I read that the upcoming AC Hexe is bringing back a fear mechanic. I loved the Ripper DLC so this is exciting.

Jacob can use the same fear system that Arno had in dead kings, and that ezio had in brotherhood. An example to test this is stealth defeat any templar leader in a gang stronghold, or even the templar leader stood outside the carriage pearl is defeated in. The fear system in the ripper dlc is just an over powered version that ruins gameplay.

Quebec didn't make syndicate really. The creative team behind syndicate (but only Jacob, his story and the original concept for the game AC Syndicate) were largely from other projects like AC2 brotherhood or AC3. The lead writer being a prime example. The ripper dlc and evie and her story weren't made by those who created syndicate to begin with.

Ysuke should be dlc. And no one would have bait an eye.

First of all it's Ubisoft, they had it coming for being a shitty company with bad track records to get their stock crashed 15% in the market. Good, I hope it's an eye-opener for them that we demand quality. That being said, I'm looking forward to Shadows, but I won't buy the game before nor immediately after launch like I always did.

To be fair the dlc makes you play as the bad sidekick from the main game. Evie isn't suited for the ripper dlc, and she is as always dull, 2D, and boring. The new gameplay features were all made for jack, so why not play as him? It's a fair question.

We should have had one third the dlc to play as Jacob, and free roam for him. Then he'd be treated the same as evie was in the main story when Jacob was the protagonist, where evie had a third of his story. But this dlc was hell bent on ruining Jacob's story.

This channel doesn't like syndicate. They've said so before. They only like the dlc and evie. So they don't pay attention to what makes Syndicate a good game or special in any way.

I know him as the recast David Collins from the Dark Shadows audios starting with Kingdom of the Dead, as well as being the guest actor in a couple with Kathryn Leigh Scott in the very early period of the range. His performance as the Sandman trying to assert his influence over Maggie is very creepy.

The dlc sucked. The main game was actually good.

There's only two, and the manor one was the only good one.

Only the new side quests were bad. Brothel attacks were a bad version of child liberation missions. Close the fight clubs were just a case of spamming fear abilities and then you lose one of the most fun base game side activities. Slow carriage can just delete itself as it was a terrible mission type. Walk of shame is equally bad. I mean why anyone likes this dlc is beyond me.

One of my favourite games as well, but I absolutely hate the ripper dlc. It was a spit in the face of the game its actually a dlc for.

People hated Syndicate because it was a parody, a cheap knock-off of the AC formula, full of incredible cheese. I still almost throw up in my mouth whenever I think of Victoria's "let's have cake" line or anything Jacob says.

Also the LotR fanbase isn't toxic. They just demand a certain level of respect for the source material and lore, if not to the letter, then at least spiritually.

People "hated" syndicate because evie and Jacob had separate fans who fight, and ubisoft chose to only please Jacob fans so much in the base game, and then chose to only please evie fans in the dlc. Leaving both groups of fans annoyed. Tho it is worth noting Jacob is the favourite among hardcore syndicate fans, as he is the actual protagonist of the story.

For the same reason evie got back from India, instead of letting the natural narrative of Jacob vs the ripper play out, the origins sequal will be about Aya unfortunately.

@@alibiiana3919 Kim belair made sweet baby. Evie was created when Kim joined syndicate development. Not before. It isn't a coincidence. Kim has said in an interview on the sisterhood RU-vid channel (among many lies she told) that she had been told Jacob was the main protagonist. She also had said that she joined the team when the game was largely finished. This is important because many leaks and concept art and development details, including short clips and images, clearly show that Jacob was the original protagonist and only protagonist of AC Victory. Jacob did however have the outfit of George.

