Saw Great White with Alice Cooper in 1990. To this day still one of the best shows I've seen. Saw them again in 2017 and he still rocked! R.i.P. Jack, you are one of the best.
I'm a few weeks away from my 58th birthday. Jack Russell and his band Great White have been an important part of my musical journey in life. His music will live on forever...yes its that good!! RIP JACK
I've seen Great White dozens and dozens of times and Jack's passing is a gut punch to me. I have loved his music and his voice over the decades. Such a sweet guy to hang around with. Always wanting to be with the fans. RIP, Jack. Your legacy will live on forever.
Met Jack at a pizza joint behind the club Great White played and he was very cool laid back down to earth played the Attic 2 years in a row the second time with Bobby Blotzer on the drums. Good Times 🦈🤘R.I.P. Jack Russell🕊
❤❤❤ WHILE RIDING THIS AFTERNOON, GREAT WHITE'S ":ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY," CAME ON THE RADIO. MY EYES WELLED UP WITH TEARS IMMEDIATELY. TO HEAR THAT AND NOW THIS SAD INTERVIEW MAKES YOU REALIZE HOW PRECIOUS LIFE IS. I MAKE THE MOST OF EACH DAY THIS PAST DECADE.
Fly lonely angel....May your demons be silenced now. I met Jack in 92 in Denver. I was front row, amd he grabbed my hand a few times, or maybe i grabbed his and.didn't want to let go 😊 after the show we were in parking lot and saw the guys from GW amd Jack asked if we wanted autographs....he was so sweet. I pray you rest in peace. Rock Me....sing it loud Jack so we can hear you ❤❤❤ You are one of the greatest and will be horribly missed. 😢😢😢
Thank you for this interview. I will never forget him grabbing my hand and singing to me or spraying me with water at a concert....it was harmless fun. The night I got engaged was the night of the fire. It took me from being ecstatic to tremendous grief, especially because I had met Ty Longley four months before when Jack did his solo tour for For You. Will miss you terribly Jack 💔
Saw Great White in Savannah and Pittsburgh. Hung out with Jack across the street from the venue at a restaurant piano bar. He was super nice, polite and we laughed a lot with everyone. I had a great time. Fun memories. It was when they were touring with Bad Lands and Tesla.
I met Jack at an indoor water park in the middle of winter in Colorado Springs in 2018. Super nice guy and had no problem sitting and visiting with me for 30-40 minutes. He was walking with a cane and had mentioned he was recovering from a motorcycle accident. He also reflected on that horrible night club fire and said it haunted him. He considered his fans as part of his family and that situation affected him deeply. Ironically my first rock concert was Great White opening for Whitesnake in Denver 1987 when I was 13. I am glad I had the chance to meet and visit with him. RIP Jack. Thanks for a cool memory and great picture.
The golden voice is gone! The smoothest, sexiest voice in Rock n Roll. I'll play your songs and enjoy your voice forever! God got a voice of a angel . Jack will lead the choir ! Rip Captain Jack😢
He will be GREATLY missed! The best memories of my life were his concerts, his music has been the soundtrack of my life. I am now 60 myself, we lost this beautiful soul way too soon ❤❤❤
I dont think people realize the voice that Jack Russell had, how fucking incredible it really was. People say Hair Metal, then just cast off anyone in a Hair Metal band, not realizing the POWERFUL MUSIC that has come from that AMAZING ERA. I have seen over 150 concerts in my 50 years on this planet, and i could tell you this, only three other people i have seen could ever match Captain JACKS vocals. R.I.P Mista Bone. . . Fly to the ANGELS
Good interview. Glad he acknowledged several songs off Psycho City should’ve been hits. That album should’ve been huge . Great White should have been as popular as Def Leppard.
