :D.
By looking at both connor Mcdavids and Jack Eichel's videos I think Eichel is a for sure a great player to build around your team with. Nothing against Connor Mcdavid but by watching videos and different style i would prefer Eichel caliber more than Mcdavids for plenty of reason.

I think the one thing that killed him at the WJC was that he tried to do too much himself. It's like he purposefully did it just because he was going vs McDavid, not the team he was actually playing against
+Joseph F I hate to say it, but you're absolutely right. Canada's team was much better than the US's. Eichel, Butcher, Hanifin, Demko, and our third line were the only players that stood out. Everyone else was... meh..

I actually think MdDavids speed might end up causing him a lot of injuries in his career. He is a little reckless, as we saw when he broke his collar bone.

McDavid skates cirlces around this guy. Not even comparable. Only people claiming they would take him over McD are the bitter loser fans that didnt win the first overall. Everyone knows if you had the first overall pick you are taking McD and you dont even need to see Eichel videos to know that. Take it Oil haters
+Aaron Cam This is my opinion that McDavid is a really great player but I don't think the Oilers was the best place for him because everyone up there is going to compare him to the great one there more than anywhere that is why I believe mostly thats why most of there first overall picks haven't paned out yet I believe that Eichel will be great because there is a lot of young talent in Buffalo to fall back on if he doesn't work
Just because you choose Eichel over McDavid doesn't mean you're a bitter loser. They are 2 different players. Eichel is more of a physical player than McDavid and people would choose Eichel because he's more of an all around player than McDavid.