The "fear system" is cheap and lets you end any stealth ir combat situation whenever you like. The story was written by a 5 year old and it was terrible. The dlc basically says you wasted your time in the main game. Some side missions are avaliable before you get the fear system, yet you cant complete them without the fear system, meaning you get trapped in a side mission. An example would be "close the fight clubs." On that note, if anything was fun in syndicate, then you get to ruin it in the ripper dlc. Fight clups were cool, but now we get a cheap close the fun fight clubs mission type, that you just have to use that over powered fear system on. The dlc wants to be empowering but it gives evie gear like "velvet glove" and "kiss the hand" seriously? Thats lame. Jacob isn't playable even tho evie was playable when the base game was primarily about Jacob. So why the double standard? Henry is basically forgotten, despite being the only narrative evie even had, so instead the dlc just turns evie into a poor mans Jacob. The mystery of who jack was is over by the third level. The dlc forgot that its in the late 1800s, and basically never takes advantage of the new things like trains, steam boats, industrial areas with all the machines, or electricity. No new weapon style added was lame. All new gameplay was obviously made for jack, but we just get it for evie with magic dust for some reason, which was also lame. The rooks were a gang concerned with freedom fighting. They wouldn't turn on Jacob and become so hateful, as shown in the dlc. That's a ridiculous jump of logic. At the time this dlc launched, everyone rightly hated it. It's a dlc for syndicate, yet it is made souly for people who didnt like syndicate or jacob. This makes it a bad expansion for a game that is about jacob, and is, well, syndicate.

​@@1chibanKasuga Yup, I remembered that every game after Black Flag was generally poorly received until Origins, and even that game have its fair share of people not liking it because its a bit more RPG now. The loudest opinion (and time) dictate the majority opinion for a game. AC games kind of crack the code on this phenomenon where their games tend to better received more as time went on. Wait a few more years and you see Valhalla fans will pop off about how great the game was.

I mean, did they tho? Jack the "lad" was a terrible and often comedic character in this game. I mean he jumps over a table to attack while screaming "MEET THE RIPPER!" not exactly stealthy like in the history books is he.

@@Erudito-xn3po I think he Meet rhe ripper lines were done to show his insanity as a serial killer. Overall it is portrayed better in the game than in real life. At least if you count the looks. The syndicate one looks more terrifying and you can actually get scared by it.

It really isn't. The story is trash. They make up stuff that can't have happened as back story, then theu say jack the ripper is actually... drum roll... "Jack the lad." Lame. Evie doesn't develop much at all. Jacob is cut from a story that is essentially about him. An the victims of the ripper were disrespected and made into killers themselves.

Is it's villian more intresting then the villians in base game? Yes. Do we need the character development that we already had from base game? No. I dont see anything bad. Also you are okay with two organisations fighting for advenced tech stuff from ancient very smart creatures(one of them are in north Jamaica) but you arent okay with normal character backgrounds?

The story is ruined when the mystery of who jack is, is given to the player on the third level, and he's "jack the lad." Seriously? Thats lame. The dark london, is exactly the same is the London in syndicate. All that's changed is the colour is more muted, and it can't rain anymore. So it isn't a more dark london. The story is simply portrayed as darker. As for the ripper victims, well, them being canonically killers themselves who were after jack, makes his actions somewhat self defence, until the last victim who was a message to evie. It's insulting to the memory of the victims.

