@AlienSexGod
@AlienSexGod 4 года назад
The player makes great music but his tone is bland.... a great player can make a bland sound sound interesting this is the fact. Yes its OK through a good amp and pedals but it sounds very mediocre at best. Jack is a great player that is the difference. He WOULD sound better with a Strat with Virgil Arlo pickups or hell just put those pickups into his Squire!

I also got a sunburst Squier Bullet, couldn't believe how good it felt, and resonant, for that little money? You should trust your instincts, if it feels good and sounds good, it's Good :)

I purchased an Indonesian Squire because at the time I felt they were the best bang for the buck and built it with everything I love from the parts I liked best from every over priced guitar known to man and had a friend of mine finish off the fine details that were above my abilities and once finished everyone who plays it is stunned with the fit finish and most of all the frigging thing is the best sounding "Strat" I would ever want. I built it because a friend of mine told me the price of his next purchase and we made a gentleman's bet for a dollar that he would be upset when we put em through the paces side by side. Long story long. He not only paid me my dollar he wanted to purchase it from me. I had to say sorry this one's a keeper.I'll never sell it... ;)
@captmcneil
@captmcneil 3 года назад
I mean to be fair, Squiers are really well built for the price. I have owned far worse, more expensive mexican Strats. Cheap tuning mechanics are only annoying, but won't hurt your sound and you don't need really expensive special wood in these things. My first guitar was a 120€ Squier from eBay, after couple of years I put in new pickups and it sounds great. What I want to say: there are cheap gutars that just sound like shit, no matter who plays them. But Squier is a pretty bad example for rubbish guitars ;-)

Lovely guy and a formidable musician. As far as his love of Squiers is concerned, we are so fortunate these days to have such high quality instruments available to us. 14:30 Jack's slide playing is just divine. FAR better than 99% of what I have heard, and this is just an impromptu jam - on a cheap guitar! You can tell Jack's a down-to-earth all-around nice guy.

I’m sure he plays expensive guitars probably just sayin that. Because he’s humble. (Some people like that sort of thing) im sure he plays more than a fender squire piece crap. Jack Pearson signature guitar probably cost lot more. I’m sure it’s not 100.000 dollars. Like $30:000 for a strat is cheap in america. Lol.
@jacksfan08
@jacksfan08 Год назад
@@dannyhood4007 A personal friend here. It's just as advertised. The Squiers really are from Guitar Center and the most he has paid for any of them has been less than $175, tax included. There is no Jack Pearson signature guitar. While the fact that he has owned a particular guitar may add to it's value, he doesn't have any guitar that would be appraised for more than 5K. And if he doesn't play it, he doesn't own it. The only endorsement deal he ever had was with G&L, but that has expired.

Contrary to popular belief many less known famous musicians are on a low budget and it’s better to play gigs with cheap guitars in case if it gets stolen. Also cheap guitars these days are shockingly good and potentially better than USA guitars especially after modding them. I own both USA and import guitars. I actually prefer my modded import guitars to be honest

The thing with the old players is that they all know how to handle the tone and volume knobs to get their tone so well. For me, learning that has and still is an incredibly rewarding experience and never keeps surprising me what you can get out of a guitar that way. For instance, I made my Casino sound almost like a Rickenbacker by playing around with the pots. An essential skill, imho.

The wah effect he was getting using his fingers and nails, too, wow. When he switched over to the SG, it did't sound as good as the strat! Makes you really take a step back. I been playing 16~ years now and you keep wanting to go bigger and badder into the expensive Gibson world. And then you watch this and feel like a scrub. Jack is an unreal guitar talent. Proper guitar player's guitar player! Went from playing blues to flawless Wes Montgomery to slide as good as Duane and Derek. Came here after hearing a quip on a Rick Beato video where someone mentioned a guy who played a stock squier through an old tubescreamer and a 'no name' amp. I thought that surely can't be right. Boy am I wrong. Reconsidering my default thinking that a custom shop gibson will by default sound sweeter than an Indonesian Squier! Great video.

Marty and Jack. Fantastic. Love the insight into a guitarists life. Especially the way you make supposedly inferior models of guitars sound superb. No ego, just craftsmanship. To Jack your influences are numerous and inspiring. It reminds me of my lifelong hero Rory Gallagher who lived for his craft, was essentially self taught, but sucked up all influences to make himself a better guitar player and purveyor of the music that interested and influenced him. Loved Jacks take on slide playing, you play beautifully, but importantly you seem to enjoy everything about it. Marty keep up these tours they are brilliant. This was the best one so far. Jack Pearson is maybe the nicest person ever. He also isn't all caught up in the $4k guitars and amps like most guitarist I know.

Jack Pearson is a great versatile player, and a humble, fun, mellow, guy. Inspiring! And he makes Squiers sound good. My old luthier did some work for Hendrix and Johnny Winter at Electric Ladyland. He said Jimi and Johnny could each make any old piece of junk sound great, so can Jack ;)

Outside of Duane and Dickey, Jack Pearson is probably the best guy to ever play in the ABB. Better than Derek and Warren, except Warren has the great voice, too. Jack is a master guitarist and humble person. I'm not saying those guys aren't great players. They are. But Jack Pearson has a whole other level of expertise, plus just as much soul. Killer guitar player.

Derek is still young. He will eventually surpass all of them

Derek Trucks is the most creative slide player on Earth. The Spirit of Duane Allman sits on Derek’s shoulder without question. He seems to have taken Duane’s approach and touch to other worldly places. I’d suggest T&T Band’s live version of Darling Come Home Soon for a total immersion in his genius. The solo starts at just after 5:00 and it is a journey, not just a solo. Having said all that, I don’t think he’s as well rounded and versatile as Jack Pearson, though he certainly could be. Jack is a natural who just breathes every type of guitar air there is and can play all of it. Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions ...! They’re all great and I have listened to and seen all of them per- form. I love Jack because he’s so under the radar and so much better than just about any guitar player you can name. He didn’t choose being a guitar player. It chose him, as “it” did Warren, Derek, Duane and Dickey and any other virtuoso. Music oozes from their veins.

look up Jack singing - he might be as good a singer as guitar player, and he's on a different level on the guitar. his hands are special. Anyone can play the notes. few can make the guitar cry.

And here I thought The Mythbusters and Guy Fieri had the coolest jobs in the world! You're livin' the dream, Marty. Loving these interviews with some under-appreciated but utterly fantastic guitarists. Loved the LeeRoy Parnell, and this one is equally awesome. Jack just seems to be such a down to earth guy. Pulling those sounds from Squires and Epis really reinforces that tone IS in the fingers. Keep these vids coming!

Marty, you and I are about the same age. I used to see the allman brothers all the time and I remember that feeling after hearing that warren left and going to see my first show without warren and seeing jack for the first time, no internet, no way to look him up, and just thinking oh my god, I can't believe they could even find a guy like this! I didn't know they existed. Amazing player and super humble, nice guy.

This is so great! What a great guy and I like the fact he's using the Squiers and sounds so good. It's the technique, not the gear!
