Just a note for this video. I mention the goal zero cable that can be used to extend the distance of the solar panel. Now I have come to use it (another video coming), I have found even though the sockets are compatible, the depth isnt quite right so the positive part of the cable doesn't make contact. So you need to cut abit off. I will show this in a future video.

That would be great, a follow up video with trimming goal zero extension cable 8mm connector. Recently purchased 1 jackery solar 100w limited by provided cable length. Do have goal zero 15ft & 30ft extension cable at the ready.

@@SpectrumGeeks You just answered my question about Sunpower in the video. I bought a clone of this for only 99 that claims to use those cells with ETFE coating and they do look identical to version 2 of this brand.

I just bought the Jackery E240. I personally did not buy the Jackery solar panel due to lack of connector cables and the fact it is not waterproof that I thought was very daft. I bought another solar panel that is foldable and was 60% cheaper, waterproof and provides 2 ports one that is fast charging via USB as the Jackery doesn't support a fast charge. Purchase was on the advice of other Jackery users. Works fine and lots of connectors given including 8mm connector. I am going camping 🏕 soon so will test it out then. Did you buy your Jackery or were you a lucky youtuber that got one free.

I plugged my solar saga 100w into my jackery 1000 and am getting 124 watts. 2/23/2022 @ noon in San Diego CA, USA. I plugged an HQST 100w flexible panel in and the best I got was 80 watts. I switched the panels back and forth for a half hour or so and the results were consistent. I put the HQST in front of the Jackery so both had the same angle to the sun. I am still surprised at the Jackery's output. At 1:30 the Jackery is putting out 99w and the HQST is at 77w.

Be careful with your length of cable and gauge. Have a 2% loss at 15' with 16 gauge and 5.6 amps. And 5% loss at 40'. I use the iGreely 14 gauge extension cables and try and stay near the 2% loss range.

Good call on the loses, although I think the panel generates more than the MPPT controller the Jackery can handle anyway. Will do some tests though.

@@SpectrumGeeks Jackery says the e500 should accept 100 watts max through DC port. With no loss at 18 volts (s100 rating), that gets you the 5.6 amps or 100 watts. (with excellent sun of course)

Yes, you could use just the USB port on the solar panel.

Were you able to make the adaptors to Powerpoles? I looked and could not find the video. I just got this panel and need to find a 8mm jack.

Yes, sadly I have just never got around to doing that video. I basically used a Goal Zero one and shaved a few mm of the casing so the Jackery adapter would fit.

Yes, in that situation it would be best paired with an MPPT solar controller. I have done this in my Hero Camper Ranger where I can plug it in as an extra solar panel.

I just bought aJackory 1500 and it comes with two panels. Once it’s fully charged how long and how much can it handle? I live in the United States in Louisiana and we have roughly 3 to 4 months of hurricanes season and I wanna know the longevity of the battery. For saying if there’s cloud cover for 2 to 3 days at a time.

Thats difficult to say, it has 1534Wh useable storage, so how long it lasts will depend on the consumption of the devices you use with it.

Is it possible to charge the MacBook directly from the panel with the DC output (because USB ports do not charge it only iPhone), if so what kind of extension/adapter is there to buy?

In theory is possible. Take a Mac charger / cable, cut the end off and attach the DC connector plug that will connect to the DC out of the solar panel. I am not sure how the Mac will handle the power output as there will be nothing regulating it and handling any fluctuations. So I would be wary of doing it myself.

I just returned my 100w panel..it just stopped working after 2 months.. I researched and surprised to find these panels have a history of pooping out due to wiring issues. I do plan on purchasing another. Not sure if this panel is durable enough to be set up and put away daily.. 😮

You are unlikely to ever get the full 100W because the Jackery power pack is current limited to about 3 amps. To get 100W your panel needs to reach 33V under load which it will never do. I think the power pack MPPT runs at about 25V.

Can you plug this jackery solar panel into the inergy flex generator to solar charge it?

I cant say if the plug fitting is the same to plug direct into the Flex generator as I don't have one. However, you could always make your own adapter plug if needed. I have done this so I can use the solar panel and my Hero Camper inverter.

Yes, you can charge using the USB ports on the solar panel itself, with no need for the Jackery Battery Device.

@@SpectrumGeeks when I do this I get nothing when trying to charge my iPhone. I see there is a little led light there that is not lit up and nothing on the phone. Is it finicky when it comes to cable? Any tips? Could it be broken? Again it’s just the solar panel. Thank you.

@@MetalVentor The iPhone requires a certain amount of power before it will start the charge process, and this varies based on the model i.e. newer ones seem to need more power than the old ones to charge. So if yours is not charging (and other USB items are working when plugged in), that the solar panel is not outputing enough power to start the charge. This may be due to not sufficient continuous sun, or the port cant meet the demand of the phone version. I have an iPhone 8 Plus and this works.

@@SpectrumGeeks I bought an aftermarket 8mm to MC4 and the crimp was set reverse polarity. I m making a conversion cable for a friend who bought a panel but not from Jackery. I don't want to dropped it off at his house with the polarity mismatched and Jackery tells nothing on its instruction manuals which way it is. Thank you for your help!

I don't have a PowerOak, but if its the same connector / you can make a converter then yes. I use my Jackery SolarSaga with my Hero Camper Ranger as an additional solar panel also.

The panels are garbage and break very easily. I have a jackery 500 and the folding panel that came with it. I have had the model for 2 years. We used the set to power our aspernova 12v fridge which id did fine till this summer. In total we went camping and used the panel 10 times in 2 years. I kept the panel in the original bubble wrap and box after every use. Stored inside my home securely between uses. I babied the thing as the panel is obviously once you get it extremely fragile, thin and weak panel construction with ZERO support to the back sides. It failed that last trip. I contacted Jarkery about the broke product and all I got back was nothing, zero, crickets. Shitty product ( the panel) from shitty company that ignores requests to back up their product. Avoid their panels, there are far better options out there. I have no complaints about the 500 power station seems to do its job just the bloody garbage they peddled me for a solar panel. Save your money find a reputable company.

Deffo sounds like you had a bad experience, mine is a few years old now and still working great and no signs of wear.