I saw Great White a couple times. The last time was probably 2001, a couple years before the Station Fire. After that fire, I swore off Great White (Jack) for good! As years passed, it was obvious his life was never the same and he had a deep sorrow that was evident to all. In 2021, he did a show talking about the Station Fire and I watched. It was obvious he was a broken man. My attitude towards him changed since he wasn’t Vince Neil who killed someone and went on with his happy life, like it never happened. Jacks life was very sad. I hope he finally has the peace that escaped him for the past 20+ years.
You saw them when I think it was just jack and Michael lardie or jack & audie, cuz Mark wasn't in the band the late Ty Longley was playing lead guitar at the time, I think the victims loved ones don't realize how much guilt and sorrow he carried with him, I think he passed not only from lewy body dementia and multiple person atrophy he was dealing with but to be honest I think he died of a broken heart.
As a man in mid 50s I grew up with this band and love their music many state lines crossed with the help of jack and the boys. Many of us that are still here are survivors of the era but are fading fast. RIP JACK
59 years old and lived thru the 80s what a wonderful time to be alive Great white is my all time favorite band Jack had a voice and a passion in his voice that got down to your soul i never felt like that before or since sure i loved Metallica, Ozzy, and a lot of others but Great white was on a different plain to me Jack is the imo best vocalist i have ever had the pleasure of listening to RIP my brother always missed but never forgotten
Such a sad day, Jack was the iconic hard rock singer that could sing a ballad to bring you to tears. Blast out a Zeppelin song that would make Robert Plant proud. My favorite memory of Jack was shortly after the original members all got back together. My band mate and our wives were standing at the bar at the venue when Jack walked out from behind the bar and stood right next to us. I introduced myself he shook my hand and started talking I asked if I could buy him a drink and anyone who knew him well knows it's a Rum and coke. We had a long conversation and he talked about the incident out east where fans and a band member parished. He talked about the benefits and donations for victims families I could tell he was truly heart broken over it. What a class act we will all miss you Mr Jack Russell!!!
I met him and the band back in the late 80's. They were so awesome to their fans. To see him like this hurts. I choose to remember him as was before. And I don't think he ever got over what happened with the fire at the night club. I pray he made his peace with God. He will be missed.
What a treasure. Thanks for sharing. Jack Russell is one of my all time favorite vocalists from the 1980s. He had a hell of a voice, diverse vocal range. RIP Mista Bone
My beloved Great White. My icons my friends. Goodbye Jack. You're gone only in body never in voice and always will live through that amazing voice. Loved you all on our many, many shows in UK and Europe and I always will. Condolances to all xxx
In the end the memory of our our past memories will eventually kill us...why?...because we know that we can never go back and relive those old great times when our friends and family were still alive and thriving and now most everybody are dead and gone...so Jack rest in Peace brother...your music has meant everything to me since the 80s
I got to meet him. He was such a nice guy. We had a conversation about how he had fell, trying to hang his curtain. Super nice guy. Will be missed in this world. My condolences to his family and friends.
My favourite band and singer of all time. I really wanted to see him play one more time. I’m in mourning. His voice and the bands music are eternal. RIP Jack.
Oh my gosh, Jack Russell, the greatest voice ever. I can never get enough of his voice or House of Broken Love & Rock Me. I pray for his family & friends for strength to get through this devastating time. Jack we love you & miss you & will never stop listening to your beautiful, captivating voice. RIP DEAR MISTER JACK PATRICK RUSSELL.❤❤❤
So sad. Jack Russell and Great White are a great band. I grew up singing their songs. I have most of their albums. He will be missed and will live on forever through his awesome songs. RIP Jack. Condolences sent to his family and friends 🙏🙏🙏
Got to see GW open for Whitesnake in 88, and as a co headliner with TESLA and Jacks vocals were STELLAR! Jacks performance on the Zeppelin tribute record is second to none! RIP Jack! His music lives on!
Damn it's hard to hear Jack retire from tours and 4 weeks later he's gone. Such a great voice. Hope he's at peace, the club fire issue shouldn't be put on him. Thanks Jack for all the amazing music.
