Same here. My kids and grandkids live in Texas and I live in Oklahoma. Both my sons work 6 days a week and I don’t drive anymore due to my disability. I would especially like to see the youngest one. I saw her right after she was born and again when she was one. She is 3 now. The older ones I got to see a lot before I moved back to Oklahoma from Texas due to my mom’s failing health. She is 84.

Sorry for your loss Barbara 🙏😢🙏 My husband and I always did the same thing. Just like you it's one of the things we did at Christmas. I lost him in 2018😢 I completely understand what you are going through. Some people don't get it. I've always thought I knew how someone felt about losing their true love (forever)......Now I know, you think you know, but you really don't until it happens to you!! Some say it's been a few years get over it........If I hear that again I don't know if I'll scream or pull my hair out (honestly probably both)!

Hopefully this will become a tradition as they are family and having these Christmas Eves together and no one is told no over a simple pre gift which truly does release tons of stress for the children especially as they begin to get old enough to become distracted and fully engage with what was allowed to be open. Lots of good sleep on Christmas Eve and satisfying feelings just as it should be.

Totally agree!! It truly takes away the overindulgence of not just too many presents for one but sensory overload! Especially with big family’s all opening all morning. That one present the night before was always a small token of what was to come but so very appreciated and loved. Makes it so much easier to go to sleep thinking Santa’s coming in the night! Makes the mind much more calm. I also suggest a small present to open on a night before a birthday party where a lot of family and friends will be present and observing. Too much at once makes things over the top basically and I got one remember the ones I received the nights before Christmas more than anything else I got! Even if it was just a new coloring book! It took the edge off.
