@@NBHRaven Yes! Me too. There were a few episodes that hit you in the feels, especially if you had a military background. The one where Gunny goes back to the fleet, the one where Harm and Skates are hit by lightning in the tomcat and have to punch during a storm, and the one where the central cast sing "Waltzing Mathilda" to Brumby as he leaves, which I saw again shortly after the actor Trevor Goddard passed away.

All in all, a FINE performance by John M. Jackson as "Admiral Chegwidden" - a tough, no-nonsense SEAL who made JAG a top-notch organization. He gave his people 100% and expected 100% from them. A TRUE leader - in every respect.
@donbrynelsen2157
@donbrynelsen2157 5 лет назад
One of my favorite scenes involved him and the Marine that joined JAG. The man is boasting about the bar brawls he'd been in with Navy personnel, and the particular pleasure he took in laying out SEALS. The Admiral comes around his desk, gets toe to Toe with the guy, and says quietly "I think there's one SEAL you might have a problem with." The Jarhead sees the trident emblem on the Admiral's uniform, and a "Oh shit, I'm f*cked!" expression crosses his face! 😄

I always like to think that when A.J. is looking at his people, he's reflecting on them and he knows that they will be OK. He knows that he is leaving them in a better place than when he first met them and much like a father looking at this son on his wedding day he knows their future is bright and is happy for them. He's not sad to leave because he knows that it's time for him to leave and let them go.

As an active duty Marine during this show's main run, I truly loved it. It was a little ridiculous in some ways, and season 1 felt like a bad military parody at times, but most of the episodes over most of the seasons were fantastic! The attention to detail in terms of military accuracy was so refreshing. It definitely felt like it was intended for a military audience. NCIS, it's successor was a good show too, but it was clearly written for a civilian audience. You can tell by looking at those small details. Like referring to an NCOIC as a "Non-commissioned officer in charge". In JAG, they wouldn't spell that out, because everyone knows what an NCOIC is. Thousands of small details like that made the show feel much more organic and legitimate. They way they capture military customs and courtesies, uniform details like order of ribbons, shooting badges, which uniform is for which purpose, all of it. I really miss the show! I hope it will be available streaming somewhere soon. For those on XFINITY, there was a time a couple of years ago where a few seasons were available, but I am off of that service now, so there's none out there that I am aware of.

The character of AJ Chegwidden was seen in an episode of NCIS and in a couple episodes of NCIS:Los Angeles. It would be interesting if there were an episode of Hawaii Five-0 in which Chegwidden is on vacation in Hawaii and comes to Five-0 Headquarters to represent an old Navy friend of his and Steve McGarrett gets surprised to meet him and call him sir,though Chegwidden would say "Don't sir me,I'm retired."

I would love to see that. JAG and Magnum could easily exist in the same universe. Looking at original Magnum, Thomas and AJ could have easily been SEAL contemporaries. Rabb was born in 1964, and his father (shot down in Vietnam), and Magnum's father (shot down in Korea) have a common history. Even modern Magnum comes from the SpecOps community, so has that shared with AJ. It would be great to merge their stories.
