David Larson or the guy who scored 70 actually had the better game to 34/44 while jack taylor shot 52/108 not to mention 27/71 from three no shade 52/108 is freaking amazing for that many shots I'm just saying
Spencer McLaughlin I don’t understand how you find the time to shoot the ball 108 times in one game you basically take the ball in bounds every single time never pass once and go straight down and shoot every single time. I would probably just walk off the court and go home if I was on his team not gonna lie.
everyone get over the defense played, this guy had the game of his life and only few players could ever hit that many 3's even with bad defense, geeeezzzz give him some ups for the good he did and stop hating!!
haters man. dude was shooting over 2, 3 defenders sometimes , in some plays he looked like curry lmaO that was really impressive. Haters always gonna hate.
27/71 from 3 lol so it’s really not that impressive outside of the endurance and stamina to put up that many shots. My point is pretty much any respectable shooter would hit that’s many threes given the same opportunity.
@@CptFoot. good point. from a coaching stand point the amount of possessions this takes, is actually more impressing. I ran some grinell light one season, with a team that was moving up through the division. it was a good way to engage everybody. did the 5 man subs every other possession. The other teams had no idea who to guard xD a lot of fun, but a bit "gimmicky". it wasnt necessarily appreciated by the vets in the division hahaha
@@breeezy9330 no you dont you dumb dick. Why make up some bullshit like that? You really want the randoms on RU-vid to think you are cool bc you claim to personally know the person in the video. Quit being that guy and become someone respectable
Regardless of them playing defense or not, he put up 140 points that's incredible. It's not like they were letting him make open shots, he actually has a nice crossover move as well.
+Hank Hill Sure, he didn't play badly. But scoring that many points on that many shot attempts isn't nearly as impressive a feat. A large number of players would score this many points or more with 100 FG attempts in a single game.
@@Il_Exile_lI what if u shoot 50-50 from midrange and get 100 points. Just because u shot alot doesnt mean its easy to get high points. I get what you're saying but even if u shoot alot scoring high numbers is hard.
The average 3PT% in the NBA is 34% and the fact that he managed to shoot 108 shots and make 52 of them is amazing because of how tired he must have been
In 36 minutes this guy took 108 shots.Thats 3 shots a minute. How do you take 3 shots in a minute when it takes atleast 6 second to bring the ball up to the other court? Kobe was 28/46 when he scored 81 in 41 mins. Wilt was 36/63 in his 100. This dude can play and he can shoot but almost any good player can score 100pts if they take 108 shots.
MyEpicPhone I read up on this article about this game. They said that they were only paying to break this record. They were allowing the opponents to score open layups. That's why one guy got 70 something for the other team. And they were also intentionally fouling the other team to stop the shot clock and send them to free throw lines. No way anyone could score 100 against a decent defence playing a regular basketball game. But this Jack Taylor guy looks he could shoot from the way he was draining it.
U're wrong man, not anybody can do that. Just do some maths, if you get a 50% FG from 108 shots admitting that all of them are 2pointers, it gives you 108 points, this dude just got 138... He must be around the 50% with all the 3s he got. It's an outstanding performance !!
willy wonka the only reason anyone should be taking 108 shots is if they literally cannot miss, he was 52 of 108, that's 48%, that's a good percentage if you take 15 shots in game, or 52 of 108 is good thru 10 games, but if you shoot 108 times in a game you better make at least 75 or 80 shots
This team literally plays no defense. They keep someone back on O the entire time. They let you score and then just try to outscore you. It's why the other team had 107 pts, which you will rarely ever see in D1 games.
Some of you people hate waaaaay too much. He dropped 138 points period. Regardless of how bad the defense was, none of you would've done the same. lol we got basketball critics all over the comments like most of you aren't playing JV or didn't touch varsity till senior year or even go to college. Lol
Why do people just assume things like that? We have all right to think he's a ball hog, say there is bad defence. And you just assume everyone here being a critic can't play basketball, or didn't play for a while or whatever you said. Hell, half of the comments here may be by NBA all stars. Wanna know why? Because you don't know.
+Raphael Sanzio He hit almost 50 percent of his attempts, which is close to ideal for a point/shooting guard. Close to 40 percent from behind the 3pt line. How are those stats pathetic? Sure the defense wasn't great, but many of the people who are talking crap couldn't hit on those percentages in a shoot around. The physical exertion alone for the offense to run completely through one person has to be draining.
First of all. 99% of ALL of you hating on this kid will not and did not play ANY sort of college basketball whatsoever. The FACT that ANYONE scored 138 points in a game of organized basketball is pretty amazing itself. But this was in the NCAA which is even more crazy. You all say there was no defense, uh. HELLO THE DUDES LIKE 6'0 HOW GOOD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO GUARD HIM? He's legit. Credit where it's due.
