Jack Skellington is Alive in TNBC The Nightmare Before Christmas 

am I the only one pissed and confused as to WHY we didn't get that bonus scene and see jack and sallys kids?!

I have a question why is he a skeleton it makes no since since he's the literal king of pumpkins

Jack, himself, says (,or rather, sings) that he's dead. "And since I am dead, I can take off my head to recite Shakespearean quotation." In my head, animated skeletons have some kind of ghost like engergy possessing the remains, and that's how they move and hold themselves together. Zero doesn't have a physical form to control, so he can phrase through the tombstone, whereas Jack does have a physical form, so he needs a house with doors and space. Sally lived with the scientist who created her, so maybe she picked up some things from him and her and Jack reanimated their skeleton children. Or maybe they even adopted them. Or maybe they were conceived through the magic of Halloween.

The idea that sally would have female uh... parts makes me recoil in horror at why exactly her creator would want that.

I've always personally thought of Jack more as "Undead". Since he is a skeleton, claims to be dead and can even take off his head; but can also eat, sleep, feel pain and can physically touch and interact with anyone. But say Zero and any other ghosts are transparent and can literally go through anything since they no longer have their physical bodies. Yet Jack HAS a physical body; even if it's all skeletal. And as far as I know he can't go through walls. So yeah I see Jack as someone "in between" living and dead; which is why I think him being an Undead makes a lot more sense. PS. I do find it confusing thought that Zero can also sleep and can physically interact. I don't know if there's some strange in between thing going on for him too but I guess that's for a different topic.

Everything that The fan girl said makes sense.. but in the beginning of the movie when Jack is singing in the graveyard he says: "Since I am dead I can take off my head".. Unless that's just a trick that Tim Burton put in there so the audience wouldn't catch on to the fact that Jack could be alive. However at the end of the movie when Jack was shot out of the sky how come everyone was worried that he was dead.??. If he was dead in the first place he would of been just fine sense you can't die twice.. I don't know just thoughts..

Maybe Jack is not alive but a creation. A bone construct, like Sally was with leaves, Oogie Boogie was with bugs. But a higher form than the raindeer. Maybe the children were created the same way. I would wonder if the Doctor created Oogie and Jack like he did with Sally. one was a blueprint for the next, he kept Sally cause he thought she'd be easier to control, yet she proved to be stronger willed and resourceful than he'd give her credit for.

You made a theory that doesn't hold up, and yet nobody has made a theory on where Lock, Shock and Barrel came from!

Does anyone remember the line in Jack's Lament "and since I am dead I can take off my head," or are the songs included in the final film not cannon, while songs left out are cannon? This is an interesting idea though.

Personally, I think Jack isn't just alive, but he's a lot like the "monsters" from the game Undertale: he looks like a skeleton, but he's made up of magic / soul(s). Based on Papyrus and Sans, as well as Dr. Gaster, in that story, I think it's even plausible that Undertale's "they're monsters whose forms are determined by their magic" explanation and lore works to explain who, and what, Jack is as well. It would also explain how Jack and Sally would be able to have children - especially numerous children - because it's implied that the monsters in Undertale reproduce through magic, since they're mostly made of magic. From the Undertale Wiki: "It is even said that monster SOULs are made of love, hope, and compassion...Monsters are by far weaker than humans, both in physical combat and regarding the strength of their SOUL. This inadequacy is because monsters are mostly made of magic, which in turn makes them attuned to their SOUL...Monsters come in numerous shapes and sizes, although the notable species of monsters include skeletons like Sans and Papyrus, ghosts like Napstablook and their relatives, and Boss Monsters like Toriel and Asgore. Monsters SOULs are usually wholly white, with a couple of exceptions." "A monster's body is mostly made of magic and is attuned to its SOUL. We know that Jack has all three things - love, hope, and compassion - and the "turning to dust / losing your soul forever" part would explain why Halloweentown and Sally are so distraught over apparently losing Jack towards the end of the film.

I think you're just looking into it to much. Just a fun cute story I doubt Tim burton even thought this far plus it was deleted scene and not cannon.

