Agreed; most of the German vehicles from the time looked the parts they needed to play, aggressive and menacing. Reliability and maintenance are a different story.
Tigers sux. Panthers were good but few. Better IS-2, JagdPanther, JagdTiger... When Commies showed up in Berlin to celebrate with USA.. they take IS-3 to ride.. and USA and UK was like..what is this UFO TANK.... they didnt had answer to IS-3 for more than 15 years.. If they didnt stop at Berlin on show.. we will now all be commies. IS-3 was indestructable
The sound of the maybach must have really scared all allied troops but what a machine and the accuracy of the restoration is astonishing i absolutely love it
Can the word "beautiful" describe a deadly weapon? The Jagdpanther's effective shape, suspension and gun immediately commands respect. Even today.......breathtaking.
+Paul Fabrique yes but the german panzer crew was way better to handle it the Guys that took i from the german wehrmact and restored it i like but they cant drive it look at the reverse forward used at no reason
+Paul Fabrique Technologically it was the best but for practicality they went WAAAAY overboard when it came to over engineering stuff and that killed production. If Germany had stuck to more simplistic and practical designs the war wouldn't have lasted so long.
maybe, it's just the end product which is usually misconceived with most so-called' advanced' German technology, ie ..the Jagdpanther was utterly useless in the Normandy bocage with no turret and room to turn!
Nw.Caffers The Panther chassis did not have some of the driver conforts that the Tigers had... so a little more of a challenge... plus considing its now a very rare vehicle and there are very few "experienced drivers" left alive... its very possible the driver has very little "time" on this type.I think he did just fine...
If this is not the coolest TD ever I don't know what it is ! Man , those krauts really know how to make tanks ! I almost had an orgasm looking at this one !
Wow, sounds like a drag race car with a big ass cam installed in it. Wonder why? I doubt they have the engine tuned for high specific horsepower. They usually go with low-RPMs, high torque, long life and good reliability. I guess it doesn't sound much different from an aircraft engine, actually. Also, I didn't expect that much suspension movement just from driving around. These don't have hydraulic suspension do they? I thought it was regualr old torsion bar stuff.
Can you imagine this beast hiding in the bocage unseen, waiting to pounce? I bet the Allied tankers who wandered into it's view never knew what hit them.
i searched the internet for a while, looking for tanks i would see on t.v. documentaries. finally figured out it was the Panther, looks kind of like a Pitbull. what is the purpose of no turret!
Give this guy two more months on the driver´s seat and hell throw it around turns like it was nothing... a shame it didnt happen in this clip, but there are ones still on youtube where it happens
The best tank killer of ww2.Why did the Germans build King Tigers.Jagdtigers.Ferdinads?In the same time they could have easily manufactured far far more Jagdpanthers. It had the same gun as King Tiger. And even a stronger 105mm was developed. It was easy to manufacture.Reliable.Fast.Awesome Armor and incredible firepower. Germans made a huge mistake by wasting their resources on new models.Instead of concentrating on cheaper and reliable models like Panther and Jagdpanther.
@@beeterracing7024 well the unreliabilty in the transmission in the panther series was largely fixed in the G version. Due to the lighter weight of the jagdpanther the transmission was less likely to break
Gawd, thats a beautiful beast. I once told my buddy who was a tanker in the gulf, that i bet that those ww2 german tanks would give a better run for the money than those T 72s., he gave me this equation King tiger vs T 72= 1% chance for KT, KT vs M1A1 = less than 0, NAW you think he is right?
Late answer perhaps, but your buddy is right. No WW2 tank would stand a chance against a modern MBT in a one-on-one engagement. First, WW2 could not really shoot on the move with any chance of hitting. Second, fire control today is much much better, so a modern tank can hit the KT with the first round at up to 2500 meter easily. Frontal armour of any modern tank is impenetrable for the KT's gun while the KT armour stands no chance agains any APFSDS-round. The only way the KT would stand a chance is when it could attack (unseen) from the rear or from the top (as from a high hill position). Modern MBT still have the main armour at the front, but the top and rear are still vulnerable.
I agree they look cool looks don’t win battles. I have been looking into the Sherman tanks of ww2. Dose’s any know that Canadian Sherman tanks had Diesel engines in them and we were putting them in during the engine of the war. Matter Of fact the Sherman in the movie fury as a diesel engine in it
Seeing tanks like this, I hardly can believe that the cheapest HEAT warhead of any RPG launcher produced nowadays could destroy them even from the front...
Yep, notice that the first model of the Panzerfaust could penetrate about 140mm of steel, and the shittest RPG-7V could put a hole in 250mm of steel. Modern RPG's penetrate 600mm or even more. Not to mention the heavy guided anti tank missiles with dual warhead and a 10kg explosive main charge...