Anybody remember NBA jam on Sega genesis when the ball would turn into flames and everything you shot when in? Here's that in real life lol. Kid was ridiculous...
The most impressive part about this is that he took 108 shots and still didn't manage a single assist. That takes some next level selfishness to pull off. The next highest fga on his team? 6. Fucking 6. The other player who had 70 points had only 1 assist and looking at the boxscore, this dude was equally selfish. Anyone else notice that two players on one of those teams had 15 and 16 turnovers and 49 overall? I mean what the fuck, how is this even considered college basketball? What a joke, this was a disgrace. Yeah, I am hating, these are some empty ass point totals.
+ParaditeRs Why would he pass it to someone else, when he clearly couldn't miss? That's absurdly illogical, I'm sure you realize that. Passing it just for the sake of not being called selfish, when you're making every shot, is ludicrous and laughable. Again, I'm sure you realize that.
+ParaditeRs I don't know if you've ever played basketball, but when you're having a game like that where you're scoring like a beast, your teammates will keep feeding you the ball...people generally prefer winning over nitpicking about lack of assists. Come on now
I watched your interview on the Wall Street Journal RU-vid video and... Jack, your interview was handled with total CLASS! I loved that you gave 100% credit to your teammates... It's so true that this can ONLY be done as a TEAM EFFORT... Great teammates and what an AMAZING accomplishment!!! It's hard to knock down those kind of numbers shooting on a Shoot-a-way Gun with no defense, but I saw that you were being doubled and triple teamed... JUST AMAZING!!! I'm a Christian, so I LOVED it when you mentioned "Bible Devotional and Prayer" before the game! I wish all the best for you!!! Celina King 10th Grade Basketball Player in Cincinnati
I don't care how small he is, he showed if he's open, he can knock down the shots. You don't realize how many uncontested 3's are missed in both D1 ball and the NBA. He has the ability to make them. He's not going to be an all-star or MVP candidate, but he has some serious shooting skills. Making shots gets you paid in the NBA, because defense isn't much of a priority anymore.
People forget that spot up shooters are a real asset in the nba. Those guys are much needed and this guy can do it. People forget that when hate clouds their eyes
He's a good player, but he took 71 threes in this game. And 108 shots overall. If you take that many shots you should probably score more than 138 points.
Mohamed Saad I think it does. You also need to take into account free throws as well, he was at the line a lot. It’s like harden, his field goal percentage is lower what you would consider good but it’s because he gets to the line so much.
I did even better and in high school. A gym class game all seniors I scored 90 and 15 rebounds 11 steals 4 blocks 16 assists . Too bad no recognition because it was for fun . Story of my life
ToneEsco It doesn't matter what the level of competition was...you still have to make the shots. 138 points in an organized officiated game, at any level, is freaking awesome.
+Este Vato Pancho Villa Cruz It's easy to score 138 points when you take over 100 field goal attempts. Look at this kid stats. It's fucking pathetic when you put it into perspective
Dzenan Kananovic Except for the fact that it's a smaller 3 Point line and its Division 3 with average defence? Yea the kid would die in the NBA or even D-League. What you said was just no... just no..
Dzenan Kananovic Man you are dense, okay I am not trying to bash him. It was a great effort and all but for you to say he could out play NBA players is ludicrous. The guy stands at 5'10, just an inch taller than Nate Robinson. Average NBA player stands at 6'7. Jack Taylor isn't anywhere nearly as athletic as Nate Robinson so for him to get a shot off against players who are several inches taller is difficult. Also the 3 point line is much further in NBA than NCAA, a whole 3 feet! Considering he shot 24-48 from 3 with average defence, I highly doubt he would be able to replicate it in the NBA. And as far as anyone having a performance like this Kobe's 81 points against Raptors, he didn't even play full 48 minutes of the game. He also was doubled team on several occasions unlike Jack Taylor for some reason the other team didn't care too much about slowing him down. Almost always slacked off him so he can get his shot off. Kobe also had a crazy game against Dallas scoring 62 in 3 quarters. Who knows maybe Kobe could've broken Wilts 100 point effort in today's GAME. So before you go praising this kid as a god Learn a fucking thing about basketball you dud.
i played we scored 195 against the other team when we were in high school. Our guard played with about %39 fg 10 pts per game, we let him shot 100 times and he got 46 ppg %69 fg .He didn't score more than 60 points, but it is still gold that he came from %39 to %70 and 10 to 46.So i know that this is possible, somehow he is right. If you give 200 shots to a guy who plays basketball *every game*, 10 games later he will make that 100 as a score.Choose somebody walking in streets, he can break a record too.Maybe not in 10 games, but at the end of the season he *will* make this happen.