Sally never ate the soup. She offers the doctor the bowl, he slaps the spoon from her hand she goes to pick it up but grabs another spoon from her sock, all part of her plan. The soup spoon has holes in it. Doctor Finklestein refuses to eat until she does. She fills the spoon, lets it drain then *PRETENDS* to sip the soup. She never at all. The two of them having kids, think....Santa said he was surrounded by skeleton children, not...skeleton *and* rag doll children. They cant have kids, Sally asks her "Father" To make some like he did with the reindeer. But, because he's not making just some random animal, he gives the children a mind they can use. He did it once before with his new...lady friend we saw toward movies end. Is Jack alive? Yeah. I mean, he's walking and talking and singing and smoochen Sally! Lol! He's alive. As much as a weird skeleton monster can be. He's alive because he needs to be. So he can go around each year and scare boys and girls and weak men. LOL! Nice theory, but bottom line, having children is not good proof on what makes him alive.

Or maybe they adopted. Monsters never seem to forgo adoption as most humans would/do. He could be Fae. I had just watched your Coraline Core video. The Fae are freaky, huh? But really these are just some random thoughts I had. Nothin' serious. And dam them for not puttin' in that scene!

Tim burton really makes the best movies honestly I loved these as a kid and I still do.

Sally is full of leaves. they could have adopted kids. otherwise why would all of the kids be skeletons? some of them would have to look at least a little bit like Sally. I love the idea though! :-)

Good points, however there are a couple of points when Jack detaches body parts, like his head, jawbone, and even a rib and reattaches them to himself. I don't know if he could do that if he were truly alive, with flesh and bones, or at least not easily. There are also different myths and stories of living skeletons. It is possible that the children were made the same way he was, however he was.

I always assumed that it was just it's own pocket dimension that had it's own creatures and that our understanding of certain creatures don't necessarily apply there.

i love theory videos that have facts or- in this case of jack and sally's kids- hidden or deleted scenes that help prove the theory even further, or even prove it true without any lingering doubts.

Here's something that may prove he's dead: In the special edition DVD, the bonus feature menu has a deleted scene (no idea why they didn't put it in, they should've) of Lock, Shock and Barrel. Whilst watching Oogie torment Sandy and Sally, they hear the Mayor telling everyone that "skeleton Jack is a pile of dust", to which they ecstatically begin chanting possibly my favourite lines in the history of Burton: "Pile of dust! Pile of dust! Skeleton Jack is a pile of dust!" Even if Jack was alive, being shot out of the sky and becoming a so-called pile of dust would kill him. He survived because he's already dead, and he wasn't hit, his sleigh was.

what makes you think that they don't create children differently than humans. like a ritual or something.

Cool haha! I like this theory because when I used to watch the movie, it always bothered me seeing him stretch his mouth to scare the children. I knew it's not possible for skeletons to stretch their face like that. Also he shows facial emotions. This theory makes this possible yay.

I love TNBC since I saw it for the first time, and I had like 6 years when I found out it was a Disney film, I was in the movie section of the supermarket around December, and in a high-positioned poster there where a lot of Disney characters with Santa Claus hats, and a little bit to the left, Jack was standing, it confused me a lot and then I found out for sure 😂

I personally just think Jack unable to die, he's like the heart of Halloween town. I feel like he's more of a spirit that has a physical form than a monster​ or dead human. Just my thoughts. Btw great video.

Just in The Corpse Bride movie or in Coco from Disney. And I'm think went through the clouds as dimensional portal to the living. It's made more sense to me.

As for the children of Jack and Sally...maybe the Evil Scientsis created the children for Jack and Sally like how he created Sally and the Skeleton Reindeer. I do really like this theory how ever. I do think that he was alive at some point. After all, when singin his obssession on christmas, he says "Like a memory since long lost" or "past" about christmas when he was alive.

Perhaps he's undead, neither alive nor dead, hence him being able to state that he is indeed dead while also expressing that he might die, he has died once yet being undead his consciousness remains however there is also the possibility of said consciousness ceasing thusly killing him a second time.

I have looked over the entire disc from back to front and never heard that last part about that they had children. But he clearly states that he is dead in jacks lament. Now what you said does make sense he could be a monster, but why would this movie apply to physics or anything? A flying sleigh? Witch brooms flying? Yes i can believe that these monsters could be real. And i'm very sorry for causing you any inconvenience it's just this movie is like.....my life.

While I agree with your theory (I always thought it was just a fact and never questioned it), I don't think the skeleton children add credence to it. They could easily be constructs, or simply "adopted" from the grave. Just my thoughts on it.

