Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) says goodbye to Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) before he leaves for Boston to run the Foundation. Watch 'Grey's Anatomy' on ABC and Hulu, streaming and on demand.
I love how they wrapped this up by showing us that their friendship mattered to both of them even though it's not the most iconic friendship on the show they really did have a lot of affection for each other
That was the only thing I heard and chuckled too and the felt all the feels... well and also Met saying, “I am the only one standing”. I can’t help but feel like a chapter so important and surreal has been closed and as Grey fans we have been a huge part of😭🥰🙌🏾👌🏾
Jackson and Meredith’s friendship didn’t get enough credit, they really had a lot in common, and went through a lot of loss together - they had some really great scenes and I’m glad the friendship got its own scene in the send-off episode all things considered, this might be one of my favourite character send offs, it feels really full-circle for Jackson’s character to end up with April, who is very clearly the love of his life and take on the family foundation (which was such a big part of his life) and make it his own while “changing the world”

"Everyone else has either abandoned me or died" and mer clutching the pillow at the end.. PLEASE EXCUSE ME WHILE I SINGLEHANDEDLY DOUBLE KLEENEX'S PROFITS
Glad the writers are shedding light on a friendship that while it wasn't in your face on screen it was still very present. See THIS is the goodbye, we needed from Alex. Not a letter and a few flashes of what Alex's life is like with his twins.
I cried like a baby on that episode between all the letters but seeing Jo break down hurt so bad. Can you imagine loving somebody so much that you can’t hate them for abandoning you after everything they know you went through and what you went through with them. Knowing that him leaving you didn’t mean he didn’t love you but he had to do the right thing and if he saw you again he never would’ve been able to do it. That was so heavy that might’ve been my biggest cry since the beginning and I’ve been watching since it started.
They should have showed their friendship more because they had a similar life. They are both legacy kids, they understand each other. They wouldn't have to show them as each others person but just a friendship on a deep level.
Jackson and Meredith had just an amazing chemistry as friends you could feel that Ellen and Jesse are real friends in real life and this make Meredith and Jackson’s relationship just natural even if they didn’t developed it a lot
I seriously wanna meet the writer who writes lines for Jackson. Have you guys wondered how can his words be so powerful? Like the speech in awards show when he was talking about Mer, then the better healthcare opportunities talk with Catherine and everything. This is one of the major reason why am I gonna miss his character ❤
@@mariaferburmester but using that logic then how did she know when she first saw him that he had to live up to the legacy of having that name? Doesn’t compute.
I love how he said the first thing in the agenda is making sure April and Harriet are settled in and happy. So happy for a Japriet endgame ❤️ Jackson's character development is 💯
“I have the privilege of good health care” love the acknowledgment of that. This show has so many good values taught in it. That’s just a tiny taste too. So much respect for this show
These FLASHBACKS!!! I just loved the way they were integrated throughout the episode, great directing by kevin as always and amazing job to all the people in post production!!
I'm glad they gave these last two episodes to Jackson's goodbye especially this one so he has a lot of the focus as he leaves the show and not part of many stories if it had been in the season finale. Love the callback to his and Meredith's history and the fact that they indeed were the last ones standing out of their residence group. Jackson Avery, you will be missed greatly and Jesse Williams, a big Thank You for your time on Grey's Anatomy. It's been epic.
Mer teach Jackson to broke rules... And they learn a lot of each other... Mer and Bailey are the two last standing of their residence class... It's so sad Jackson left but I love the way they left the door open to comeback as guest or be in charge of some episode...
They didn't give him this episode instead it had the others that they could have done with out but I guess because he had a whole episode before they didn't want to do it again. Another character that they failed to fully develop. I think Jesse missed his on screen partner a lot. His goodbye with jo was so blah. They should have kept them as platonic friends
final season vibes? we got a guest appearance w george, derek, april, MARK AND LEXIE thank you guys for that. everyone’s dead and left, all we need is cristina and meredith to visit izzie and alex and meet their kids and that’s a damn good ending. end it in another three years and everyone’s gonna be all wrinkly edit** yes i know it got renewed, but i think it would’ve been good to end this season
Sadly, any christina wishes are out. I read somewhere that sandra oh said she never plans on coming back because that part of her life is done and she's moved on.