I was blessed to see Great White and Jack Russell’s Great White, many times, always fantastic concerts. I met Jack several times and I also had industry friends, so I met hundreds of bands. I can say with 100% confidence, that no one loved their fans more than Jack Russell, and that is exactly why we loved him. I cried for days when we lost him, but I am so incredibly grateful for the unbelievable music he left us with. He will live on through his songs, there was no other vocalist like him, and I am grateful to be able to see him in the many videos of his exemplary performances. Fly with the angels dear Jack, I pray you are finally at peace. Much love and gratitude ❤

I'm glad I was able to Jack's Great White in concert back in February 2024 Las Vegas, NV. He has been one of my favorite front man singers. We will miss him 🤘🤘
Jesus no... yes God yes jamming rocking partying turning up singing to great white back in 80s all the rockers and badass people I knew back then who loved the band and killer songs they turned us onto..unbelievable Jack's gone too ..wow..😢will miss you and prayers and love to his family friends musicians and fans who knew loved listened to and played with this man. RIP man
🎸The last time -Jack Rusells Great White- was in Canada about 10 yrs ago, (btw,i had trouble after his death with sharing this but i think its important)... They were playn the fairgrounds in my hometown of Cambridge, ontario. I actually/literally dreamnt of meeting him,the night before, shaking his hand, gettin his autograph, and inviting him for a beer at the local bar i d.j.'d at the time. So the day of the concert,my gf and i were walkn to the show, and she laughed at my dream, and the special silver marker i brought for Jack and the boys to use to sign my autograph. Well... "Im here to tell you Boys and Girls"- Sometimes... DREAMs DO COME TRUE!! Cause guess what- I DID get to MEET and get an autograph and pic with "Jack" and the band, And yes i DID get to ask him to come for a beer at my bar, while i shook his hand,(he said he had to catch a bus or else he would)!! What a F#@kn Night that i will never forget!! "Thank you Jack for the awesome music and memories, love you forever brother"!! 🎸🕯🫶💔💯🪦🎤🇨🇦
Great White have always been one of my favorite bands and it had a lot to do with Jack. He was one of my all-time favorite rock singers. I loved the band and Mark's guitar playing too, but it was never the same without Jack. I got to meet him and Mark after a show in 2006 or 2007. I couldn't believe I was just chatting with some of my biggest musical influences/heroes. I really feel for Jack. He took the Station fire and the death of his fans really hard. He never really recovered. It didn't matter that others were found liable. He felt responsible and carried tremendous guilt about it. I'm thankful he found Heather and to see she stood by him. That's hard to find these days. I pray Jack found peace and forgiveness in Christ. I don't know if he ever got born again, but I hope so. May God bless and be merciful to him. Numbers 6:24-26.
It’s just so dam sad. I loved Jack and I loved Geeat White when he was in the band after he left I lost interest but still listened to the band when he was with them. Jack IS GREAT WHITE!!!!!!!!!❤ he will be greatly missed. Be with the angels Jack❤
Good God. To think that's the last time, we've seen him, heard his voice. Jack and Great White were a cut above everything else in the 80s hard rock scene. I'm glad the band got some of that MTV limelight when it did in 1989. I wish Jack had taken better care of himself. Not judging, just selfishly wishing he were still around. I raise a glass to him, to the good times, to the great music.
I am63 i saw great white 3times last time was at a casino show room iwas near the stage it was amazing ,the 80's where magical man i miss those days😢Rip Jack 😢what a voice and performer sad fucking day..🥺
Top notch singer and a very cool dude and I never meet him. I seen CC him once at a free concert in cda. Dani about 4 years ago. That guy could sing like he did back in the day, what.a messed up loss for the rock world. Rip wish u we’re still here
Jack 1of my favorite Singers inda 80s,Great White favorite band,Best Rock Blues band ever,Jack n Mark made an Awesome writing team,I listen 2dem all da time♥️RIP Mista Bones🙏🏼
I'm heart broken over the loss. I wish they could have found a way to work thing out so he made it to the finishline with GW proper. This interview isn't from that long ago, and it's unbelievable to think of how someone could decline so much in that short a time. I think I've seen them 5x in the day. I'm going to miss that voice. We lost another icon.
