My daughter had a hard time saying goodbye to her dummy (binkie!) We hung it on the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve so Santa could take it to a new baby that needed it! ‘He’ left a little trinket hanging in the same place to say thank you, she was so excited❤️ much love from the U.K 🇬🇧🥰

The only regret I have had now that my kids are 10 and 14 is not taking more time with my hubby when they were younger.. enjoy your time to yourselves. It is good to miss each other and I think it makes us even more grateful.

Regardless of the test Derek still gets an A, he’s so involved and eager to learn and concerned for all things happening to Sara during pregnancy and labor. Awesome husband and dad! You are both amazing parents! 🥰

Taking care of the baby when mom needs you to and that's such a great help but it's great knowing you want to better understand what's going on the entire time. A week or two apart isn’t that long in the grand scheme of life;plus now we’re blessed with facetime so you can still see and talk to him as often as you want everyday. It’s not a bad thing to have adult time away from your kids every now and again.…in fact it’s healthy for you and for them.Of course you miss each other but as long as they’re safe & being cared for you can enjoy yourselves with your friends and the time will go fast,it always does and before long you’ll be reunited again and back to full time parenting and throwing him around lol What is it with kids loving to be thrown lol That giant beanbag is a great landing spot.Soon you’ll have a new little angel joining your family,so it’ll be awhile before you’ll be able to have a few days of adult time again. It is great you have trips you will get to enjoy. Personally I was a person that rarely left my kids. I don’t regret it, because I am a person that loves being at home especially with my kids. Before I was a parent, I loved spending most of my time with kids as a teacher. Most of my hobbies can be done at home, so I still had other things to enjoy and breaks to enjoy. If you are a person that loves being with adults, going away places, and hanging out with friends/family without kids, and doing very active outdoor hobbies, than this will be great. I think the feeling of renewal you will get being away will work well for you. It is so important to do whatever feels great for you. Your kiddo will be fine. He will have lots of fun with the Nanny and you will returned refreshed. You both spend tons of time with your little guy every day already anyways. Of course you will miss him, but you will have fun. You deserve the break. Have a wonderful time!

You asked for ideas on how to help missing Jack when you’re away. Find something of his that is small, and keep it in your pocket (when not surfing of course!) or next to the bed. When you’re missing him, just hold that object in your hand, tightly if you need, and just think about all the things Jack does that makes him smile - just him or the two of you together - and picture that awesome, sweet smile of his. That way you’re holding onto him, the way that special bond you two have will always be. Remind yourself that he’s okay and we’ll cared for and happy AND that you will be back with him VERY soon!! Derik, here are some helpful things to make the two weeks away from Jack easier. 1) Have Sarah send you photos and videos of Jack daily, that way you can see what a great time he is having and even get to vicariously experience some of l his daily adventures. 2) FaceTime is a godsend (if you have reception). You can do it when you wake up to say good morning and such, as well as in the evenings (or whenever works best with your trip schedule and with Jack’s schedule). 3) Pre-record some videos of you reading stories to Jack, so that anytime Jack is missing you, he can see and hear you and listen to you read a short story to him. 💗 It is never easy being away, but with modern technology, it makes the time away a lot less painful and easier to get through. He was so young but I didn’t want his teeth to be damaged. I saved one and his mom uses it as a Christmas ornament every year. Just an idea. My grandson will be 21 soon. That pacifier is her most treasured ornament!!!!!!
