@@daisymay6505 Ah no he or she is Christian...I hope I spelled that right as I am not very religious but I am blaming it on the dog...who is religious.
HAL 9000 but you’d better be ready for the jack Russell because they have tons of energy. You really have your hands full. Please don’t get one unless you’re ready for action!
I've been to the vet thinking I was putting my Jack to sleep on 6 occasions through accidents and injuries. Hes 17 now, still going strong, hard as nails, great companion and family dog!!!
My Jack lived to be a little over 20. After her 16th year we questioned it. Someday she would slow down. But she still had her spry moments. I've since got her paw print tattooed on me. 2017🌈
Reminds me of my Benji, there wasn't a chipmunk, squirrel, rabbit, or a raccoon that ever came into our backyard. It's as if they all knew, that's where the killer is. Fearless, loyal, and had a Napoleon complex, I loved that little guy and miss him so much. Gave us 17 years of pure joy.
Had a Jack vet said would only live to 2 years due to congenital heart defect. Fostered children for 15 years for 14 of those my little Jack chose the most vulnerable of my kids and slept at the foot of their bed as their ‘private guard dog’. For many of those kids it was the first time they ever felt totally safe. She passed away aged 14 and a half. I miss her with all my heart. Can’t get another one - will never be the same as my gorgeous ‘bindog’ (Bindi).
I've had my Jack Russell now for going on 12 years. I'm going on 83 & I've been on my own for the past 22 years - what a companion - always happy to see me, never argues with me, never asks me to fix things & best of all never asks for my credit card! In my opinion there just isn't another breed of dog to touch them.
You are fortunate. I lost my female jack Lucy aka "the biscuit" after 15 1/2 yrs of mayhem, amusement, companionship and love. She was indeed a loving, killing machine!
That's how I always described my JR, Kipper, "My buddy", he followed me everywhere. He loved walking me out to my shop, and laying out on the driveway in the sun in his old age. We had to put him down 1 year ago also. He was 14. I miss him every day when I head out to my shop.
I just had to put my 12 year old Jack to sleep last week. My husband loved that dog, and after he died, she nevEr left my side. She died a week before the one year anniversary of his death. I know they are together again, and that gives me peace.I plan on getting a JRT puppy soon. They are the very best dogs.
We used to breed Jacks. To speak of their strengths and drive I tell this true story. We had a friends male blue blood Jack over breeding our female. One day my wife comes home to check on them and on the back porch is Jack Jack covered in blood. It was everywhere. My wife calls me as shes driving him to the vet thinking he had been hit by a car some how. At the vet we find out he had been bit in the face 9 times by a rattle snake!! After anti venom he was fine. I for a 9 foot rattle snake on the back porch with its head almost completely biten off!!! I had small kids at the time. We adopted Jack Jack and he lived a long spoiled life with us.
My Jack Russel name was “Hunter”.... he earned it!!! Still miss him so much. I don’t know if watching these videos makes me feel better or worse! It just hurts like hell!
I know how you feel! I miss mine as well. No one can match their loyalty and willfulness. They embodied all the characteristics I respect. I stop tear up of I see white hair on my sweaters. You are not alone feeling this way!
We had a short legged Jack for 15yrs, had to sadly put him down 2 months ago. Greatest , most loyal companion, fun loving family dog. No breed close to being as intelligent. Miss him dearly.
I had my Buddy pure bred from 2008 to early 2022. I sorely miss him. Like you said, companion and that doesn't come close. I pray he will be in heaven. He earned it and miss him so.
Same with our Jack Eddie!.Smart, funny, loyal and protective, wasn't scared of any dog no matter how big or aggressive they were!. 'You wanna go?, come on then!'. 🤣
Mine dig out a nest of moles. Didn’t get the adult but got the babies no problem. Detected them a foot underground and dig them out like the good dog he is.
My JRT use to hunt gophers like that but has since got lazy. Now he digs the hole about 6 inches deep and comes and gets me to show the hole. I put a trap in and when it springs. he pulls the trap out by the rope and come and gets me again. Team work i guess.