I'm so glad I got to see Jack and Robbie last fall. Never missed the chance to see them when they were near. Hope you are doing ok Robbie! God Bless and God Speed Jack!
I have seen Great White about 6 times from the late 80s to 2009, and Jack Russell's GW in 2017. One of my favorite memories of Jack Russell was at the 2009 show - when the Rising album came out. They opened with Situation from the new album, which came off so great, even Jack Russell had this smile and look on his face of how pleased he was that it sounded perfect. And off they went to do a great show start to finish and then come out for half an hour to sign autographs and greet fans.
I'm 56 and the summer of 1987 was the best in high school. I was playing in my first band, the music was great, girls wore mini skirts, a case of Budweiser was $10 out the door, you had to have a hookup to buy weed and cruising in my 72' Chevelle with a full cooler was unforgettable....well a few forgettable nights! One Friday night before band practice my drummer and I stopped by my parents while he waited in the car. I came back and he said "Dude! You just missed a great new tune by Great White." We had practice and after the band cruised with the radio on and Rock Me came on. Other than the drummer we all heard it for the first time and partied all night long!
Great White's 1983's Out of the Night e.p. and the eponymous 1984 album were amazing, loved their version of Substitute by The Who and always wished the band had stayed that course rather than going the bluesy route, in any case, R.I.P. Jack Russell much gone too soon 🙏
I remember a story that Jack told me I think where Alan gave him this zebra jeep. It was the funniest looking ride. I also spent some epic times on Jacks boat. We had a Jaws like moment while shark fishing where we were sitting in the galley and he was showing us his scars and the stories that went with them. And of course, I caught the shark. Asked if we can just cut the line and Jack said “you do and your swimming home”. When we ran out of drugs and beer, I got to Captain us back to port. Man, I’m surprised we lasted this long. Peace brother.
I went fishing on jack's boat 1 time around 1986. my cousin worked for jack, and jack took us out to PV with a tank full of live squid that we scored at the bait receiver. the fish were not biting at all, good thing we brought beer along. Jack let me drive the boat for awhile. I lived 2 blocks so. of the harbor (topaz jetty). This was before they got really popular, And then he started doing lots of drugs. RIP cap'n Jack.
Before he was a "ROCK STAR" he was a PC drug addict that robbed drug houses, and in one event of robbing a drug house he shot and killed the house made in cold blood. He got 8 months in Juvinile Hall for the incident and then ended up becoming a famous Rock singer! .. Sounds like a great guy to me! God Bless him 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great White was part of the soundtrack of my wild and free days. It all went to hell when grunge sucked the joy out of everything. Good days, good times, great music. RIP Jack. Thanks for memories.
Dibbos Hotel Auguat 4th, 2005. Great White was playing there doing a benifit concert for the Station fire fund. It was my buddies birthday. Huge Great White fan. The band was auctioning of Jacks Station t-shirt he wore during the show. I won the bid. My buddy was in the bathroom when i won the bid. Great Whites Manager came up to me to have me meet the band. I said it has to wait. I got the shirt for bu buddies day and he doesnt know. When he came out, i signaled the manager. I said to my buddy, come with me. Went down a halway, and Jack and Mark were ahead of us. My buddies eyes went wide open as i said, meet Jack and Mark! They both gave me giant hugs first thanking me for what i did. Then did the same for my buddy and told him he has a wonderful friend for doing this. We were invited back with them, but unfortunately had to turn it down. Had to be at work in 4 hours. But a great experience for both of us!