The dlc makes no sense at all. It's terrible. Also read this if you want to know a little about why this dlc is as awful as it is. Originally, Jacob was indeed the only playable protagonist in the game, and evie didn't even exist as she is today. The game looked much darker and Jacob had the same outfit as George. This bit is important context. A woman called Kim belair and her friends got involved in the games development, fairly late, and they are somewhat famous for changing games to be more "inclusive" but that really just translates to more female and less white. Jacob was actually always supposed to be bisexual, and the games lead writer is in fact a gay man himself. The deep hypocrisy of Kim belair is that she doesn't care about that being inclusive, because she only values inclusion for people like her. And so she essentially blackmailed the syndicate team into creating evie as a playable twin protagonist. During an interview she can be heard complaining that her fellow devs told her Jacob is the main character, and she responded by saying she could manipulate people into thinking evie was the protagonist, by misrepresenting the twins online. You see, Kim belair was originally hired because she is a marketing expert, and so she knows how to manipulate what people think of a product. You can find this interview on a AC sisterhood RU-vid video, titled after the woman who I am referring to here. Anyway, the games development ended up going through hell, and the team had to work backwards and cut a lot out, in order to add evie on time for launch. Kim belair went on to be the founder of the company called "sweet baby inc" who are currently in a lot of controversial conversation for similar reasons as we are discussing now. Kim belair since said "if they (they meaning the development team she is working with) don't see the value in what I want for a game, then I'll scare them with what might happen if they don't do as I ask." She actually said that. You can find her saying this in a variety of articles and videos about her. Just look her up and see for yourself, however take note, many journalists are her allies and lie for her. Jacob is the character shown in every single bit of leaked gameplay, screenshots, videos, development notes, artworks showing story moments are almost always shown with Jacob, and Jacob has 3 times as many concept arts that are all dated sometimes years older than the artworks for evie. Jacob also has artworks of the exact character shown in thr AC victory leaks, and this character is described as "Jacob frye." We can see on a website (if I use its name the comment will he removed for some reason) that is used for game devs to share their work together, and network, and this website has a variety of AC victory stuff. From menus screens to gameplay render screenshots, and even a display of the room people would sit in, when the team would reveal the game. It all shows Jacob frye as the protagonist, both in description, and visibly the "victory protagonist" has Jacob's face, exactly the same as it is in syndicate. The only reason the victory outfit isn't used for Jacob now, is because the art team wanted something that reflects Jacob's gang underworld story better, for his main look. Hence the victory outfit was given to George instead. If your interested, you can also find some cool black flag development stuff on that website as well. Originally, Pearl wasn't a character in syndicate/victory. Roth was, but he had a very different look and narrative role. The character that eventually got split to creat Roth as he is now, nd pearl, was Jacob's mentor. An older lady with grey hair, a black and red version of Lydia's outfit, and a silver mask to hide a badly injured face. She was the late games plot twist main villain. And the idea behind her character was later recycled into watch dogs legion's Sabine. Legion launched on the first big anniversary for Syndicate, and so many of it's ideas were actually restorations of cut syndicate narrative ideas. Evie eventually replaced thus mysterious mentor/villain to Jacob, but the narrative role of this mentor character was given to Roth and pearl, while evie would be instead, a good guy in the story. You can even spot the necklace thus mysterious mentor character had, on both Lydia, and evie but only on the box art, as evie didn't have it in the actual game. I hope you see for yourself, as I have put a lot of effort into trying to share this, but it isn't easy, as journalists rarely talk about it honestly, and those who support belair, tell lies about reduced female characters, despite the reality being opposite. Note also that the "AC victory project" mod, is a mod to restore that original version of the game. The mod team have seen all the files in game, and researched the games development extensively. They also say Jacob was the only protagonist in AC Victory, and it was indeed Jacob. Evie wasn't a playable character at all. You can check on their nexus page.

In a sisterhood interview with belair, she said that she would work to discredit jacob in the community and promote evie, which she did in anger after being told that they wouldn't change evie to be the main character, as the game had largely finished development with only Jacob as the main character, before evie was added. Now let's look at the state of other games belair has worked on. Shadows has a female main character who is super stealthy, and a male historical figure who isn't. Similar to evie and the Ripper in the dlc. Or similar to how belair wants to show Jacob and evie, even tho in reality, Jacob is very stralthy, with all the black box levels, and Jacob has far more development as a person and depth of character, as he wrestles between being a ruthless gang leader and an honourable assassin. Note, belair is a former marketing and community management person. She knows how to manipulate people into thinking what she wants, and she has plenty of allies in that department to help her. Belair also tried to pull the same tricks with Origins, odyssey and valhalla. Bayek is a warrior, Aya was all stealth, at least that's how theu are described. But look closer, and the opposite is true. Aya was always at war or in a burning city. Bayek was often doing stealth. Alexios was made canonically deimos, and kassandra the eagle bearer. That one speaks for itself. And allegedly male eivor is Odin, who is a warrior, while female eivor got to be stealthy and use the hidden blade to take down the order. It's a trend that promotes a false point of view on these characters that is designed to manipulate people into liking the female characters more.
