there's a bit of a misunderstanding going on with the reviews of this type of car. alltrack/allroad/cross county, these are made for European dirt roads and cold climate countryside, where a bit of mud or good few inches of snow and icy roads are the main issue - thus the all wheel drive, a little extra clearance and body protection is all you ever need. nobody will be sleeping in the boot either.... also, this has all the passenger space of a touareg or the likes while costing half the price

If I had an Alltrack or an Outback, I would never say I have an 'suv', as they are jacked up wagons. Which is fine by me.

I have an alltrak and you really need to consider ball weight before even attempting anything like a boat or caravan, the 2200kg towing ability is let down by the less than impressive tow ball weight.

Hope wagons do make a comeback, I have a Subaru Outback wagon and a Ford Escape cuv. Really enjoy both for diff. reasons.

Passat is discounting and given it’s a VW, good luck to anyone buys this new, the resale would give anyone a heart attack.

If it were at 21 cm instead of 16.5 clearance I'd buy one today. My ordinary Passat wagon is a great car, but this doesn't get you anywhere off road at all.

Meh, no one is taking this off road so just go a skoda superb 206 4x4 and get there quicker....

Offroad, no, but I take mine on unimproved roads and it does really well.

Seriously? Why not buy actual offroad cabaple suv cars? Nobody would think taking thier passat to sanddunes, river crossing etc.

Em - the point is that the majority of people who buy SUV's never take them off road - so the passat will do everything those cars are used for-except better. If you do want to go properly off road then obviously you would buy an SUV

The laws of physics don’t allow for 2.2T towing when there’s only a 90kg tow bar load limit = useless tow vehicle! Škoda is just as bad… it must be a VAG thing!

I have one and tow a 5.5m hard top boat. Great towing wagon. Often show up Navaras, HiLux drivers slipping and sliding at low tide trying to pull out. Alltrack computer kicks in and just does it. Smooth on road and never felt it struggle and never felt any sway.

@@alexandermajor6467 It's all about taste. Some like beer and some hates it. Some like wine, some hates it. Nothing odd about it. I just like the Golf Alltrack more than the Passat. Nothing odd about it. But it seems like they have ended the production of the Golf Alltrack, or maybe I'm wrong on that, not sure.

@@bosse641 No - there's an Alltrack in the newest Golf which has only recently been launched. Still not as good as the Passat though ;-)
