@@tomk8350 I am not a good guitarist, and would consider myself to have a rookie opinion at best. But I fucking love it it seems like a 90% perfect guitar for me, would probs suggest swapping out for locking tuners for stability tho. But for the price I’d be impressed if you could find anything better than it tbh.
I just acquired the V and the Rhoads here in Australia. I have a few 7 strings. Does it feel (playability/fit/finish etc) than my higher end USA BC Rich/Bernie Rico Jr/Schecter Loomis 7 strings? No. But …. At this price point, I always ask this one question. “Is it trash”? The answer … “Definitely not”! For the asking price, these guitars are truly good. I can’t buy a 7 string guitar kit here in Australia for 2/3’s of the price for what this is. I can not for the life of me think of any other 7 strings out there (especially at 26.5’ scale) that’s as good, if not better than what Jackson have brought to the table. These will sell out quick for what you get. Great review by the way. 👌
How are you finding tuning stability? Do fancy one of these as a wee mod project but dare say if it's solid enough I'd be happy chugging away at home without mucking around changing nut, tuners etc.
My mouth literally dropped to the floor when I saw Jackson marketing both the king V and Rhoads V in 7 string for a whoppin $250 😲😲 I'm a true to the core classic fender/gibby lover and can't do modern metal designs but goddamn are these enticing me to death! Would not mind owning them because why the hell not?? Jackson has KILLED it lately so kudos 🤘
hey mate got a few v shaped guitars - try the classical possition and strech your right leg or elevate your left leg by stepping on something laying around you for example. Both techniques are way more comfy than trying to hold that thing between your legs and looking a bit funny in my opinion. You can also just use a strap that's an option too :)
I find Vs more comfortable to play sitting down than standard shapes. Assuming you're right-handed: put your right leg inside the V, so the lower horn sits between your legs. If you can slightly elevate your left leg, that will make it even more comfortable. Should be fine without squeezing your legs together with a symmetrical V - Randy Rhoads is trickier in that respect, but once you get the knack for it, can also be very comfortable. One thing that I guess bothers people, is the different position of your picking arm. With a V in the classical position, your arm is closer to your body, your hand further to the left, than with your classic round body shapes. Personally, I find this much more comfortable and relaxing than having to keep my shoulder up and elbow out on a traditional body shape. But I played a V for years before getting any other shapes, so I guess it's just what you're used to.
Thanks for this. I was going to get it precisely for the angle at which a typical V would hang. Now I know it doesn't do the one thing I wanted it for (as opposed to the 7 strings I already own), I will skip it.
Very nice video. Awesome guy, very informative and descriptive. That clean tone though….😍 It’s made me now go and order it payday, thank you so much! :)
I just got the rhoades version js22, its insane looks deadley. Have to get use to a larger scale thow its bigger then norm but worth it. Gonna prob swap pickups to maybe emg. But thats all u will have to do with it. These guitars are worth then money for sure.!!.. awsome video btw.
It looks like you are the sole reviewer of this guitar. Odd, being that this model is currently selling out at a lot of outlets. I think that it suddenly became talked about a lot in forums, word spread, and a lot of players like me purchased one of these. Therefore, one might expect to see a lot of reviews, unboxings, etc.; but you don't se any other yt's of this guitar ... Good presentation, by the way. And great playing. I like my js22-7 kv.
Great review man! I have the original "super strat" version of this. What IRs did u say u were using in this one? And also, what tunning? Sounds tougher than mine lol
I can’t seem to find this guitar anywhere in the UK. It’s either sold out of on pre-order…? Does this mean it’s not released yet? Or you’re able to buy it and check out, but it won’t be delivered for months?
Yeah, no problem! Although I recommend you to get some Graphtech nut, hipshot bridge and locking tuners! I have the “super strat” version, and unfortunately mine gave me some problems when it comes to tuning stability and intonation but everything is just fine now!
The deadly tone the guitar gives off somewhat makes up for the headstock shape I wasn’t a fan of it either when I first saw it online but it’s kinda growing on me now to each their own