Boy, i'm talking about possibilites. It was 10 years ago. These are * "not" * the exact same numbers.Well, it can't be.He was shooting all day long in the game, of course we were shooting too. What did you expect? Yeah, we didn't *EXACTLY* let him shoot 100 times. But the ball had a player, that's what i can say for sure.It was on his hands, all game long. And even this is *NOT* the exact same thing, realize what would happen if we let him 100 shots a game.My point still stands, however.
Everyone complaining about him being too small: There are plenty of players in the NBA who are under 6 ft, also this kid is still growing he could get bigger in the blink of an eye
When I saw the title I assumed no defense was being played.I was mostly right, but this dude was RAINING in shots from everywhere.Plus the majority of them were all net.
Jack Taylor scored 138 points on 52-108 shooting (48%), and was 27-71 (38%) on threes. He took 79% of his team's shots and had zero assists. David Larson on the other team scored 70 points on 33-44 shooting (75%), and took 54% of his team's shots. So David Larson of Faith Baptist was the better basketball player who was overshadowed during this game.
You guys are paying attention to all the stuff that would bring them down, but look what brought Jack up. He worked for every point no matter what team they played against.
No one should be hating on this. Team won by 70. His volume of shots weren't hurting the team. Incredible showing. Don't forget he has another 100 point game the following year 😂
This reminds me of a time in middle school when the coach put the best kid of the entire school on “B” team because he had an attitude problem. Chris (that was the kids name) beat the entire team by himself and scored like 100 points of course I’m over exaggerating, the other team was confused lol 😂
I overheard that lady say “Have a happy thanksgiving” And then I was like... “I’m here cause of his 7 year anniversary video he just posted..... and it is thanksgiving soon!!!
All haters. Angry that some kids better than you at the game you also love. We all had hoop dreams. Did he ask to be in the NBA? He had a good game, period. That's all this videos meant to show. You gotta show respect for a good game played. 139 points regardless, even at the playground is fucking unheard of.
its like the opponents were facing the man who has some qualities of the generation of miracles embodied in this guy (except for the athleticism dunks of aomine, murasakibara and kise) cause he has the speed drives of aomine, ankle breakers of akashi (idk if its true) and the shooting touch of midorima
ball hog + no defense + crappy level of play = 138 points. Honestly, I think my junior high basketball team could have beaten these guys and that's not saying much.
+Tony Kim They're not bad, but it points to the fact that he didn't so much have an amazing game as he just had a huge volume of shots. When Wilt Chamberlain scored 100, he only had 63 FG attempts and shot 57%. He was also 28/32 at the free throw line. When Kobe scored 81 he only had 46 FG attempts and shot 60%. He was also 18/20 from the line and 7/13 from three. Those were games where the player was truly playing amazingly. Most players would score over 100 points if they took over 100 shots, with 71 of the being threes, in a single game.
I still say Bevo Francis is leader because he scored 116 points one game & 113 points in another in college with no shot clock or 3 point line. You take away 1 point for every 3 pointer he made & now he has 111 points. Long live Bevo's name lets not forget the greatest college scorer who passed up playing with the NBA to work at a steel mill to be near his wife & kids.He also averaged 49 points per game in college with a 68% fg percentage most were 20-25 footers no 3 point line & many hook shots from top of key
i.m from iowa. use to visit there when young. extended family lived there for a bit its the schools n coaching style n game strategy. no clock management. fast pace n when someone hitting. make iso. guy had half side of court when ball was brought down. like that coach in football that doesnt punt. get ball up fast as u can. do math on his stats that game. not bad. my sons uncle scored over 60 in highschool ball 3 times in one season out of s.e. iowa
Mohamed Saad that’s what happens when a player who could’ve been average in div 2 plays div 3 to rack up points against the shittiest teams and his coach jocks him enough to have his teammates force passes to him just so some guy who could’ve played div 2 set a record against a shitty div 3 team. If he scored so much why didn’t he play div 2.
Mohamed Saad he’s definitely not a selfish person if you actually watch his videos he NEVER even talks about this on his RU-vid channel he only has one video that he uploaded a few days ago
Damn good game. You never know, he might have a shot, even if it's through the D-League. And if you're better, put it on video. Let's see it. Don't hate, appreciate.
