This song hits close to home cause my dad used to be obsessed with cigarettes and had breathing issues but he’s doing better and stopping smoking slowly now
Ok I think we can all agree that this song is a bop Edit: I changed my name like two years ago, y'all can stop commenting on it now. My fursona was a crow (yes, I'm a furry) so 16yr old me tried to create a unique username based upon that fact. I didn't know about the potential racist connotation behind it and changed it effectively once it was pointed out to me.
He loves Claire and sees her in his mind he just has crazy addiction. Claire is trying to keep him safe from his cigarettes by hiding it. She is afraid when he doesn't recognize her and thinks she is someone else But inside the Grandpa does love her
I think the same is true for the father, both of them love her deep down but due to their own personal issues (grandpas addiction and fathers presumed trauma and narcissism) they still emotionally abuse her I think that's part of what makes this feel so real, they arent comically evil this could be someone's life
I feel bad for this character he has no one to care for him he can't go outside because he's blind (and plus, he and the rest of the family live in the middle of nowhere) so all he does is sit in darkness slowly withering away while he listens to tv.
it’s not a metaphor she literally is Claire he wouldn’t mistake her if he sees her “wait your not Claire, GET OUT OF MY HOUSE” opal is just her imagined fairytale great life, plus he has blind glasses on, he sees people on the tv as what he just hear “I can’t see” and he thinks Claire is hiding it when it’s on the ground. Also he says they dance too I ASSUME if he could see he could KNOW that they dance
Tell me Why does it sound so easy to breathe on TV? I can't see Why it sounds so easy to breathe I'm popular here They all sing to me (la, la, la, la) Idea salesmen They want my soul, Claire They fight over me like dogs And the girls are singing (la, la, la, la) They dance too, I assume (yeah, we do) They want my soul as well I need that smoke, Claire What the hell is taking you? And won't you tell me (la, la, la, la) Why does it sound so easy to breathe on TV? Oh, won't you tell me (la, la, la, la) Why does it sound so easy to breathe on TV?
Him being blind is totally just a metaphor tho, he startes at that box so much that he may as well be blind since he lets the rest of life pass him by.
