Jack's back! Introducing the redesigned Jackaloft Insulated Jacket. We started with the same exceptional insulation and focused on improving both mobility and weather protection. By utilizing a stretch 20D ripstop fabric, along with a refined fit, we delivered superior freedom of movement, while a dry microporous fabric and DWR coating provide additional protection against light weather and precipitation.
In addition to the upgrades, the Jackaloft remains true to itself; a super low profile, exceptionally warm, and highly packable insulation layer that's cleverly disguised in a classic overshirt design. Casually styled to seamlessly integrate between riding, travel, and town, the Jackaloft is as versatile as it is functional.
Don’t let its humble silhouette fool you. The Jackaloft insulated shirt-jack punches way above its weight. Ultralight, highly compressible, and super warm, the Jackaloft uses fully synthetic PrimaLoft® Gold insulation with Cross Core technology. This high-tech insulation combines PrimaLoft's top-of-the-line fibers with aerogel (google ‘aerogel’ for more info!) to provide 52% more warmth than the same weight of PrimaLoft® Gold alone. This enhances warmth and decreases weight, resulting in a highly packable, ultralight garment.
Originally developed by NASA, aerogel is composed of more than 95% air and is the lightest solid material known to man. It’s also one of the most effective insulation materials ever made. When integrated directly into synthetic fibers, aerogel dramatically enhances warming. This isn’t just something you see in charts and stats. You’ll immediately feel the effects yourself when you wear the Jackaloft. On a moderately cool evening, you might be surprised to find yourself leaving the Jackaloft partially unzipped, which is surprising given its size and weight. We packed as much warmth as we possibly could into this very small package.
The size of the Jackaloft is important not only on warm days when it’s packed away on the bike but also on cold days when you’re wearing it under armor. With insulation, body armor, and an outer shell, one of our biggest challenges is how to layer up without making our riding kits so bulky that we can’t move around. Another challenge is that body armor, a shell, and constant wind pressure on a non-windscreened enduro bike can compress your insulating layer, removing its loft and reducing warmth. That’s why the Jackaloft uses synthetic insulation rather than goose-down. Synthetic fibers will maintain their loft even under pressure, keeping you warmer on the bike.
We styled the Jackaloft as a shirt-jack for a very practical reason: we want this to be the only insulating layer you need on your trip. If we can disguise a highly technical insulated riding layer as a badass garment that you’re stoked to wear around camp or on your next Tinder date, then that’s one less thing you have to pack. Wear it everywhere.

I know that you designed it with mind to wear body armour over Jackaloft Jacket . But what about elbow protectors ,do you wear them over the jacket as well ? Would be nice to see how this Jacket could accommodate elbow protectors under the jacket , or even better to show how this Jacket could accommodate larger body armour like Alpinestars A10 or Leatt 6.5 if somebody would prefer to wear body armour under the Jackaloft Jacket . Would I have to buy a larger size in this case?

It depends on which armor you are using. If you're using more of a shirt-style armor the Jackaloft would be better overtop but if you use a harness the Jackaloft can be worn underneath. If you want to wear the Jackaloft over armor you will likely need to size up.

I love my Jackaloft. Had it for about 2 years now and its my go to coat, even in winter! I layer it with a warm sweater if needed and its great except for the coldest of days. The new color is nice but too much gear right now. I'll wait for a sale...anyways, summer is starting in New Jersey. Also, I'd love to try a large now since you changed the fit. Im usually a large but the old one didnt fit right so I upsized to an XL. Its always been a little long in the arms.

If you love your old Jackaloft you'll love the new one. You just won't likely be needing one in New Jersey in July!

Looks nice. Two things: It could be very helpful to show how to wear all this gear together. For example, if I have the Ectotherm and Jackaloft which one do I take? What's the better or more appropriate outer shell to wear over the mid layer. How will your new rain shells work vs a Basilisk etc. With so many garments it's difficult to know what will be the most bang for the buck. Secondly, many of us who are taller or shorter, wider through the middle or have broader shoulders would really like to buy and wear your gear. But your sizing only seems to fit a narrow swath of the population. What about women? Can they comfortably wear your gear without compromise? Anyway, just my opinion.

Agreed, most products today seem only to be sized for skinny europeans or runway models.....

I'm 6'4" and 220lbs. I wear XXL in most Mosko gear and it fits well. I wish they would do a "Tall" version of the XL to reduce some of the bloat in the arms and chest. XL is unfortunately cut too short. They "Tall" pants are perfect.

For layering it's hard to give definitive answers because it depends on the expected weather and what kind of trip you're going on. We'll pass the feedback along to see if we can incorporate that information into the videos. Apparel sizing is tough since everyone is different. However, as far as women's apparel goes almost half of Mosko Moto is women. Typically, our pants and most of the tops fit them but it all comes down to their specific body types.

It's a cross between a shirt and a jacket which is typically called a shacket. Then we played off the Jackelope which is a rabbit with antlers to land on jackaloft!