What an amazing feat and achievement! It shocks me right to my heart that I would faint... Why is he not in the NBA? He is easily a NBA material and should have been drafted top 10 in the NBA draft and playing in the NBA now. Where is he? Why didn't the NBA chase after him? Doesn't matter if its D1, D2, or D3. If a truly skilled player who puts up that big number, grab him!
Will Chapman That's what you would think. Then you realize another player scored 70 points on the other team and the Grinnell college program literally plays just for records like this
Will Chapman Just cause he scored this many points in a low level college game does not mean he is nba material nba is the best players in the world people understand estimate how hard it is to play against the best competition for 82 games. and lets be real it was a team effort for him to get that many points it had to be im only impressed by his ability to take so many shots
Yeah no. He's scoring this many points in D3. There is a reason he's playing D3 basketball and not D1. There is a WORLD of difference between D3 and D1 in terms of defense and competitiveness.
First of all, the replies I have received... Of course I will not argue about the fact that Division 1 competition is better than Division 3 competition in GENERAL. The worst players in Division 1 are still better than the worst players in Division 3 in GENERAL. Division 1 tends to have more of the better athletes and in some case scenario, bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled in GENERAL. Now the reason why I capitalized the word "General" is because it defines superficiality in the comments given concerning Jack Taylor's game and how he scored so many points in a low level college game... Let's talk about the SPECIFICS in this situation. Not only am I applying to Jack Taylor but to the group of athletes in Division 3 who are highly skilled and have the talent to play Division 1 sports and have the talent to make the progression towards playing in professional sports. We need to look at this.. If you look at Jack Taylor's history... He had a Division 1 scholarship (That shows he was good enough to play Division 1 basketball or else he would have never received the offer) and he got injured in Division 1 and the coach apparently refused to give him a chance to heal and get back into his momentum which was why he left to go play at Grinnell. Now, talking about SPECIFICS concerning the group of athletes in Division 3 with a Division 1-Professional skill and ability to play the game at high level... There are reasons behind why those highly skilled players ended up with a career in Division 3 instead of Division 1. First, a player and his family could have had not the enough amount of money to fulfill the requirement to go to Division 1 whether he is on a scholarship or not and had to go to a smaller school to ease the money problems. Second, a player probably did not have the grades that were good enough to go to Division 1 and could only get into a Division 3 school. Third, a player could have had a Division 1 scholarship and experienced Division 1 but was not pleased with the coach and his playing time and that the coach did not give him the chance to show what his skills could do and that the coach had turned out to be wrong as the player has left to go to Division 3 to play full time and really achieve hugely. Fourth, a Division 1 coach could have possibly not wanted to have that Division 1 player transferred to his school and possibly that player only had 1 year of eligibility and that the coach would not take him for only 1 year. Fifth, a player from Division 1 could have had attitude problems while at Division 1 and then went to Division 3 and fixed his attitude problems. Sixth, he could have failed out of Division 1 school and gone to Junior College and still struggled but managed to barely get into Division 3 school. Seventh, the athlete could have had received a Division 1 scholarship but the education was not good enough for him so he wanted to go to a school where the education was better for him. Now having said the specific possible reasons, that should expand the superficial minds to understanding that just because a player is labelled as a Division 3 player doesn't mean his talent level is low. In Jack Taylor's case, he had a Division 1 scholarship, got hurt, left the school, went to Grinnell and played full time. Now, two games he scored over 100 points... What I mean for NBA to be looking at him is the fact that he has the ability to create shooting opportunities, move the ball well, handle the ball well, high confidence in his shooting ability, mentality of the game, quickness, ability to execute the difficult shots. He dominated Division 3 basketball, period. That is what a highly skilled Division 3 player who is good enough for Division 1 and professional sport should do... DOMINATE it! At any level, scoring 100 points or more is more than an amazing feat and not even high school players have done it. Last thing, there are numbers of Division 1 players who will not make it to the professional sport and there are players in Division 1 who should not even be there and deserve to play in Division 3 while there are some Division 3 players who deserve to play in Division 1 and a chance at a professional career. All of what I have said has come from deep analysis and experience with all levels of college competition and scouting all the levels in college competitions so I share what I had absorbed and learned and opened my mind to more knowledge. Think about all of this before giving out superficial comments about Division 1 and Division 3 competition and Jack Taylor please. Thank you
Look at all the defense that ISN'T being played. I could be the star player on the other team and I never made HS ball in the Maritimes. Andrea Bargnani plays better defense than this.
Shoot 48 3 pointers and make 24 in any game. Whether he played the worst team or not it was still a great performance. That's why its a record. #DontHate
of course you wouldnt. its not the nba. he has hand in his face almost every time. you would never score like this even with no defense, totally alone at the park. piss of