Jackon Avery will be missed, he became a good surgeon and I personally gonna miss him. The flashbacks were beautiful. It's simple the carousel never stops turning.
Meredith's look face at 2.53... wow, It was like she became a young woman again, such powerful look. Can I say after 17 seasons of therapy, breakdowns, life-death experiences, drama, shocking news, etc. Meredith faced through, this was the very first time she really felt alone (and abandoned) again in a very long time?
@selly glom but after everything the world has been through this year, did you really want them/expect them to end it on such a sour note of being all about COVID after having a 17 year run, there’s no way they would do that to the show, or the fans
@@ginakellett I think Jackson leaving was my last straw :( I honestly think it would have been a good ending. We got to see everyone who died or left. It was a nice closure to the show, in my opinion.
At least for me this feels like the end of the show. Jackson was my window into this world and I have been following his journey. With his journey concluded and now leaving with April and his children, this is the end
Ugh this scene was so beautiful with the flashbacks and simple piano. I wasn’t even emotional when he announced his departure because it’s a happy ending and the show is dying IMO but that scene was everything 🥺
Enough with the sadness in this show. Yes I know it's a medical drama but I'm sick of crying and basically seeing Meredith staying back all alone and lonely. Avery was one of the best male characters in Seattle Grace Memorial..
Jackson had the second best exit of the show after Cristina so glad they decided to give Meredith closure to her and Jackson friendship. Wished they did that for more characters.
I think it got renewed so Meredith can get her happy ending. Maybe they will bring back Scott Speedman as the transplant surgeon. Or maybe Meredith will finally go out with Hayes. I just wish she could have had real closure with De Luca.
@@a_noelle8595 She doesn't have to pair up. But the show already established that Meredith can be alone but she even discovered with her therapist that she didn't want to be alone. I do not have a problem with either story arc but the one they have set up is that Meredith didn't want to be alone. Storylines for her being a brilliant surgeon have hit a wall. Mini liver and abdominal wall transplants has not happened in awhile. If they came up with something new in that regard it would be cool. But they haven't yet. At the moment she doesn't even know if she can stand long enough to be a surgeon any more.
@@ellieon well one might argue that if they're pointing to her not even being able to stand long enough to operate then maybe end the show? Grey's has nothing else to prove. They've done all that needs to be done. But also wasn't that therapist thing like a decade ago? People grow and change. Also, she's far from alone. She has 3 children and a whole family surrounding her.
@@a_noelle8595 No, this is Grey's Anatomy. It's mostly a show about romance so of course the main character should end up with someone. That's where all the fun is. Most people watch Grey's Anatomy for the romance drama. There are other shows for more realistic content.
I love this for them, Jackson and Meredith friendships was really underrated and if it wasn’t for Covid, they would have hugged it out. Even though Alex’s Goodbye wasn’t the kind of goodbye their friendship deserved, It still got to me aswell, I think the letter was a beautiful message to Meredith, for us it’s the end of the characters appearance but for Meredith it’s not the end of their friendship, not to mention how good friends Meredith is with April and once was with Izzy so she definitely would visit them aswell
As some have said already, this would've been a great final season. But now that we know it isn't, you gotta wonder what they have in store for next year with all these departures
IM PRAYING THEY BRING BACK THE ALIVE CAST MEMBERS. I WANT CALLIE, IZZIE(MOST OF ALL), ARIZONA, ALEX, CRISTINA, etc. to come back and get rid of all the new cast members
Omg I’m crying 😭 first it was George then izzie then Sloan then Cristina then Callie then Andrew then Alex now Jackson!!!!! All the good characters Leaving like whose next Maggie?!?🔒😔
I always he knew he was gonna leave , it was a question of when unfortunately , i wanted shonda to focus on Jackson's and mer's friendship instead of giving him stupid love interests left and right , in each residency class there's always only one left standing , they were 10 and now its only mer
This heart to heart goodbye😭😭 was needed. Glad Meredith was awake to see him off, imagine if she was still at the beach. Yep she wins! The last one standing💪😎.