Couldn't that doctor person who made sally and the reindeer have made the kids for them? i mean he could have done the exact same thing he did to the reindeer but with children's bones.

your biggest thing with this is that if he is a skeleton then he can not reproduce. And with sally being a franlenstine ish monster she may have those organs even though we can clearly see that she is stuffed with leaves and you say that she must have organs if she ate soup but not once in the movie can she be seen eating anything. Then you brought up the fact that all other monsters apply to our physics. Oogie boogie is made op of bugs (individual bugs) and by your logic, would not have been able to eat that bug lock, shock and barrel through down to him. This example shows that not all the monsters of Halloween town apply to our physics therefore allowing jack and sally to have kids despite the lack of "parts needed"

I am so glad you brought this up. I have heard some crazy ass theories on Jack before, the worst of which I think is that he is actually a dead Victor, from Corpse Bride. Ridiculous. They may be both skinny and tall, but their personalities are totally different! Victor could be meek, timid, insipid, and afraid. Jack is confident, bold, and expresses anger. Victor never expressed anger even once! Everyone just assumes Jack is dead. I think this theory is the one that makes the most sense, actually. Good job, very astute ;) Oh, did you see that the Nostalgia Critic does a "Is this movie REALLY that good?" version of TNBC, and wanted to die. YES, Nostalgia Critic! This is a world where a vampire ripped out his eye just for an explanation, and it spring back into place. Sally is not a Frankenstein's monster, she's actually a living doll, as evidenced by the fact she's filled with leaves. Sally wouldn't be able to have children either, as she is a doll stuffed with leaves. The fact neither should be able to reproduce is most likely why that scene was left out.

I agree because when he gets shot from the sky, the people from Halloween Town think that he's dead. They wouldn't think that if he was already dead.

logic only works when it's convenient, Sally doesn't have bones but can still walk. And who's to say Jack wasn't made by the professor. Deer​ are quite for the most part and seeing that Zero barks then the deer shouldn't make noice unless necessary. And they don't fly in real life so maybe those are the modifications to professor made. just saying.

I think you're overthinking this... it's a kids movie, not everything needs to make sense... also look at other Disney movies, like lady and the tramp. when those characters have babies, the girls look like Mom and the boys look like dad... even though in real life the kids would be a mix of Mom and Dad, regardless of sex. clearly real life rules don't apply to the children movie logic.

Plez make a video, if you haven't already, connecting NBC to Frankenweeine!! Could explain how Jack is ALIVE, and the tech to make Sally come to life and all the weird monsters.

I've always hoped that Jack was/is one of Dr. Finklestein's creations from long ago. But, that hope died real quick. Firstly, the Dr. hold way too much respect for Jack, since Jack is the closest to his intellectual level. Also, due to the fact that the Dr has been trying for some time to create a companion. While Jack is considered a well respected peer by him, a companion he is not. We also know that he attempted that with Sally, but was considered a minor failure due to her rebelliousness.

I have another tid-bit of information that helps your theroy. In a certain scene, Sally is sewing his Sandy Claws outfit she accidentally pricks his finger with the needle. It always bothered me because if Jack is dead he wouldn't be able to feel pain. As we all know, you need a brain and nerves to ever feel pain, since he reacted to the prick he HAS to have a functioning brain.

I think the main proof he's a skeleton monster is that Oogy boogy says "Jack! I thought they said you where dead! YOU MUST BE DOUBLE DEAD" or something to that extent. If Jack himself was REALLY dead, a human's skeleton wouldn't he say triple dead? o>o I dunno something I thought of, and why would the towns folk freak out at Jack dying when he's already dead?

Jack isn't alive. He said it himself. He might have a bit of tight mummified tissue around his face that made him able to pull his mouth wider to scare the kids but it's not flesh in the conventional way. I'm surprised you didn't realise about Sally being a Frankinstein monster as the first time I watch this movie I was in elementary school and it's as plain as white bread. I wonder how you would respond to realising that Disney had actually planed to include eyes on a skeleton yo make him more personable. Still wouldn't have meant that he's imagined as being alive. He's dead and king of the dead. They worship him like Gomez worshiped and pined for Fester. Those who would no longer be accepted by the living have made for themselves a place they enjoy, maybe imagined for them by the collective efforts of the loved ones they left behind. Kind of like el dia de los muertes? The point is that Jack is an imposter in the Christmas village and his methods are macabre because he is not alive. He can scare us. Not make us happy. That's not his purpose.
