This type of audience is what every artist wants as a fanbase.... You can see that they're collaborating with the artist, paying attention, showing respect to Jacob and his music. Kudos to them.

The amount of staggered breathing in the middle audience is unimaginable.

Honestly, I think this is how it sounds when humanity comes together. Not just vocally, but spiritually, socially, politically, and everything else in between. We have differences (like the different sections of the audience), but when we’re United as one, we too can sing a beautiful song. Much love Jacob!

These lyrics speak to me on a very personal level. Tbf though I am a ghost and it is nice to hear some music in my native language for once.

Jacob Collier (Profile): • One of the most renowned and talented musicians in the 21st century. - Fluent in multiple instruments (and can probably easily pick up any others). - Has a better sense of pitch accuracy then any singer or musician I’ve seen or heard of. • Dresses like he hasn’t eaten breakfast yet.

I was at this concert and it was magical. Not just Jacob himself, but also all the people that came to see this. Jacob using the audience as an instrument is particularly beautiful because it is an instrument that he himself has built and created. He went from being just another kid in his room to assembling a multi-continental audience... I'm excited to see what he does and how he will progress in the next few years, and will definitely be at the May 17th concert in Toronto if it hasn't already sold out.

The hard part of this isn’t getting the whole group on the same note. 95% of people can sing. The hard part is getting the whole group to perfectly change to the note you’re hearing in your head, which is incredible to watch!

When he posted the short clip of this on Twitter yesterday, I cried. Then I watched this, and cried again. This is the most beautiful thing in the universe. I would pay money to attend an entire 2 hour concert where he did nothing but play the audience.

Ok- but why is nobody mentioning how he not only guided the audience in three part melody/harmony *BUT THEY GOT WHAT THE MOTION FOR LOUDER MEANT.* and yes, an easy motion to interpret, but still it’s just - AAAAAAUH- I WANNA BE A PART OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS SO BAAAAAD QWQ

Not satisfied with playing all the instruments, now he plays people ...

What I think is amazing here is not that a random group can sound so beautiful, but how he achieves this through brilliant direction and teaching. Actually surprisingly few people have genuine tone deafness: it's one in twenty. More people can hold a note than can't, and the more people you have, the more likely it is that their slight discordances will average out into the correct pitch. It's why a small group singing happy birthday can sound like a train wreck, but a football crowd singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is surprisingly musical. What he actually does brilliantly is the teach. Setting the three basic notes, then teaching one group to modulate up and down, then teaching another to do the same, before returning to the original group to reinforce their learning and take it a step further... That's what is so brilliant here. It's a masterclass in the fundamentals of good teaching.

Just seeing this kind of large-scale musicality and appreciation for Jacob in a small space is so amazing. Things like this are why I am so happy with what I do.

My senior year of High School, I was in an all-state choir. The director did something very similar to this (divided the choir into many parts and would direct via hand gestures), and I can't describe the emotion the music really brings. Hearing/being part of a choir of nearly 300-500 people, and all being so synchronized and improvised was one of the greatest things I have ever experienced. Thank you Jacob for giving this audience a taste of how great music really can be.

Had that idea since I was a kid, brought tears in my eyes when I finally see it come to fruition, at least not me but someone else, and that someone else is you, I can make my peace.

I was conducted by Jacob in Philly back in May and I have never felt more in the moment and connected to an artists mind in my life. Thank you Jacob.

I attended a music conference a few years ago. It consisted of about 150 Anglican musicians. Believe me, when we sang it sounded just like this. When I get to heaven, please god let it be this way. I’m so hoping🌺

When your audience is made up of competent musicians

Just got home from his concert. This was my favorite part. I went alone & sang my heart out during this part of the show. I can go very deep lmao but it’s gonna get sad x). Long story short, it’s very beautiful to feel a part of something greater than yourself. This rids the loneliness feeling you may be experiencing, if you are so. Singing with everyone intently. This is just beautiful, Jacob. That experience is one of a kind.

Play it on silent and Jacob just looks like the most charismatic and captivating cult leader in the history of the world. Every single person in there was so incredibly focused on him and his instructions that I doubt there were more than 5 blinks in the whole audience during that.

Rarely in the world do you see a group of complete and utter strangers stand together in perfect harmony. This is the power of music. Power, unimpeded by ego. The true essence of god on earth. Yugen, if I've ever witnessed such a thing. This provoked me to tears. So beautiful and human.

A kid in my high school does this. We get together in the instrument storage room, whip out the saxes, and he guides us with is hand to make awesome chords and melodies.

Ok so I’ve watched this video so many times over the years and I’m coming back to say that last night I just got to finally experience it in person, front row. It was the most incredible feeling in the world being in a massive room of people all in the moment, singing together. I’ll never forget that feeling. If you ever get the chance to see Jacob live, do it.

I feel like I’m floating on a cloud the shape of a lily pad

This takes me back to my high school choir days (it was the largest choir our school had ever had - over 120 people). As a warmup, my choir teacher would put us through this exercise where we'd all start on the same note, and descend down the major scale until we each individually picked the note we wanted to stop on to create this dissonant yet ethereal sound. I miss making music like this with other people. :)

I was once told by a voice coach that she could take any random group of people and with a few months practice turn the group into a solid chorus with the potential to achieve international recognition with more practice.

The sheer humanity of these gives me chills. For a few fleeting moments, there is nothing but joyful unity in an auditorium full of strangers.

I've watched this so many times and still get shivers every time. I can only imagine what it must have felt like to be a part of this magical moment.
