I remember this actually. I still have a few of my favourites on the now-"RuneScape 3" game (used to be RuneScape / RuneScape Classic / RuneScape 2 ... Lol (still got my 9 Santa Hats, 3 Christmas Crackers, 14 Pumpkins, 6 Easter Eggs, 2 of each Halloween Mask colour (2 red, 2 green, 2 blue) , and as for actual party hats that I got from the crackers that I opened/had opened on me (and also from trading with other users to get different coloured hats to avoid too many duplicate colours) I don't remember exact numbers but roughly 2 to 3 full colour collections of the original partyhats (some I have 2, some I have 3, but all more than 2 each) -- this is all I have to show for my 20+ years of RuneScape gaming days, and these old items still to this day allow mw to login and revisit them to relive the memories of the past playing on this incredible game I've since stopped playing, haven't in around 2 years now, but will never get rid of my original holiday collection items because they are held very dear to my heart ) -- coming from a true RuneScape veteran who started in 2002 when the graphics were terrible and it took me over 3 days to just get out of the starting area of the game. But I quickly progressed and prided myself on boarding collections and never selling the old items and the holiday items (shame they eventually created them to be no longer tradeable, making them a lot less fun to exchange and collect with other friends in game) ... Sorry for the huge comment, I guess I have a lot to reminisce about when it comes to this game.. I love logging in once every ~6 months to admire the original holiday collection and get the blast of memories from the past to enjoy once in a while :) Cheers!

I picked them all up, I wasn't picky, was still hard because they were being picked up so quickly. 😅 To think about it, they were like a virtual crypto currency before crypto existed but in game rather then an actual currency. If you kept your account in RS3 and never logged in and kept your party hats, your sitting on a motherload of gp.

"Limited" lmao. They drop hundreds of thousands of them every holiday. So the number of them in the game grows disgustingly each time, and *nothing* takes them out of the game. At that point, there really is no difference between them and any other item.

@@justinmcmanus9152 They definitely do. They're dropped en-masse on certain worlds. Not to mention in addition to these drops, they are offered as holiday quest rewards and multiple are given to everyone who completes. Receiving an item as a reward from a quest or clue scroll is essentially the same thing as a "drop". There are literally thousands of normal players who complete such quest not to mention all the bots who run through it as it's usually very simple and a 200k+ reward. So yes, they definitely do drop "hundreds of thousands" and many hundred thousand more of them come into the game every year without ever leaving.😂 /facepalm

Yeah it was a double edged sword. It was to combat the black market having a monopoly on rares and thus dictating ridiculous unrealistic market prices. On the other hand osrs needs an actual money sink. Items and money are literally losing all sentimental value.

The problem is the way they originally became rare would never work. They were released when the player base was a bunch of 10-year-old idiots. Nobody knew they should save them. Had they made them rares in OSRS everyone would have known to save them, and they would be mass hoarded. This would basically just lead to mass market manipulation, and the items would never actually become rare.

@@Mvgical You really want a repeat of RS3's idiotic cosmetic rare item market to make SUCH a return in OSRS. 20+bil for a stupid meaningless hat. I sold my phat collection in RS3 and converted to OSRS gold, best decision I ever made, items with no game value should never be revered to 5x-10x what is max cash. Ruins game economies, as none can ever be generated, rare items are fine, items people are able to still achieve. Discontinued items being tradable created a useless economy

@@kevinoh5704 I knew a few players who had a lot more. The Grand Exchange made it much easier to make gold. I was among the first players to use runners, when making Law Runes. Made a lot of players rich. I supplied the runes & gave them the Laws. I only got exp.

I still have 2 to 3 of each coloured party hat from back in the day o never sold or traded them after I got the colours I wanted also still have 1 Christmas cracker also a bunch of others; pumpkins, Easter eggs, 2 of each Halloween mask colours (red/blue/green) :) I love to login once every few months to remember the good times and the pretty colours lined up in my bank (in the now-named RuneScape 3 game, used to be called RuneScape / RuneScape Classic / RuneScape 2 lol)

Although I'd never sell them no matter how much somebody were to offer me for them. I'm a true RuneScape veteran (was once a player moderator for a short time back in around 2006 to 2007 and would never think about breaking the rules or rwt / black market selling )

@@Zarocaz Yeah I could definitely, but that's not very interesting to me.. I haven't ACTUALLY spent time enjoying and playing the "RuneScape 3" version of the game in many many years.. not since before it was even called RuneScape 3. When I stopped playing I had all skills above level 99, and had my max cape equipped, and there was word on the streets about there being a new skill coming to the game soon. (That ended up being the Invention skill I believe.. and the only reason I played st that time was because of the Divination skill released and I wanted to obtain my Max Cape once again so I got that skill to 99 even though I hadn't been playing much at that time already...) Honestly, I dont think I'll ever trade my old holiday item collection at all. I have no plans to do that and I dont think I'll ever go back to playing that game for fun ever again. ( The only times I login to the game anymore these days, like I said, is simply to reminisce and enjoy the memories of looking at my item collections in the bank on my account.. that's really all I have plans to do in the future.. just once every couple months.. just to make sure the game hasn't deleted my account or thrown my memories away or anything. (I'm afraid that one day there might be some kinda of update that will cause all older players/old accounts to be deleted or locked if the owner hasnt logged into the game for a certain period of time... That's my biggest fear when it comes to the old version of the game with all the old accounts I have, the one with the new updated (gross looking) graphics and stuff ("RuneScape 3" / "RS3") .... That's why I always make sure to login every so often. To make sure my memories and items are kept there safely forever for me whenever I want to enjoy them!
