I have just come here after watching the antiques road show 10/3/2019 his widowed wife was on it. She brought in a chair that was specially made for Jack, when they were doing the filming of Oliver in 1968. It had his name inscribed on it,and unbelievably, although it looked like something you might see in a skip,it was valued at between £6000 and £8000. His life story is somewhat tragic as he had a dependency for alcohol that pretty much screwed his life up. Although he did eventually manage to kick his habit in 1989,when he put his life back on track. Tragically though he died at the age of only 53 in 2006 having had his vocal chords removed through Oral cancer 2 years earlier. He seemed like a really nice guy though. Rest in peace Jack Wild.
He was .. Bless him. And talented. Not many so called.. Stars' are that nowadays. Just happy to have been around since the PufnStuf Days to remember him. RIP Jack Wild.
Jack you inspired me as a child to go into the arts. Only wish I'd gotten to Thank You. So glad you had this moment at Catalina Island. It looks like it was a beautiful day there.
OMG WOW !!! HR Puffin Stuff! Now that's a huge blast from the past :-D My mom used to talk about the good ole days... now I understand the sentiment of all the great memories.
Reading Jack’s memoir It’s a Dodger’s Life now. Had to look up this video. He talks about it in Chapter 12. He was scared to death to fly in the small plane to film this at Catalina. Hey that’s a girl’s bike! Met him in 2000.
I still have this 45 record. I remember seeing this program and ran right out and bought it.! Picture of you, was on the flip side. ( heck. I still have my beatles 45 of I wanna hold your hand.!) ha
Recuerdo verlo de pequeño, en algunas con Mark lester, era bastante carismático, qué tristeza su enfermedad, este chico era muy talentoso, habría llegado muy lejos de estar vivo ❤.
I’m reading his autobiography and just got to the video for his song. I’m so surprised it’s on RU-vid, but what a treat. Charming as he was. He’s certainly missed.
When I looked him up I couldn't believe he was born in 52,and Oliver was filmed in 67(released 68) he was like15.. I thought maybe he was 10 or 11.and in put stuff he looked 13.he definitely looked younger than his age(s).He was very talented, and funny Phil Collins Mom just picked him out off a soccer field.
I was reading in his autobiography that by the time he was doing melody (this age), there was this girl crazy enough about him to get her agent to put her in the cast of that same movie! Just to be near him! He thought it was crazy. Then he goes to a party at her house. The agent comes up to jack and is like “I want to show you her bedroom!” So she takes him up and he sees a whole room full of pictures of him and he thinks it’s the creepiest think ever
Found this as I was about to pack it up for bed....This song was such a product of its time, and so is this video (is this a snippit from a tv show?) Thanks for putting it up...
Jack was a perfect example of the dangers of smoking. He was extremely good looking, but then got cancer that required his entire JAW to be removed! He looked horrible after that... and he died of that cancer a few years later at a young age.
