I found this channel from a sign at rest stop on 81 at the Virginia Welcome Center in Bristol advertising the Crocked Road. A friend and I want to plan a trip to see sights along that route. So I'm watching videos. I would recommend the channel owner add a link to info about the play. It would help to know where and when as we plan our trip. Thanks for a great video and a great suggestion.
Beautiful piece. Captures a bit of the marvel of our area. My dad's family was from Norton, and I've been through Big Stone a lot. Some of our Scotts are buried at Powell Valley Cemetery. I like the description that the overlook "borders on a religious experience." My favorite form of prayer. Thanks for sharing this.
I live about 35 minutes from Big Stone Gap in St. Paul. Lotta people that move here from a further away state don't realize that just about everywhere you step here, there's important history. You can go up the Sugar Hill trail in St. Paul and find the remains of the French cottage that Daniel Boone used to visit on his trips to Washington D.C. If memory serves, the cottage was destroyed and the the French family was killed by Native Americans. I think it was a property agreement that was broken. I need to do some research on that.
Jack, I don't know if you remember Helen McClanahan Witt. She was my mother. My Grandfather was Dewey McClanahan. Great to see you on you tube..Wonderful area.