Take him for a walk every morning for an hour and a half, allow him to do his stuff during that time, come home and he's no probs for the rest of the day. Did I say he LOVES the car ? Get the keys and he's at the car door before you are.
Justine Krider mine was scared at first. For 2 weeks she laid on a little pillow I put down for her and then she came around but it took over a year for her to trust me. Poor baby was abused by an idiot. Now she’s comfortable and smart as anything! Great watch dog too
@@precisionbrown6829 Awe poor baby! I am glad she is doing better. My boy was pretty young when we he got him. His mom didn't want anything to do with them. So, now he has some playing issues. He is afraid to play with other dogs. He turned three today and did awesome at PetSmart.
My jack Russell past 2 years ago of bone cancer we had to amputate his back leg to stop but it came back and he couldn’t fight it off anymore seeing this video reminded me off all the good times we had miss you bud
These dogs are a coiled spring ! Pure energy ! Probably good they are as small as they are.. mean and big as a lab would be horrifying! They are great animals to have .
Jack Russell's I have one best freind I've ever had he never leave my side and is so protective like a miniature body guide with no fear of any thing. Had many Breeds of dogs for 45 years but nothing can ever match a Jack Russell.
Yeah I feel you, we had to put our 15 year old Jack Russell down in June last year, and it was really the most hardest thing we had to go through ever, we still mis him even tho we have a new one
I have this fantasy about Jack Russell Police Dogs. Where the Canine cop has 6 Jack Russells all trained to attack a bad guy on command. (ps. I did say it was a fantasy)
I have a Westie. From the day we got him at 8 weeks old, his killer instinct was amazing to watch. It's in their DNA. I love terriers. High energy and great fun.
I love looking at comments in JR videos because it's just a bunch of people who love them or want them, I have got 2 and think of getting the third they're just too damn adorable
Mine always catch squirrels at the park , i wish i could catch it on video- but its so quick their isnt much to see except the aftermath. he's a shot legged killer.
I raised a pair of Jack Russells for over 15 years. My male JRT was especially a pure hunter and caught everything that ventured into my backyard including rabbits, squirrels, other rodents, lizards, snakes, a mudhen, and one time even a possum that was running across the top of my fence. My JRT followed him for about 30 feet and waited for him to cross a part of the fence that was sagging, then pushed the fence post with his front legs to knock the possum to the ground. I quickly separated my Jack from the possum by prying open his jaws and forcing him to drop his prey. The possum played dead of course and I had to grasp my JRT to my chest to carry him away from the possum all the while my Jack let loose with a piercing terrier scream! Best dogs I've ever had the pleasure to raise.
100 pounds of "I'm about to f*** you up!" in the cutest 10 pound bundle ever! Gotta love Jack Russells, mostly because they don't give you any other option. =)
My Jack Russell Ginger was a mole killing machine. My neighbors would ask me to bring her over when they had moles. Great dogs. I miss her. She was a wonderful loving and loyal dog.
When my daughter brought Jake in my home I said to her the dog must go immediately in next two days. It took me a few hours to love him. Now over a year and a half he is my good friend and companion.
Sounds exactly like what happened to me. I have never owned a dog but my daughters brought this puppy home over a year ago she was only a couple weeks old and I said no she’s not staying here. Now a year later I’m in love with little miss Cleo she’s full of energy, courage “ always stepping up to big dogs like a drill sargeant”, protective, smart and fun loving. When I found out that Jack Russells hunt mice and rats I was excited that’s another bonus in case any of them are caught trespassing in our home. Cleo will handle it for us. I’ve noticed her take food and bury it like that for later. She’s fearless, friendly, and full of energy. She’s my little baby now although I kinda hate getting attached for fear of one day having to let her go.
iv had staffys all my life, I now have a 4 month old jack Russell.Im wondering why he buried the rat, is that may b for food later, like they bury bones ????
I had 2 but lost one in a divorce and the other, my favorite got bone cancer and died at 13. I loved those dogs. One I’m holding in my profile picture.
I also had 2 and lost one in a divorce, since got a broken hair bitch to keep the older one on her toes, the only dog in the world, everything else is just not in there class.
