So powerful. It helped me to find the light in 2011. I have a beautiful tattoo of a sailboat with the quote "I swim for brighter days despite the absence of sun" directly beneath it with the classic jacks mannequin asterisks to either side.

Good line, but my favorite is "you've got to swim, don't let yourself sink, just find the horizon, I promise you, it's not as far as you think." So often when we are depressed, we, for whatever reason, want to stay depressed and often resist other people's attempts to make us feel better. The key is to just focus on small victories, just making it through one day at a time and focusing on the positive and little by little, the world starts to not seem so dark anymore.

Andrew was truly my daughters favorite artist and she loved this song! She sadly couldn't hold on and took her life on June 26th, 2017. I miss her terribly and truly hope the message in this song saves someone who needs to know they are worth everything!! I'm a grieving mother yes, but I'm still a mom. If you need to talk..anyone..im here.

When I was deployed to Iraq in 2009 this song got me through some rough times. I listened to it so much. I had the opportunity to tell this to Andrew this past summer at Summerfest. My life was complete.

REMEMBER this guy didn't write this song for any of the ppl who didn't like it! To me this guy is channeling what he was going through while fighting cancer!!! Attitudes are contagious and his is definitely worth catching!! The people who do not like this song do not have an appreciation for positive, motivational way of thinking! I have to say that I admire this man!

I was diagnosed with ALL in 2007 and just recently finished chemo. I discovered "Swim," and that Andrew McMahon had written it while in the hospital being treated for ALL, about halfway through my treatment. To say I feel a direct connection to it would be a gross understatement. I listened to "Swim" constantly, every time I went to the hospital, every time the pain seemed intolerable, every time I wondered if I was actually strong enough to survive. It's amazing.

I am 15 and I got the lyrics "Just Keep Your Head Above Swim" tattooed on my forearm because when i was struggling with fighting cancer for the 5 times i have had it, my depression, and anxiety, this song helped me through it! When i am older i hope to get this entire song scripted on my back in honor of Andrew McMahon and his battle with cancer. Please like this so maybe he will read this and know that there are people out there that this song helped them through some of their hardest times!

My dad always listened to this for more hope, sadly when I was 11 the greatest man to walk the earth my father passed away on April 4th easter Sunday 2010 I miss him dearly R.I.P Brent Wayne Harris!!!!!

This song is very dear to me. I will explain. This song is very adaptable to many life problems. My husband is in the Submarine force in the USN. Strangely these lyrics are very close to what he and I went through on a deployment. "Currents will pull us away from our love" "Choking on salt water" " I swim for brighter days despite the absence of sun" very close to what they go through... This song got me through those deployments. Very good song.

For the first time i heard this song . This was my cousins fave song . They put all of these pictures of him when he was little and pictures of all of his friends and this song was playing while the slide was going. This song has so much meaning.

I want to dedicate this to all of those in my small community/surrounding area. We lost 3 teens over the past 5 (all different causes) days and this tragedy has stricken us tremendously. My friends stared singing this song at the funeral of an 18 year old boy a few years ago. We were all so moved everybody started holding hands and singing along with them. They had tears streaming down their faces the whole time but the lyrics were so touching. We all cried and held hands and just sang. I will never forget it. This song reminds me of the bravery he always showed before that boy died and reminds me to swim for brighter days. ❤️

I went through some of the hardest things I’ve gone through in my adult life, including the worst heartbreak I’d ever experienced. A very dear friend sent me this song and I played it on repeat all day long. For my birthday I got an anchor with 3 lillies (one for each of my kids and the anchor because they’re what kept me still during the emotional hurricane) and underneath it says “Swim” 🖤

My mother loved this song in her 3 year battle with stage 4 liver cancer. We where out of state just 4 months before she passed, flying planes, cessnas, and more. Singing this song and "Everythings gonna be alrigth". Little did I know that this cancer battle would fall apart soon later. Rest in Peace Mom, im sorry for that one time I was rude while you wanted to hear this song. I will never forget this song, it reminds me of you momma.

I have been listening to Jack’s Mannequin, Something Corporate and Andrews music for years. 6 years ago we went to one of Andrews shows, my now wife and I swabbed ourselves and signed up to be bone marrow donors. 4 years later my son needed a bone marrow transplant for a rare bone marrow failure. I was his match. He has been through a lot. But, he is learning to swim. This whole process is hard, a lot of what you go through is never properly explained to you. May everyone who goes through it have strength to keep swimming.

Did you guys hear about the boat that capsized off the coast of california? More specifically the Gulf of california. Long story short... they found a few survivors and one of the survivor said, "I had to swim the whole time to try to fight the current to get to what I called the 'Big Rock,'" He said he kept thinking about his life, family and friends as he swam. his words kinda reminded me of this song. Which is why I am here listening to its inspiring awesomeness.
