I used to hate the Jagstang body shape, too. Having played one, I will say that it is particularly well-balanced when playing sitting down. I have come to appreciate its seemingly random jaggedness
Finally cleaned my jag-stang after picking it up for 200 dollars at a flea market a few years after it was first released. Pushed the saddles in to polish the bridge, and when I restrung it, the high-e string just floated above the saddle, which I only discovered while playing "get back" -- the high-note in John Lennon's little solo made me go "whoa, what's up with the intonation?". Spent hours with a Z shaped screw-driver to raise the saddle. No good. FINALLY found out that the way it had been strung when I bought it was wrong -- Mustang bridges have to be strung backwards, then under the Vibrato tail-piece, making the strings come from the body and up to the saddle where they sit comfortably. But damn is that a pain in the ass: I'm a converted bass player, where you have to be delicate with the strings, because if they get bent, they'll never get unbent, and wrapping the strings around and under a little cigar-sized piece requires way more tension while you're putting the other end in the tuning pegs, so the little o's at the bottom of strings keep popping out. So you shove them back in with an allen key, and PULLLLLLL. I hate mustang bridges. I want a Jazzmaster. Someday perhaps I'll be able to subscribe to "middle-class music", but either way, great chanel. I just discovered it.
I bought that same guitar in red a month ago and I can only say that I am loving it. Her fingerboard is the best ever tested, comfortable fine and true rosewood. She looks cool once cleansed and nourished. The pickups are fantastic, they have the Nirvana sound clean or with the Boss DS. A great guitar although a bit pricey for being from Mexico Too bad not to be from MIJ.
Yeah it seems abit expensive but kurt is why I started music and it’s my dream guitar so for me I don’t mind paying that also when I bought a guitar on sale for 400 the other day and it retails for 600 new so I’ll probably sell that aswell because imo at my age of 20 it’s worth having the extra money

TBH, the short scale length wouldn’t work for me, plus I don’t see what the Jagstang has to offer the player who isn’t exclusively interested in playing with gain. But that’s just me; “courses for horses,” as they say.
I'm glad it's so ugly since we got this wonderfully passive aggressive performance from Jason here. I agree entirely, however I do own a MIJ model which I bought from a friend at college for £150 back in 2005, so I can't really complain. Oh and for bonus Frankenstein's monster cred mine has been hardtailed and had the humbucker replaced with a Duncan Invader from the Tom Delonge signature.
Ahahah 7:50 Doont worry it was quite shared among "the fans" when it first came out from fender japan I guess main reason is that he played the mustang with humbucker 99.9% of the time. The pricing in after market in late 90 early 2000 said it all (around 400euros) BUT, now is the time for jag stang lover! 🤗😉 At least they didn't put a black humbucker............... 🙄
Was expecting some more different tones in this review, given the options the switches give, but apparently the intention was to just blast Nirvana tunes 😁 Hadn't expected Tia to be a fan of the guitar, actually. Or at least not for this style of music. Keep the surprises coming 🙂
Loved that review! Uglier guitars: lefthand Les Paul. Fender Cyclone. Reverse Flying V. Fender Lead II. BC Rich Warlock. That yellow Jag that johnny marr is playing these days (look up his latest upload on his yt channel).
I gotta believe Kurt liked it a little at least, enough that he used it on one of his final shows albeit heavily modified. You dont need this guitar to sound like Kurt. You only need a Seymour Duncan SH-JB4 in humbucker in the bridge and a Boss DS1. The tremolo on this and the Mustang are notoriously unstable. A really good guitar tech can set it up well though. Also, even if its set up well, if you plan on using the trem bar, it’ll detune no matter what. Kurt had his and Mustangs Hard Tailed.
I also don't like the shape of the Jag-Stang, more than anything because of the ergonomics (and the Mustang vibrato). Ryan Jarman's signature Squier though... aka the MusUar, is the Jag-Stang done right (and one of my favourite guitars)
I'm with Jason on this one. I've never been a fan of the Jagstang. I think it's hideous and I prefer the sound from pretty much any other Fender model. More power to anyone who likes this though. Very happy for Tia. I was never a massive Nirvana fan either, so that's not a driving force for me. Thanks for the review, folks.
Love nirvana, love offsets but yeah the guitar ain’t pretty. Personally I love the sound of the pickups. I came across a fiesta red squier mustang VM so I plan on sticking a jb and I believe Texas special is what he had on the neck ?? My point being uh the mustang is perfect as it is and the squier mustangs VM/CV (once set up) are so badly underrated
I lied. I really want the jagstang now. I ended up keeping the mustang stock (besides taping the bridge pole pieces). When both pickups are turned on it's JANGLEMANIA I love it lol

I owned a Jagstangs for a bit and really wanted to like it. In the end, Kurt was not finished designing it when he died and Fender rushed it out. I really believe if Kurt had not passed away, the guitar would have been quite different. It's a very awkward guitar to play.
Ugly. Loose the pick guard. News Flash. Humbuckers sound muddy, while being compared to Single Coils, on the same amp settings. Knowing this, the guitarist can create different ambiences with a switch on the instrument.