Good boy, typical terrier, didn’t give up until he got what he was after. I have two Jacks, they can be as daft as a brush and loving and turn into a hunter killer with a flick of a switch. You can think you have tired them out, touch their leads and they are ready to go again
So true what you said about them being daft then turning onto a killer thay truely are the most forgiving unconditional loving fun careing and loyal dogs I have had the wonderful joy of raising for 13 years bf the littke famiky of there's i had had becine lost to me one to death the other 3 adopted out do to my family javing a house fire and losing our home however the 13 years i had the 1st one male Tug pure breed Akc the 11 with 2ed edition to the family a female pure breed named nibbles both as opisit as day and night in looks and personality but fell in love like husband and wife and then after 2 litters we sold decided that the 3ed would be the last and decided we wanted to keep aboy that looked most like dad, whom look almost exactky like the little rat hunter here well we en ed up with 2 boys that where the best addition to the whole family dog and human alike and thay sure where daft but did thay ever lurn qiuck how to protect I miss them with all my heart truly Christ like littke creatures
Reminds me of my Jack Russell named Jack Russell, always killing rats and mice. Terrific hunter, great companion. He has been gone 4 years. We had 16 years together. Best dog I ever had.
Jack Russell's are an awesome breed. Highly intelligent and so adventurous. My brother passed away two years ago and he bred pure Jack Russell's. He gave me a male puppy that I named Boogie cause he loved to dance. He had an unexpected stroke and I lost Boogie at the vets office. I miss him so much. I still have a Jack that belonged to my brother named Rippy and she is great.
That Jackie is a spitting image of my little Jackie bitch who weighs in at 5 kilo exactly. Even the markings are the same and almost in identical places (everything is the same except the one near the shoulder on yours, my digs is centered on her back) but besides that they are a perfect match. brilliant little dogs, I'm over 60 had dogs my entire life since a child and these are one of the best breeds i've owned
I got a jack Russell myself she killed well over 7 rats so far and they make perfect rat hunters sometimes she misses the rats when they jump out of no where
My Jack Dolly was a great hunter. I found a dead skunk behind my trash bins once. She used to dig for gophers. Had an A personality, and liked to fight my other dogs. Loved to walk long distances and had a great appetite for a ten pound dog. Miss her so much.
My oldest Jack buries his treat in his bed this Same way so his Mrs and son dont find it. Then after a few minutes gets paranoid and goes and eats it before they do 😂
My boy Alfie is a handful when out for walkies he wants to kill every other dog he sees but the minute you step back indoors he is the most affectionate adorable little dog you will ever meet...he loves the cat and often lays beside her jack Russell are the best!
A rat had been running up the roof for a couple of days disrupting our sleep. It refused to die even after the exterminator came. One day my JRT Ariel brings it in her mouth to me
That was pretty fascinating. He's still a pretty dog with two round spots I was mesmerised. What is a Jack Russell like when it gets old? Energy-wise what is it like
My Vinny, 17 yr old, passed away last year, and he did slow down at around 13-ish, but he was mellow for a JRT, I think. But he was always a jaunty dog (and yes, he dug holes in the lawn but we had voles and a mole). Loved him to bits.
I have a 22 year old Jack Russell, he is almost blind doesn't hear to well n spends most of his day lounging on his bed but put his leash on n he will want to go for hours!
Okay so i have a beautiful long haired jack russell who has never hunted. There is nothing i want more than to give her a live rat to kill. Is this acceptable for a domesticated long haired russell ( i know she would love it)
Of course your dog would love it I have a short haired Jack Russell and ever since I moved there's a field I let my Jack Russell Chase jack rabbits I live in Arizona my dog never hunted before I took them out to the field and he loves it you can just tell that that's what they're meant to do is hunt and my jack love to go gophers there's all kinds of Critters for him to Chase it's heaven
Hannah Dyson rats are vermin and seriously affect the environment around them. They breed like proverbial rats and need to be controlled. Dogs are the humane route Or would yo you prefer them to suffer a lingering death with poison?
